I did not think I will get this book before Tuesday. I knew it will be cool, but when I openned the book it took my breath away.
Folks! This book is amazing. It's awesome, stunning, it's everything fan of SWTOR, no hell, fan of Star Wars would want to have.
Just for a moment here to share I don't think I will even play game tonight LOL, the book is fascinating.

While I am sometimes outspoken that EA should, eh, readjust their priorities with SWTOR to make it more Star Wars'y, the Old Republic history is pretty cool. I enjoyed the novels. The game seems lacking and uhh not very inspired, though story was great (delivery not so much), and music was amazing.
The youtube video you linked was more impressive than the other links, because it shows what is actually inside the encyclopedia. If this ever hits my local wholesale retailer, which I imagine it will, I'll pick it up.

Recognize the voice? Yep sounds like Penny Arcade's Extra Credits.
Yup.
Expect the price to plummet based on the failed brand alone.
All in all, I laugh, as this is another example of attention being brought to a failing/falling game, that EA would like to forget about.
The game failed to deliver, but the books are nice. Separate the two.

At least is a game to play with real people and is not full of bots, hackers and farmers .
Haven't seen that book so can't comment on it but if you are an avid star wars fan i'd highly suggest this

I angered the clerk in a clothing shop today. She asked me what size I was and I said actual, because I am not to scale. I like vending machines 'cause snacks are better when they fall. I agree. I resubbed after 6 months just to check it out, and I'm a little disturbed at how bare bones the game feels, really. Things like crafting, the auction house (galactic market), guilds, PvP, are totally undeveloped. There is still no ship customization. Cantina's are basically useless. I miss SWG, a lot. The game as it is just feels like an anemic, underdeveloped, Star Wars themed WoW, unfortunately.
The story-telling can be entertaining, but that's about it.

If the game failed then the gamers allowed it to fail. I guess it's easier to blame it on the others like BW, EA, the devs etc. I guess that means there's more room for me to play without all the hubbub, bub.
Langsdorff
so Tabula Rasa and FFXIV and the likes are all the fault of the gamers?

Thanks OP.
While I find the game really lacking this encyclopeia looks great. Wish I had this instead of the crappy statue in the CE.
Going to order it for sure.
I think i am going to grab a copy for myself. Looks fabulous.
Just because a couple of million didnt like it.. no need to take it to heart.. seriously though, i thought the whole book thing was some kind of joke, and i was waiting for the punchline.. turns out it really exists.. why it exists however, will probably be one of those great unanswered questions.. along with, why does the water turn a different colour in swimming pools around certain people.. honestly though, i think their taking the P with the whole Book thing.. awesome
I want a mmorpg where people have gone through misery, have gone through school stuff and actually have had sex even. -sagil
From a business point of view, it is fairly easy to explain: it was in the pipeline a long time; certainly before the release of TOR and for the first 8+ months after launch. It was planned, contracted for, and slated for distribution at a time anticipated to keep the hype going for TOR.
It was not anticipated that TOR would crash in such a spectacular manner in the interim.
But since the book was already "paid for", might as well put it out and recoup some of the cost, assuming there are some SW suckers out there that will buy anything with SW on it (which there are). Even for a "failed" game.
Still makes me laugh tho... hope they cut the printing run...
Am I on the right site? Is this really a thread about SWTOR that is not completely negative!? I am in disbelief....
The book does look very nice BTW.
Heheh. It's not for everyone (understandably), but I think the $15 is worth playing through some storylines with friends and such even with it's flaws.
"Small minds talk about people, average minds talk about events, great minds talk about ideas."
Ooohh nice.
Havent been a overly big fan of the Extended Universe books, but I love all Star Wars lore. I can, and do, spend a lot of time reading the Wookiepedia.
Thnx Aerowyn.

np.. it's expensive but well worth it for any star wars nut like myself:)

I actually really enjoyed the game for a while. I've just gotten used to the constant overwhelming negativity towards it on this forum. I really think the game is much better than people give it credit for and I don't think it deserves most of the crap people are giving it. I'm really glad to see some positive threads here and there...
