I was wondering, in the end what is going to be more rewarding, PvP wise? I was looking around in WvW and see that there is 1 Armor set you can buy for tokens you gain trough WvW, and then I went to the 8 vs 8 PvP and they have Glory ranks all the way up to 100, beside that I can remember in GW1 that 99% of the PvP players never even reached the rank 15 emote since that would cost you years of your life (wich I don't mind) From one side I want to play WvW but from the other side I wan't PvP that stays rewarding for a long time, and for me 1 Armor set is not going to do that ? So I am kind of stuck deciding what PvP to focus on? Or does WvW also has a long lasting reward system ?
P.S I hope NDA is lifted ?

For one, their is no NDA so your good their
Also, don't worry about armor, just play what is more fun to you. And remember you can go out into PVE and use the armor you find their in WvWvW, but you can only use PvP specific armor in SPvP.
When one stops thinking in terms of reward, they will be able to let go, enjoy and have fun.
True fullfillment does not come from rewards.
Was expecting answers like this, Oh why do you want rewards omg thats wrong, you just need to have fun.
Well thats fine, but what if someone says that why do you need drops in PvE? Just have fun.. So yea, I see this problem as well, is it really only 1 armor set from WvW? The easiest thing they could do is to implement some kind of rank of how succesfull you are in WvW, which I think they allready have, in terms of kills etc.
Theres no good answer to this except for Anet to make more armor sets that are WvW specific.
Only seen 1 set of armor and 1 weapon. While at the 8 vs 8 mode there are 100 glory ranks with tons of loot boxes armor etc etc. (Armor is cosmetic I think)
Well, yea its 100 ranks> 10 tiers. Every 10 rank you get to get chests from a new glory vendor with better stuff. Also if you go into tournaments, which grants you rewards that is from the tier above your rank. And the paid tournaments is maybe even 1 more above or just different items to get.
But well for your question about what is more rewarding. Its up to you kind off. If you have a huge guild and do well in WvW you will be recognized for that. Same for sPvP. Btw those lobby games with 8v8 is not fun IMO, it is just way too chaotic and too much people running around. As for the 5v5 tournaments are great if you have a good team. And in the sPvP there will be ladders(Hopefully), monthly and yearly tournaments with big rewards. I hope they will go out with cash rewards to boost the E-sport factor of the game. They had it in GW1 but not for too long, and it was only 100k USD in a year, what is that compared to LoL that rushes out with 5 million prize pool, and probably even bigger in season 3.
You forgot about the community aspect that comes with WvW. If you are more the solo type or the very small group type then I think sPvP is better for you. On the other hand if you like to play with your guild in huge battles controlling keeps for your server and guild then go for WvW.
For me I will be playing both depends on whether I find a good guild or not. If I do then I will be spending more time in WvW defending our awesome keep and trying to upgrade it to the max!
The point is, WvW and SPvP are 2 very different beasts. PvP has more armor sets because they are specific to PvP and cannot be used in WvW or PvE. If you want more armor in WvW, you can simply go out into the PvE world, get them, and bring them into WvW. We aren't saying "oh why do you want rewards omg thats wrong", we are saying that your main goal should to be doing whichever you find more enjoyable, and rewards are just that, rewards. Also, WvW rewards don't have to just be about getting a new set of armor, the achievement of beating another server and granting your server a universal buff is an amazing reward in itself.
Its a personal preference. They will most likely add more armor setsand weapons specific to WvW, but as it stands right now its more important to get WvW optimized.
Personally, my guild and I are in it for the competitivness, rivalary, and the epic moments that siege warfare PvP brings to mmo's. I can't wait till the trash talking starts and guilds purposfully target rival guilds from other servers. Gunna get all Game of Thrones up in this bi*tch.
The true reward in the end is when we finally get to face off with Koreans and they wipe the floor with us, just like those days in GW! We will be humbled and appreciate life in a new light, that is the true reward people will be speaking of!
So it is 8v8 now? Not 5v5? I thought I had read that somewhere.
edit ah I see 8v8 hotjoin, 5v5 tourny.
8 teams of 5 for tournaments unless it just changed
nm saw edit:)
I angered the clerk in a clothing shop today. She asked me what size I was and I said actual, because I am not to scale. I like vending machines 'cause snacks are better when they fall. I am sorry, what I kind of ment with this topic was are there cool rewards for doing WvW ? Not only armor wise but for example a cool title or an emote like we had in GW1. Or does it take a few weeks to get all the rewards and then you just do WvW for fun? I am a gamer that likes rewards beside the fun I have I play a game for both fun and rewards and most of the time I get bored of a game after there are no goals to achieve.
Here's what I think about the subject: Limiting yourself to "focusing on one part of the game" is, in my opinion, a bad idea. I play it spontaniously. I don't chase for new gear, or power-level. Wherever i am in the game world, i close my eyes and spin around, then i open them and run in that direction (* not to be taken literally, allthough in some situations it is). Every time i do, end up doing something fun and rewarding.
One of the most amazing things about MMO's is discovering thing. Now days we have access to everything before-hand. Every quest, every item, every clue, every everything is within a googles reach. Imagine not actively seeking things you've seen in before hand. Imagine stumbling upon it while enjoying the game. This is the first game in a long time that really encourages me to do this. To quote Total Buiscuit "... and then you realize, waow, i was just taken on a journey by this game!" (http://youtu.be/xtG0kkDviTU)
I know it's not the answer you're looking for but it's my best advice. And sometimes you just don't understand the question until you see the answer.
As someone who hates 'mucking around', I think optimizing what you like is the way to go.
When I login, I have a firm 'this is what i'll do today' and will get annoyed if for some reason I don't do it.
Meh, guess it comes with my personality.

Informing people about your thoughts and impressions is not a review, it's a blog.
Here is a suggestion that will give you reward in WvW every time you log in.
Go out and get your Commander Title and get out into WvW and become a leader on your server. Bring people together and take charge. EARN the respect of your server mates, and have them actually want to listen and follow you onto the field of battle. IF you can do this, you will be rewarded like no other reward you have gotten in a game before.
IF you can do this, when you enter the field, your realmmates will call for you to show them the way. They will call on you to help them turn a bad day into a great day, to make your server the one on top...not the one draggin the rear.
And IF you can do this you will also find out that the challenge never ends, the goal never achieved, but the incentive is always there to do more.
Your gear doesn't matter, the look of it is not important, all that matters is can you be a great leader to your people or not.
Me, I intend to try this once again, I have succeded in many games in the past, and would like nothing more than to do it one more time for old times sake.
