If I can snare it, I owned it.. Plus I loved the freedom to move around the world.. (ports, rings, sow, soe) I loved that I can dps in a group, CC, heal or just go solo.. I loved being the jack of all trades..
There isn't a "right" or "wrong" way to play, if you want to use a screwdriver to put nails into wood, have at it, simply don't complain when the guy next to you with the hammer is doing it much better and easier. - Allein "Graphics are often supplied by Engines that (some) MMORPG's are built in" - Spuffyre
Ahh vampiir from DAOC. Never got to playing Vampiir XD (I was Alb).
My old Reaver from DAOC was really fun. Such a great, fun class. I am not a big fan of class based games, but if I had to go with it, I would prefer the very large variety of classes DAOC provided - what was the total, ~ 20 total classes? Great stuff.
My all time favorite class from any MMO I have ever played (and I have played A LOT) was the Vampiir from DAOC. I am still looking for a game that has a class with the same playstyle. Any ideas?
What is your favorite MMO Class... EVER?!
My favorite class was the Frior from Daoc. It was hilarious for some stealther to come up to you thinking because you had robes on you'd be a smooshy caster, then "WHACK" with the stick, they'd run like crazy LoL.
Second Favorite would have to be the Daoc Theurgist.
so this is the thread where people pick the oldest game and oldest class just to note hey i was there or wasnt but saying anyways.
always gone with warriors or rangers / archer for change, very rarely any magic caster but if game have option to be
battlemage thats my choise.
MMO's used to be about the classes. That was kind of the point of playing a Role-Playing game...choosing a "role" to play.
I think thats why you see alot of older MMO classes listed in this thread. Classes used to be memorable. Now more and more companies are trying to make RPG's without classes.
My favorites:
Rift - Mage - Chloromancer as someone said earlier was great.
Anarchy Online - Bureaucrat
Dark Age of Camelot - Skald
World of Warcraft - Warlock (Vanilla), Priest (WotLK), Shaman (Cataclysm). Classes change in that game so often its hard to keep up.
I just loved the shapeshifting... and one of my best memories of the game was flying around in flight form and looking at a friend in the ground being pwned by several mobs, drop down, shifting to cat form right before landing (cat has reduced falling damage) then shifting to bear (tank) to taunt the mobs off her and kill them..

enchanter/bard from everquest - having control of a battle and directing ur party onto which add to kill, both classes were great to pull with
im really digging the concept for mesmers in gw2 atm atleast from bwe's
Dark Avenger - Lineage 2
Such a kickass class, even in its half badly designed form, I wish another MMO would actually pick this same class and implemented it properly.

Honorable mention to DAOC theurgist and friar.

the right side always felt odd and threw me off..
Line][age
Human Fighter > Human Warrior > Warlord > Dreadnaught.
Monk in FFXI
Where your only goal in life was to walk up to something and punch it in the face.
Now with 57.3% more flames!
Enchanter from EQ1 - very difficult class to do well
Blood Mage from Vanguard - lifetap healing
Hunter from WoW before they standardized pets. Which pet you tamed and where you tamed it mattered.
SWG: TKM+bounty hunter
Very funny. I could never play the right side in Super Street Fighter.
WoW Druid around the time of Burning Crusade..

What can men do against such reckless hate?
