    While I am very very excited to try this game I just cant get excited by the screenshots.  Most of the character models just look really poor to me.  Many of the creatures seem to have neat models though and the spell effects look terrific.

    Hey Misti..so what exactly do you mean when you say the character models look poor to you...is it just these pictures or is it on a whole. Cause we have seen lots of the characters in other shots and the character developement video too...

    Thats a good question Nala.  Its not that I think they have done a really bad job or anything, its just my personal taste doesnt match up with the character screens I have seen. 

    When I look at pictures of characters from say Lineage 2, and compare it to a Horizons character it just seems like the Lineage 2 characters are much more detailed, more stylized, more like living breathing people.  Even WoW's characters, though cartoonish, have more style and flare.  The horizons characters just seem blocky, dead, and wiithout much detail.

    The fact that the creature and magic graphics are so nice just makes the characters stand out as poorer quality to me.  I still think Horizons could be one of the best games coming out for gameplay but I just cant personally get all that excited about many of the screenshots.  Maybe seeing them actually moving in the game will give me a different perspective and I hope it does.

    I see your point there...I guess that it is hard...although I do have to remind myself that often times screenshots are of a much lower quality than other screenshots..I have seen amazing Horizons ones and then less than amazing..hopefully for you, what you see in game will live up to your personal preferences more than the screenshots have...so you are still planning on playing the game though0-right? What is it people say..that good graphics are nice...but gameplay is better and more important- although Misti...I really think that we might be pleasantly surprised by the graphics in game over the graphics in screenshots.

    I'm in the gameplay camp if i had to choose. good graphics are great, but it's become kind of the standard now. Good gameplay has kind of suffered a bit to the need to pour so much time and effort into making the graphics engines. Don't get me wrong, i totally appreciate high quality textures and models and stuff, but I also remember having great game experiences with games like Ultima III which by graphics standards is kind of hilarious now. Anyway, I'm optimistic that the Horizons devs are going to keep the content levels high quality, especially since I know the crafting system has so much in it.

    Oh I am going to try it out for sure.  From what I have read about their gameplay ideas, if they can pull those things off, there isnt another mmorpg that will even come close to this one.  I dont think graphics make the game but they do have a big impact for me.

    Even with my current opinion of the graphics, Horizons just sounds too fun to let that stop me from at least playing it a while to see first hand and decide then.

    I plan to buy and try Horizons, EQ2, Lineage 2, and WoW and then try to make the increadibly difficult decision of which one to continue playing.  To me the perfect game would have Lineage 2 or WoW graphics, Horizons gameplay, and EQ races and culture.  image
