As a european MMO player you should be used to that.
I am, but it is always worth pointing it out, after all I am a customer.
I've been trying for more than 3 hours and still didn't manage to login once, I only pre-purchased to book a name.
I knew I wasn't going to play for the first couple of days due to lag and disconnections, but at least I was expecting to be able to login and choose a couple of names.
I am not mad, in fact I already gave up and getting ready to go to the beach.
Just a bit disappointed by Anet, I thought they could manage a MMO launch.
I'm in the UK, takes a little to get in but once I am it's smooth sailing. The real problem I'm having is with the grouping and overflow servers. Me and brother have to mess about like crazy trying to get on the same server, 'join in' just doesn't work 90% of the time. It's happening right now, which is why I'm browsing the forums after logging out so I will hopefully be with my groupmate when I eventually get back in.
No lag issues or owt once in, it's just the damn overflow/grouping thing.
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.
first day of wow was totally uplayable, issues were to be expected
I managed to play around with character creation for a bit, but then I just get a black screen once the cinemative finishes, I'll try again later I guess
tell that to those people who are not able to download ,who are watching black sceens and how many other problems there seems to be.
Watch their support site where they say they are monitoring, yep.
Now how they promote on every single site on the universe, they go even forums writing that everything is lies if someone speaks even the truth but if someone says something which might sound bad,Anet thinks that it is important.
Now its not important to have own forums like that when the doors opens?
Playing on a US server though so I don't know if the problems were server related.
However, my server (Jade Quarry) was one out of 2 servers with the highest population since start so I doubt the other servers had it worse than mine.
With that being said, they let us in 3 hours prior to the real launch but were still patching the game till launchtime so disconnections or other issues were normal to me.
After the real launch time started (counter hit zero) I had no issues at all anymore and I'm still in the game right now which means over 3 hours in game (my sylvari currently dances in lions arch while I'm eating and checking the forums ).
So it might be connection problems or pc problems on ones end aswell.
Different systems, different servers, different reactions I guess.
Well, disaster is a bit too much maybe, it is a game after all.
NCSoft UK apparently cannot cope with the overload.
From what I am reading from various forums, very few Europeans can login or keep the connection going for more than few minutes.
Lucky Americans..............
there only is the login problem which is quickly resolved after restarting the patcher a few times, once i was in i could play for 5 hours without interuption...
Stop calling for dissaster, or you might actually get a personal one
Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)
Well I'm playing on the Aurora's Glade EU from South Africa and haven't had a single issue logging in, I've had absolutely no lag at all and have yet to get disconnected. Been online for 3-4 hours now (with one relog inbetween)...
European server here. Started up the game, created character, started playing. Zero lag.
That is not a disaster, according to me.
People will have different experiences of course, but to me it seems most people have a pretty good launch. People comparing this to D3 release obviously didn't visit the Blizz forums the first week at release.
I'm playing from the UK and I got in fine at first. Quickly created my 5 characters to claim the names, then the game black screen and I couldn't log-in. 15 mins later I got in after repeatedly trying, which sucked, but once I got in the game was fine. Played for about 4 hrs now the game just crashed to desktop. Gonna use this oppotunity to actually eat some breakfast and hopefully I'll be able to log in again.
Lucky I'm on holiday but seriously if anyone takes my ingame name I will eat them. Actually I won't, but it will seriously kill any desire to play the game.
Took me 1 hour to logon. Finally was able to logon and my standard name (not used by any one else so far in any MMO I played) was taken (THANK YOU F***ING NAME STEALER). Was able to play for about 45 minutes, got kicked and am ever since trying to logon without any luck.
Diablo 3 had much worse launch problems, and if you are willing to say that Blizzard doesn´t have the money to fix good servers, you probably won´t find any better company to do the job.
PS. I please you to not begin commenting, un-realistc, comments about how Funcom pwned Blizzard and Ncsoft because they had better luanch and I also please to check the player-base first before commenting.

Im starting to understand whey they dont have forums, they dont need to give any official answers.
seems like its a disaster for many and they prepared for that by ignoring them in advance.
Let's internet

They are comunicating quite a bit on their facebook page. and allowing feedback there.

Music is the science of manipulating people trough sound.
I'm located in Germany and have no issues.

EU here. Central Europe. Poland.
Cannot log-in for 1,5 h already.
Those of my friends that logged in earlier in the morning are playing without huge problems.
Those that woke up bit later got short end of a stick and also noone from them can log-in.
Took me 1 hour to logon. Finally was able to logon and my standard name (not used by any one else so far in any MMO I played) was taken (THANK YOU F***ING NAME STEALER). Was able to play for about 45 minutes, got kicked and am ever since trying to logon without any luck.
Yeah, really a disaster for me.
Only a fanboy would call something like this BS.
You think you are the world? Just because you got on doesnt mean anything. Go ahead, log off and try to get back in again i dare you.
Here is your BS https://twitter.com/GuildWars2
