Blizzard are like bioware, used to make good games but are now riding on their reputation. Just that bioware started the decline earlier.
I expect Titan to be swtor bad.
I agree with everything except expecting it to be SWTOR bad. I don't think it'll be a bad game, but it will absolutely be over-hyped over the web and in particular, on this forum. You'd think the people here would learn that NO game lives up to its promises.

They're all very vague and cite non-disclosure agreements as the reason they are vague... but knowing they must be vague no real justification for opening their mouths in the first place except to be shocking...
Blizzard's next mmo I'd imagine will take a leaf from SWG and allow players to buzz around a galaxy, find huge planets to set up their own space settlements and gear up huge space-faring ships (multiplayer controlled) to go and do stuff. Think Avatar mixed with Wow + some Star Wars (ships)?
It's natural progression from wow: Take what they're good at, and create a vision that makes mmo-players familiar with their products, think: "Wow. Space!"

I have no idea if they have plans on social games: Isn't that more Zynga, DeNa etc territory?

Could say the game thing about Guild Wars 2.
On topic; Titan will be catered to the masses, like all Blizzard games, does that make it bad? No. Not all gaming companies have to cater to small niche markets.

WC2 is the true classic.
SC is a classic too, agreed. More succesfull and more polished than WC2. And just plain out fun.
WC3 was a huge letdown when released. It was the first bad blizzard game. Gameplay was a mess, and the engine/gfx bad even for the times. DoTA is the only reason the game was not lost to history.
SC2 was exactly what it should be. No more no less. A polished version of SC.
I think Titan will be a video game. Not fully certain.
But on a serious note, i'm really interested in it along with EQ next and WOD mainly because of all the secret behind them and the fact that the companies (Blizz, SOE and CCP) and titles which are legends in the genre (WOW, EQ, EVE).
It's funny how these projects are gaining so much speculation and interesting just from the insanely small amount of info on them. I really look forward to see what each of them will be like.
As for myself, i have no clue. I could really be anything at this point. RPG or shooter. Instanced or open world. Quest/dungeon based or sandbox. Anything.
BTW, it seems most people think Titan will a sci-fi mmo. Don't know where thsi idea came from.
I think Titan will be Starcraft: Ghost, or Warcraft Adventures:Lord of the Clans, that's right I'm old.
We will get at least 2-3 trailers for the game, 1 or 2 gameplay videos, and a lot of screenshots. Then the game will disappear like nothing ever happened, and anyone at Blizzard will have forgotten it or if they mention it they are dragged of by men in black suits.
The more I'm around the forums on this site, the more bitter I become.
Originally posted by Dragonantis Titan is just a clever marketing tactic to keep the focus on Blizzards future, but that future will never come so long as WoW keeps strong. Blizzard wouldnt release a game that would directly compete with their flagship title. When the day comes that WoW is shutdown, then they would begin actioning a new game.
It's much more likely that Titan is at least playable alpha already. It would be bad business to sit and wait for WoW to finally die off before taking action on a new game idea considering how long it takes to develop one of these games. Also, if Titan is nothing like a traditional themepark MMO, it won't really compete much with WoW anyway.
It's all speculation, but I'm sure they are very far along in development by now, as smart business would dictate.
A sure sign that you are in an old, dying paradigm/mindset, is when you are scared of new ideas and new technology. Don't feel bad. The world is moving on without you, and you are welcome to yell "Get Off My Lawn!" all you want while it happens. You cannot, however, stop an idea whose time has come.
Wc3 reinvented a few things, and was also the best rts of its era, and probably blizzard best game to date. I really like wc3 its a classic.
History revisionism for the win.
WC3 was not recieved well. It sold good based on WC2, but reviewer where pretty negative about it. (I mean, not outright hate, but in the 80% area, which is pretty bad compared to how high profile the game was.)
Please dont use meteacritic as a counter to this. Most review there are form many years later, after the DoTA craze had hit. Also printed reviews were still the primary medium of serious reviews back then.
Titan is suppose to be very different from Wow, I frankly dont think it will do nearly as well as Wow did.
On the other hand do I expect Blizzard to release Wow 2 2016 or so and that will do very well indeed.Because if Titan dont deliver to Activisions expectations Wow 2 is the only sure way for them to earn insane amounts of money, and frankly would I be surprised if they havnt put a small team on it already.
Revealing Wow 2 before Titan is out on the other hand would be a bad idea, some of the Blizzard fans could decide to wait for it instead, and it might hurt Wows expansion sales numbers so they will do it behind locked doors for now.
Of course, that is only me guessing, but every game Blizz made since 1996 have either been a sequel or had one later besides Wow and Wow is their greatest success. Anyone thinking they will do sequels for all game except the one that made them really rich needs to think some more.
I think Titan will be Starcraft: Ghost, or Warcraft Adventures:Lord of the Clans, that's right I'm old.

