Last minute classaclysm?

Yo,

I am not sure if this has impacted anyone else, but ... does anyone else suddenly feel like they have no idea what to play first? I mean I originally wanted to make a Mesmer, but after checking out a more in depth skill database for all the classes ... I have no idea what to play anymore. Anyone else in this boat?

Too many great skill selections across the classes is really making this difficult. I may just toss a coin and pick something at random.

I am right there with you.....I am leaning towards Asura Engineer to start...

I will be playing a Guardian as my main for PvE and will switch between him and a Warrior for sPvP

i was a little unsure of my race once asura and sylvarri came out, but i was a thief when the first anounced it, when i played the game first, and going into head start,   i just really like the mechanics

my first alt on the other hand is still in the air (almost positive it will be a ranger)

I angered the clerk in a clothing shop today. She asked me what size I was and I said actual, because I am not to scale. I like vending machines 'cause snacks are better when they fall. If I buy a candy bar at a store, oftentimes, I will drop it... so that it achieves its maximum flavor potential. --Mitch Hedberg

Only one choice. Warrior. It's the most versatile( as far as weapons go) and therefore the class for me. After learning to Master a Warrior, other classes will be much easier to learn. IMO anyways

    The Deep Web is sca-ry.

Yeah, gotta say that I really enjoy the support functionality of the skills. I am leaning towards a Guardian , Engineer , Elementalist or Ranger. I cant seem to put my finger on which one I want my main to be. I understand they have different play styles ... but from my understanding these 4 have great support functionality.

Because playing them all and maing a choice is hard?

I'm excited to learn about all of them and play them all. What better way to excell in pvp than knowing your enemy?

I'm just embracing being an alt-a-holic and planning on playing 3 classes (warrior, elementalist, guardian).

Congratulations but not everyone is an altaholic. Some peopel like to choose a class/character and concentrate on making that particular character the best it can be,for such people rolling and levelling an alt usually means the game has faield to keep them busy on thier chosen character.

So for those people this is a valid discussion and their chosen style of playing is as valid as yours or mine.

That is not always the case though Drak, in this particular case we are having difficulty choosing a class because of the skill combinations etc. I think you can take your argument and flip it as well. You could also argue that if a game does its job correctly you will roll alts because you find multiple classes interesting. This may not apply to everyone of course, but for me thats the case in GW2. I enjoyed some of the WoW classes as well where I rolled a few alts, sadly Blizzard kept changing the classes on me and I could never find a class to call home.

I think the way this game is built, it motivates you to try different classes for a bunch of interesting matchups in pve and pvp.

Its sad to admit, but I downloaded and app to make the decision for me. I was set on war and after all the playtime so far I narrowed it down to a top 3, but got lost from there when trying to decide what race to tag with the classes. After more thought than I expected to put into it I still couldn't pick a faveorite out of the 3 so I downloaded an app.

Im feeling the exact same way. I had originally thought I was gonna go Theif for sure. But I found myself loving all the classes lol.

I have 8 toons planned out. You do the math of what I am doing

A MMO is like life. It is something to cherish and enjoy upon in it journey. So why race to the end of it. In life at the end you die.

Hey I'm having trouble picking a class myself I tried quite a few during the BWE's and stress tests and liked all of them and I did say playing lots of alts is just as valid a playstyle. It was the guy I responded to that made it soudn liek not being an altaholic was a bad thing.

Typically I spend most of my time on one "Main" Character and have 1 or 2 alts when I need a break from that character but nto always for instance in DAoC I only ever had one character,In Wow I had 1 toon for for years and only roleld an alt and levelled it to max level motnhs before I quit that game for good.In Warhammer I had 3 characters and in SW:TOR I managed 2 characters before I just got too bored to continue. For me it varies.

I was in that same boat.  I had 3 choices:  Warrior, Guardian and Ranger.  Luckily I had time to play during yesterday's stress test and just had way too much fun with the warrior, so he will be the one I play at launch, although later I'm sure I'll play the others as well.

I considered 8 but each race also has at least 3 Personal Story tracks...

I am trying really really hard to narrow my choices down to a "Top 5" (maybe 6  - I pre-ordered so long ago I'm willing to drop some coin for another character slot on launch). I've never played a game before where I enjoyed almost all the class mechanics for pretty much all the classes.

Not to mention enjoying all the Starting Areas too...

I am right with you...But I have it narrowed down to 5 classes lol
  • JorgeElGuapoJorgeElGuapo Member Posts: 41

Stuggling with the same as well.....

But im also struggling with picking a race.....

Most likely going to be a Norn Warrior.

  • ToxiaToxia Member UncommonPosts: 1,308

Having more trouble deciding on what RACE i play rather than class/profession.

Don't care for Charr, so that's out, Norn area bored me, so that's out.

Asura/Human/Sylvari is still too hard to pick from....

For those that said 8, I get it...but for people who were specific, no one said Necro. I played one (new to GW) in beta and enjoyed it - am I gimping myself in PvP with a Nord Necro?

If I have to explain it, you wouldn't understand.
