Beyond any doubt and I'm only 5/8 of the way to level cap, 32% map completion, only a few stints in WvWvW, and just a couple AC runs.  On just one character.

Looking forward to stretching that $60 for a long time.  Well, maybe a bit more as I might throw some cash Anet's way this Christmas.  So, maybe a total of $100.  That will hold me until the first expansion at least.

EDIT:  The $60 I spent on a second copy for my wife and kids was apparently well spent also as they love the game too.

You want me to pay to play a game I already paid for???

    Be afraid.....The dragons are HERE!

This is a GW2 fan site?  Since when?

If it was a single player game then the answer is an easy yes.

But in an MMO you expect longevity and your time spent to have meaning in the future, something this game is sorely lacking.

No but it is a GW2 forum.

Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not.

As horrendously bored of the game as I was by level 51 (I have managed to get to 62 since then, but it never got more fun), I can't really say it was a waste of money. I might feel that way after another few months of not playing, much like I now feel about Diablo 3 (put a whole whopping 9 hours into that), but given that it's a 1 time buy, I think it's too early to make that claim.

I have not yet gotten $60 worth, though. I've put about 20 hours total into the game, experienced all facets of gameplay, except for WvW, which I've never been able to join, and I just have no interest in playing anymore... I actually find myself playing emulated console games on my cell phone instead, or just going to bed early.

I still peruse the forums at work, on occasion, waiting for the inevitable "group play is less shitty," "fine ingredients are less rare," and "thousands of new armor and weapon skins added" patches; so my interest isn't completely gone. I also get amused reading fanboys(and girls) bully people around on this forum, which I never would have seen without the game... so that alone might be worth it.

No, I did not get my money's worth. I still have gems to spend.

  • fiontarfiontar Member UncommonPosts: 3,682
Over 300 hours already, so it's been worth well more than I paid for it and I'm still going strong. I've had to lower my expectations of MMOs in the last few years and figure if I got 60 hours from a title, it was worth the box price. Well, then, GW2 has already been worth five times as much as other MMOs I've purchased in the last few years and with no subscription fee, the value will just increase with every additional hour I get from it.

Pretty sure I got my money's worth in beta.

I only consider games I played for longer then a few months to be any good and as such the only 3 games Ive played for any length of time are Asherons Call, WoW and GW2 so IMO GW2 is an amazing game that I could see myself playing for years to come.

GW2 is by my reckoning the best released MMO since WoW!

Everything you need to know about Elder Scrolls Online

    Playing: GW2
    Waiting on: TESO
    Next Flop: Planetside 2
Best MMO of all time: Asheron's Call - The first company to recreate AC will be the next greatest MMO.

everyone opinions are different so it just goes to show

either way the game is pretty good

im really unsure what people expect anymore.

if its to hard people complain

if its to easy people complain

if you dont like guildwars 2 then dont bother with any other mmorpgs. mmos/online rpgs arent for you

pretty broad statement but seems to be the case.

I was hesitant to pick this up after Beta, but went with it because all my friends and guildies were going to play. 1 month in, and my highest character is 47. I've tried a few dungeon runs, I've tried WvWvW, I've crafted, I've quested/explored, I've alted a bit (nothing too intense). I would say that I haven't gotten my money's worth because I just don't feel compelled to play this game right now. That said, the investment spans the lifetime of the game. If they drastically changed group-pve for the better... My interest may return and I could see the value of the investment.

by fixing group pve you mean?

    by adding the holy trinity?

    and 40 man raids?

    making things super easy?

    you make me curious explain

182 hours, far from done with the game so yes
  • SaintPhilipSaintPhilip Member Posts: 713

    - Well, I totally got my moneys worth (and am somewhere in the mid 40s levelwise)

Not going to bother getting sucked into the drama and banned again- GW2 was overhyped which is the REASON we see so many "hate " threads (many of which I agree with their points)- I knew what I was getting and thus am happy.

A fun game, casual and no sub. I have already logged about 40 hours or so (this is a total guess) and in short spurts it can be a blast. I feel I ALREADY got my moneys worth but know I will still be playing a few hours a week.

Does it lack "depth"? Yes, I feel it does. But thats OKAY and personally what I wanted and expected. I wanted (and got) a game I do not have to be married to and once I get another game to steal most of my time, this will be a nice break to play.

200 hours of fun for 'just' 50 bucks is worth it for me personally.

I never understood why people need 360days /played before they know it was worth the money lol. (mmo-)Gaming is BY FAR my cheapest hobby.

Sports, books, movies, the pub! it's all extremely expensive to maintain.

OP: yup got my money out of it, and still enjoying the ride so far :)

200+ hours of entertainment, with that number rising daily.

If that isn't worth the purchase price then I really don't know what is.

I don't know if I did or not. I made it to lvl 33 before I got completely bored of running around solo all the time looking for content and finding the same few events running over again.

I would say probably yeah, but it's fairly borderline. I felt like I had to force myself to play after lvl 20.

Yeah and I just randomly give people stuff like 1G, part of  legendary weapons, etc so I have more than enough stuff to go around and usually get greatful responses instead of thanks cya >.< which is a nice change from other communities.

This isn't a signature, you just think it is.

By the way, I see everyone is saying like :

"Yeah.. I only paid 50 bucks(even though it was more like 60 actually), and played 200 hours. This proves that I actualy had fun in those 200 hours I think, I am right arent I? Yeah.. so It means that I didn't waste my 50(60) bucks for nothing. That must be it. Yeah I gotta trust myself. Yeah I gotta trust myself. I didn't waste money... I didn't...."

If a game is really successful, there is no discussions or self-excuses like this.

For exampe, I never seen this kind of topic for Starcraft 1 or Diablo 1,2.