Love your Manny forum icon. If Titan could be 1/10 the game that Grim Fandango was, well...I'd at least buy it. Maybe I'd play it. Maybe I'd love it. But I doubt Blizzard has the heart left to make another high caliber game. Diablo 3 was sad, to say the least, and I had really been looking forward to that. I just don't think they have it in them anymore. If they prove me wrong....I'll be elated!

Thinking about it, I'm not sure why I posted these except for the origin of the sims reference.
The people who have been doing the GM redits are mostly just CS people, they would have no clue what Titan is about. Not to be rude, but GMs are very low paid people who are very low on the totem pole.. they are not in big meetings.
Next, we will not hear anything about Titan until a few months after MoP. They do not want to steal any thunder from MOP sales. They do not want anyone who is considering buying MOP to think that Titan will make it obsolete.
Titan will be CoD based.. a first person shooter. It will not compete with WOW except both will have a subscripton fee and you will get a discount is subscribed to both. There is NO way it is going to be a sims type thing.. now with the people they have working on it. When people say it will be a social game, it means it will be group combat with your battlenet friends... again, think COD.
WOW is a very open program... there are a lot of technical problems they have been able to solve within the game.. things like account level achievements, cross-realm LFD and the new CRZs just shows how able they are to do some pretty intimidating technical stuff with the engine they already have. One of the devs said when asked about WOW2... ´ there is no reason to have a WOW2 because anything we would want to do in WOW2 we could just do in WOW.
Well I am hoping its a true MMORTS, 3 faction, PvP focus - as to the comment that is must a facebook game cus blizzard said they want it to be social well thats just silly, all MMO's are designed to be soical doesn't mean you need a facebook account to play them.
Next year I am sure we'll all learn what Titan is until then we're just pissing in the wind.

Thats actually what u do. WC III RoC was recived overhelming well it was a huge step from wc2 and totaly different unlike what we see nowdays with cheap SC2. The game had through the border good reviews. Even if it had 80% 10 years ago that meant a good game unlike nowdays were SWTOR and GW 2 get 9/10 reviews because they have big companys behind them. (It had actually reviews of 93% all over the place) Dota craze was in 2006 no one changed the reviews for a 4 year old games by that time.

I think his point was that SC2 didn't really move forward, it was just more of the same. To be honest, I love it. That doesn't bother me at all lol.
I don't like d3 though.

for me, StarCraft2 was a dissapointment after the legacy of Starcraft back in late 90s
im basing my opinion on solo play of SC2 compared to SC1
solo play of SC2 was shorter missions than SC1 but with more movies
- the overall SC2 story was shorter too
SC1 had a rich story among 3 factions that was engrossing for plots and turns and lore
for multiplayer,
SC2 is probably comparable to SC1 (minus player maps) but i was disappointed with single player SC2

sc2 has 2 expansions slated, though one's in beta now... and I don't really think sc1's story was all that, except kerrigan.
edit : before broodwar... ^^
i cannot speak for Blizzard
but i know SOE has been trying to integrate social media more
like having monthly Facebook competitions between EQ1 and EQ2 posting likes on FB site, to receive ingame rewards for whatever game has more likes

yeh and eq2 is the game testing the webcam-to-avatar face expression software... i noticed that in OP's post this thread.
not that blizzard couldn't do it... but right now sony is doing it.
facebook is a phase but integrating w social media is not

It was publicly stated that "Titan" has been in a playable alpha for quite some time.
Jokes aside, "Titan" is in danger of becoming vaporware as Vivendi decides what it wants to do with Blizzard.
Maybe it will be WoW 2.
