GW 2 Gaming or whining?

crimzonxskyzcrimzonxskyz Member Posts: 28

I love how people whine about GROUND TEXTURES!!!!

REALLY?? How much time are you REALLY going to spend looking at the ground instead of playing the game?!?

" Well I dunno about that patch of grass right there whineyforumpostermcgee... It just looks TERRIBLE!! " lmao

Go code layer and texture your own game with AMAZING I CAN SEE EACH GRAIN OF SAND AND ITS INDIVIDUALITY then!

only see a few complaints on this topic.. ground and things like trees and plants are pretty crappy in the texture department but everything else looks great and the world overall blends so well it isn't that noticable anyway.

I angered the clerk in a clothing shop today. She asked me what size I was and I said actual, because I am not to scale. I like vending machines 'cause snacks are better when they fall. If I buy a candy bar at a store, oftentimes, I will drop it... so that it achieves its maximum flavor potential. --Mitch Hedberg

"ooooooh people are critising the game I like, it makes me rage"

Does this really warrant a thread?  People have a right to be as critical as they like

I don't really notice the ground textures much. But I do hope they get tessellation in the game at some point, would be a nice bonus.

This is the first I have actually read of any complaints. I think everything is amazing myself.

The graphics aren't bad at all. I like the environment they have built and it is very stylistic. It isn't anywhere near AOC, but it does have it's own style.

There's honestly too many people that expect GW2 to be a mix of Crysis, WoW and whatever other game they like.

I found literally people that didn't actually play during the stress test and only theorycrafted builds for PvP and then went on to rage to forums about how the class they like was nerfed, or people that spend over one hour in chats telling that the game didn't run at over 80 fps so it's a piss of crap, and so on...

Some people simply use MMOs to whine, i try to ignore them.

Doesn't being critical of critics enter your definition too?

  • i haven't even noticed. i know i'll be staring at the ground next time i'm in game now.. if i get upset over this later, i'm comin after you crimzonxskyz

Graphics are fine to me. The more you put in graphically the more computer you need so it's all a trade off. In my experience so far the game looks and runs great, minus the last stress test that is.

Yes, we're just being critical about you being critical of critics.

GW2's graphics are passable. Meaning, they are fine, but nothing special. Performance-wise, the game runs like butter on max settings for me, and that's more important IMO.

people will always find things to complain about because they use the game they think is #1 to them as a benchmark to compare new games.  tbh, i turn off map chat and stick to local, if anyone needs help in my area, I don't mind explaining things there.

Now that's just overpowered, you can't stack critical like that.

    Damn min/maxers...

This may actually turn out to be an issue for them. One of the big reasons WoW was so successful is that it ran on very low end machines. GW2 takes a mid grade machine to be playable at decent settings. I think that a lot of the non traditional PC players who only play WoW on the PC and play the rest of their games on a console will be upset when this doesn't perform like WoW did. With the economy the way it is, upgrading is probably not an option for a lot of those people.

Not seen much mention in the forums, but few when reading the comments under screenshots on this site.

Can't find the others due to the user submitted screenshot gallery being a giant clusterfk, but I can recall a couple more having similar comments.

    • Windows® XP Service Pack 2 or better

    • 25 GB available HDD space
    • Broadband Internet connection
    • Keyboard and mouse
these are official min requirements this is a pretty low end gaming system today. Also if people are upset because they can play a game from '04 and not a game from 2012 that's a whole other issue.. I'm not going to bitch I can't play a PS3 game in my PS2

Yea they're actually pretty bad. Grass and bushes seem to take a while to render even thought I use a high end card and processor. But it hasn't even been released yet so eh.

No! The game is perfect! Nothing needs to be changed!

I find that it is the exact opposite.

GW2 runs quite ok on low end and people are quite happy with it.

Most whiners have high end machines and expected Crysis like graphics.

umm yea anyway.. you can see in my sig under "The World" section and watch those videos you can see the trees, grass, and many plants are horribly low res compared to the rest of the game but how the art overall in the world is done it's not that noticable unless you are really looking for it.

    haha :P

If you really want to get into it, every game has terrible ground textures when your camera is theoretically inches off the ground IN GAME you wont see blu ray hd 10 million P quality ground like your naked eye can see IRL... Be satisfied its a GAME do you want to escape reality back to something that is generally similar looking to your own... yeaaaaaaaaaaaaNO

and honestly ITS THE GROUND lol you frekkin run on it who cares your not gonna fight it ever, unless it drops you through the world in which case the ground textures win because you fall to death... end topic!

i have only a quad core AMD 3.3, and a gtx460 and it runs on max everything at 1980 * 1080 at a steady 40+ fps, thats pretty good imo for a lowish spec.

    rpg/mmorg history: Dun Darach>Bloodwych>Bards Tale 1-3>Eye of the beholder > Might and Magic 2,3,5 > FFVII> Baldur's Gate 1, 2 > Planescape Torment >Morrowind > WOW > oblivion > LOTR > Guild Wars (1900hrs elementalist) Vanguard. > GW2(1000 elementalist), Wildstar

Now playing GW2, AOW 3, ESO, LOTR, Elite D

funny the ones who are mostly complaining about performance are playing with systems half as powerful as yours
