Games, in and of themselves have no intrinsic value. They are only worth what someone is willing to pay for them. I got to thinking about this because I would buy the game if I didn't have to pay a subscription. Other people have a different value associated with the game. I was wondering what the most common value associated with the game was.
So, the poll is simple. What is the highest amount you'd pay to play the game?
If you have a different price at which you'd play the game, post it in the comments below.
There are only 10 options, so there's no "Muffins" option here, sorry.

Sorry, but I prefer games with montly subscription.
Cash shops will cost you more over time + it gives us gamers shallow content.
For me TSW is well worth a lifetime subscription, and this should have been an option as well
I ran out of options and I forgot about the lifetime subs. I probably could have gone to 12 or 13 options with no problem.
Thank you for the postage.

"classification of games into MMOs is not by rational reasoning" - nariusseldon
Love Minecraft. And check out my Youtube channel OhCanadaGamer

Imo The Secret World is definitely in the top 3 for best MMO's available right now.
The only reason it's not doing well is because it's not the popular fantasy setting, and it has some innovative features, and most people like to stick to the tried and tested way of gaming. In other words, this game was only ever going to have a niche audience. That doesn't make it a bad game.
Im sorry, but maybe I should have stated that, that right there is my opinion. Obviously, I couldnt say that the game is bad for you, everyone has different taste and what not. I was simply answering the question asked.
Still, I seriously doubt if the game was F2P you wouldn't be playing. It's a great game imo, if the game was F2P it would be booming with very happy players.
Current price + sub is fine with me. Did the same with WoW, Aion, LOTRO and many others.
Edit: I don't understand the complaints about $15 sub fees. They are the same for most all AAA titles and discounted the longer you sub.
I chose "zip, at any price" because I honestly do not see myself playing this game even if it goes f2p. It's possible that I might change my mind later on if they do something to address the issues I have with the combat system but I don't have much hope of that happening based on my experiences with AO and AOC.
I would pay a monthly sub, I prefer that being nickled and dimed for bag and bank space and all that crap.
That Guild Wars 2 login screen knocked up my wife. Must be the second coming!
Really like the game. I've bought it on Amazon sale for 25$. I wasn't sure it's worth the money and it has no trial (it should!).
If I could try it before buying I'd pay full price afterwards without hesitation. It's worth it.
Still I dont think subscription is justified.
I dont like the game, so why would I play it even if it was free? And its speculation to think that if it was free, it would be booming with players, at least according to this poll so far. Anyway, Funcom is doing extremly bad right now. The heads of the company sold their shares right before the launch and up until now, already knowing it would flop, and is now being investigated for illegal transactions and what not. They obviously didnt want this game to have as you call it, a niche audience.
The game has a 3 day free trial not sure what you're talking about.
All of my posts are either intelligent, thought provoking, funny, satirical, sarcastic or intentionally disrespectful. Take your pick.
I get banned in the forums for games I love, so lets see if I do better in the forums for games I hate.
I enjoy the serenity of not caring what your opinion is.
I don't hate much, but I hate Apple© with a passion. If Steve Jobs was alive, I would punch him in the face.
I voted $39.99 and no sub. With no subscription, I'd probably pay $49.99 because it is a decent game, but I'm pretty cheap, so $39.99 with no sub.

It's not always about money. If it was, every free to play game out there would have every MMORPG player in there at least once. What a person likes is a factor at some point.

b2p without a cash shop would be great for players(my preferred), But it would suck for business.
Box+Sub would be a great middle ground and the best for both parties I believe.
It is an amazing product but it would seem that a large segment gamers are moving away from the content presented.
if they moved to a f2p model it would be a disaster. How can you get people to buy from your cash shop that arnt willing to pay the small charge of a $15 sub?
Its not a single player game im sorry, It is infact an mmorpg - an on going service.
TSW - AoC - Aion - WOW - EVE - Fallen Earth - Co - Rift - || XNA C# Java Development

I didn't address the cash shop because it would exist whether there was a subscription or not. The only way to avoid the existence of a cash shop where players could buy additional things would be not playing the game. Also, I ran out of space.
In regards to a cash shop working without destroying the spirit of the game...I'm not sure. What I am sure of is if they don't do something, having a subscription isn't going to help the game.

I did some silly calculations to try and see what changing the price of the game would get Funcom. Using 200,000 as being 29.3% of the total number of people who might buy the game, we get 682,594 people. That is their entire market. 22% will not buy the game at all, so 150,171 will not purchase the game, ever. That leaves 332,423 people who would purchase the game at some price point below what the game is being offered now.
What does this mean? I don't know. I'm not even sure if what I'm doing makes sense since I just made it up. I think what it could mean is that the market for the game is pretty small to start with and they need to expand the market more than anything else. Offering the game at discounted prices will not net them that much more money compared to what they've already taken in.

I'd join it if it would be something like:
1 week free, and then a sub.
Let's play Fallen Earth (blind, 300 episodes)
Let's play Guild Wars 2 (blind, 45 episodes)
