I'll bite on this and if I get 30 missions done I get 2 extra days right what if I do all the missions? Yes I have that kind of time with the kids in school. So I could put in about 8 hrs a day on this for 3 days and then 6 hr a day after that would I be able to see most of the content or would i be better off passing this by?

No game is as crisp as WoW, agreed. I will say that TSW at times, like in dungeons and small group pvp is almost as crisp. Pretty close imo.

There are a couple (as in about 4) ability graphics that are being optimized that have been cause some fps isssues when multiple people use in small areas though. These are hopefully cleared up in 2 weeks with patch 1.2

You will be able to do a lot of the story content, but you will still have investigations, sabatage, action and side quest out there, plus the Ability Wheel.

Yes the wheel is content. I'm at 57% completion with far to many days /played. I haven't did the story or 80% of the rest of the quests. I love to make new builds though.

The box is just $27 at Amazon, not $50.

I think they should do a trial like Rift, limited lvl and area so you can make your own idea about the game without a limited time of play

i bought Rift after trying the trial , the game was fun but limited to lvl 20 so i was curious to see what's going on after 20

People who need more than 3 days to decide whether to spend $27 on a game (current price at Amazon) probably should stay away from gaming and try to get their lives sorted out.

Did I say the whole day? I don't read anywhere where I said the whole day. I said you're probably going to have a fair amount of time on the weekend, with most people being off work those days. That should be plenty enough to find out if you like the game or not. And if people are having trouble downloading it in a few hours, then let it run, it's not like the download time is taking away from the trial time. It starts the moment you log in for the first time, not the time you set up the trial account.

All I've been reading through these posts screams to me, "Entitled Masses!". Oh, I can only play 2 hours a day, I should be able to play whenever I want, FC should let me play for 3 days worth of time, I should get the 1200pts even if I wasn't there, me me me me bloody me. People, this is a trial, it's not an open invitation to play their game as much as you want. It's there to see if you like it, to give you more incentive to purchase it, not as a half-way house to free to play.

Oh, and as a side note to this poster - I work all week, I work half day Saturday, I get maybe 3-4 hours after work during the week to game, I might get the whole of Sunday or I might be off doing something else. I'm not an '18 hours a day' gamer by any stretch. I just realise what FC are offering, what many many games used to offer in the past, a free trial, a chance to test the game over a certain time span. This is somehow offensive to some people. Letting people play a game for free for a few days is offensive and restrictive. "Entitled Masses.". I really can't believe some people....

Well, either you like this game, or you don't. Few of my friends were surprised - I forced them to at least try it out. Few joined me in TSW, few admitted that game is good, but not in their interest area right now. Two of them said that it was horrible experience (to do quests) and they came back to LOL. ;)

Obviously, I'm TSW fangirl, but still... 3 days free trial is better way to check the game, than purchase and join 'I-Cancel-Sub-After-One-Month' club. Unless someone sit deep in official forums, dev info, etc., game is nothing like people expect it to be. Reviews, opinions, it's no way measureable to someone's own taste. So, if someone has 2-3 hours to spare (at least and be warned that some people find game very tempting and forget to sleep), just go for it.

3 Days? How much time of it will be left once you downloaded the client? 1?
Then 1 maybe two evenings time to rush things?

A lot of people have switched from dial-up to broadband. You should give it a try. It's really neat!!

And lots of people don't have access to such a broad band. Here in Venezuela, where I live, I only have access to two kinds of internet speeds, dial up or 1024k DSL (that rarely breaks the 80 KB/sec limit when it should be 128 KB/sec). When the game came out it took me two full days downloading to get the game.

So really, his compaint is limited to special circumstances. For the bulk of the world the download speed isn't an issue. Wouldn't you agree?

    95% of world = Broadband

    5% = no as fast

(numbers are for example only, not facts)

hahahaha... I wish it was that good... Most of the europe still has DSL with shitty speeds (from 2 to 20 megabits), so yeah... It's not that pink ;)

Im amaized at how many people think everyone has high speed internet and 24/7 electricity and $$$ ect...

For those who seemed shocked by this I exhort you to read a bit about other parts of the world, maybe visit them. There are more people outside of where you live. You don't have to know everything about everywhere but at least don't assume that because you have it others do.

    [mod edit]

Who the hell do you think you are to discriminate people like that?

What is this "hunting and gathering for their tribal village"? What are you - 5 years old? No, you're probably not, because young children don't know much about discrimination or hate speech on purpose...

What did you want to say with this shallow reply? That people who don't have the broadband internet connection should instantly go back to the woods and caves or something, that they are less worthy?

Geez, what else won't I read here...

He did say lack of electricity... If that is a problem in your area, well I tend to agree that there are more things you should worry about..

    I hate discrimination too, btw

Seeing you guys don't understand what I meant Ill explain it to you. There are places were you don't have 24/7 electricity like you have in most of the USA. Maybe once or twice a month (or a week) you loose power. That doesn't mean they should worry about other things, they can entertain themselves with some video games.

Im not saying its a place were you live in the middle of a forest with no electricy which is what he/she is portraying out of ignorance.

Free trials already, oh it's getting desperate.  In one article I saw Craig Morrison citied as 'Creative Director' for all your sakes I hope that is not the case.  But he is at Gamescon making some wonderful quotes about The Secret World, apparently

'Everytime a player logs in, they need a why,' noted Morrison.'What we really need to be thinking about is the why -- it's the bit that we don't really consider enough. Players need a reason to be playing it. What is motivating them?'

Err might of wanted to think about that perhaps a few years ago Craig.  I mean I know one of the main reason why people stopped playing Age of Conan , it was due to your poor direction.  Little late in the day to be going all zen like when your investors aren't happy.  You want to keep that guy away from TSW he is nothing more than a glorified journalist.

I hope you did not intentionally ment to say that dsl or better internet connection is uncommon.

You still do not need to log in to patch, no need for an active account.

ITT: People without electricity and on dial up connections are treated unfair by Funcom merely giving that a 3 day trial.

I'm so broke. I can't even pay attention.

And it is equally ignorant to make an argument based on false pretence.

You will have 3 days of trial after you have downloaded the game, even if it took you a month.

It wont matter if you lose electricity 2 days per month, it wont matter if you sit on 256Kb adsl. You don't need an activated account to patch the game.

I've just signed up, just to make sure I didn't miss something the first time I was checking the website, and that instantly gave me a link to the client and created my account...

Since they aren't giving any information about "activating" account I'm guessing that's it. You create it and you can play it, unless they're counting the trial time from the first time you login, but that'd be the first ever... :D And as I said, I'm not going to bother with downloading the huge client just for this 3 days, unless it's really counting the "play time".

It's been said few times in this thread and in various other sources.

Trial starts when you first log in to the game.

    Source:

The Secret World ‏@Jevosc Just log in with your new trial account to play! Your 3 days will start the first time you log into the game.

edit: And it's 3 days of 24 consecutive hours PLUS when you manage to do 30 quests in that time, you earn 2 days extra.

    But please, don't bother downloading.
