I've seen some people complain about GW2's combat recently, and some have linked to TERA to show how combat 'should be'.
Well, if you want a more 'true' action-combat experience, you're in luck!
[mod edit - link removed]
Below the video is a link to where to go about DLing / installing it. It turns GW2 into reticle based combat, and can be toggled on and of (for use of things like menus & such). Really smooth, and a really well made mod.
Enjoy.

If this isn't going to get us banned I would use this in a heartbeat, i'm so sick of holding down right click to pivot the camera after playing TERA, it's just an unnecessary burden in these tab-target games.
It's perfectly safe. It's explained on the reddit link.
Anet's stance on MODs are very specific as to what they disprove of.
Is Combat Mode Legal?
Forum Mods have said in the past that all 3rd party mods are illegal, however this is not the case. As Gaile Gray, a dev at Arena Net explains here. Its not that they dont approve of mods, its that they dont have the time and resources to approve of each specific mod, and dont want to be held responsible if a mod has malicious code and something goes wrong.
Mods are not allowed if they alter game files, or automate any action. Combat Mode does neither of these, it just alters the keys your mouse sends to the game client, and every click performs a 1:1 action in game. Mods that give the user and advantage are also illegal, but as many have pointed out, Combat Mode gives a slight disadvantage if anything, as you cant put Ground target abilities out of LoS or directly behind your character.
That's AN's official and highest authority response on the matter. If you're not comfortable using CM for any reason, DO NOT USE IT.
If you are still worried about it, that's understandable, but quite a few people have started using it already. I honestly don't see Anet banning people for using such a mod, as it doesn't alter game files, give an unfair advantage, or exploit the game in anyway. All it does is change the way the interface is used for combat for ease of use (something which can mostly do in game, but the mod makes it easier to use and adds the reticle for aiming).
Kinda sounds like a more rigid way that I play already. I tend to stay in mouselook in most games and turn off just to use menus most of the time, unless it's a trageted ability.
Guess this mod is more for those that want it in a strictly enforced fashion?

The spoonfeeding is there for people with no notion of exploration centric content and can be skipped altogether. Theres also the option to turn off all or some of the Map UI elements in the lower left corner of the map to foster that gameplay.
And being able to tackle all content without taking damage is piss poor game methodology and it suited to a single player game and not an MMO.

I say make a mod that plays the game for me while I watch tv and drink beer!
It seems we always look for something easier even when it was designed simple to begin with.
Thank you for the info though OP. I am going to pass, if I want gameplay like Tera's again I will resub. I purchased the game, played it for about a week and quit. The combat is good but that is all I can say about the game. The rest was less spectacular and had more fun with Aion's content.
edit: Awesome! I"m not sure if the ad in the corner is region based, but in the OPs GW2 Combat Mod, there is a spectacular recipe for Rice Crispy Treats in the corner of the Mod link given by the OP! Here is the direct link. Oh man, this was the best part about the mod info!
Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not.
the thing is that it only feels will feel kinda like tera's combat but the alt tab will be there just not so much noticable....
i mean if you got a mob in front of you and no other and u are not aiming at the mob but 1 meter left or right of mob still will be hit it... so thats is still alt tab with the alt tab... its only the feel and thats might work for some..
If Anet could pull off a true action combat like tera then by all means yes.. i did prefered teras combat..
The problem with making "exploration" optional is that it reduces the "explorer"-density on a server which reduces the exploring-related communication density. At some point though most of the information and mapping will be available through wikis, but by then at least a few weeks of the "exploration" phase would have occurred which I think would be very memorable for those who participated during those weeks.
Just imagine not even knowing the names of NPCs and enemies until you actually asked for the names of them or found out through other means. Imagine letting the player name the enemies/NPCs themselves and imagine different NPCs giving you different names for the same thing.
Imagine if GW2 had support to let you make your own map which you design to a large extent yourself (see "Etrian Odyssey map" for a such example in another game).
When you make "exploration" optional, you create ridiculous situations such as an "explorer" asking a "non-explorer" about directions when the "non-explorer" has learnt the directions through his "exploration"-off choice rather than through conventional explorer means; the situation is in many ways equivalent with the "explorer" simply turning off the "explorer mode" directly to get the directions.

As for: "And being able to tackle all content without taking damage is piss poor game methodology and it suited to a single player game and not an MMO."
It can be done in many multiplayer FPSs and it can be done in many multiplayer Beat-em-up! games. It is not a foreign and "piss poor game methodology"; it is a matter of taste about how far player skill should be able to take you.
Painful RNG and lack of content? Yeah it's why we all quit...
Anyways, been tweaking around with the mod, it takes a little while to get it feeling more fluid and actioney. Left click is my attack(and it instantly targets the mob you click on), right click is my dodge(can react much quicker with right click than any key IMO) and to place AOEs I just click at the mobs feet and it places it there(aiming takes a bit of practice but it's much easier and more effective once you get the hang of it).
And obviously moving the mouse moves the camera. So it eliminates annoying tab targetting, double clicking for AOE placement and holding down right click to pivot the camera.
Must say it does take some getting used to with GW2s combat but it's pretty fun once I get the hang of it.
