Hi. I just got trial account on Rift. The server I'm currently in is totally empty, at least in starting areas. Maybe There is some other server, where all ppl are and new players play?
Try the RPPVE server Faeblight. It always seems crowded to me and lots of groups always forming. Server transfers are free and instant every 7 days.

same thing...i have not seen a single soul anywhere on the server i'm on for the trial. makes me quite skeptical about subbing to SL.
only other MMO i've ever seen that was SWG. i played for awhile till i got bored....came back like a year later to check it out and there was not a single player to be seen.
Sadly not the PvP shards... don't know why everyone in Rift is so carebear... I'm not even a huge pvper but I find it so much more boring when no PvP action is going on between sides during play.
I made a character on a Wolfsbane now. Before that I was at Deepstrike. On Wolfsbane I finally started to see some other players, though not a lot. But still better than being the only one on Deepstrike.

I started out on Deepstrike when Rift released. It had a high population. It was open PVP. But one thing I noticed. The people who PVP was important too, weren't on these servers. They were the pathetic idiots who had no ability for real PVP and no coordination to do instancing who's only form of endgame entertainment was to continuously gank and harass levelers. I get the idea that PVP can happen at any time, but when you arne't allowed to play the game because there is a guild of 50s taking shifts to kill any and all low level players in the leveling zones, it loses it's value.
I'm not kidding. this is what went on last year. They really stuck it out for a while. Once the transfers opend up, people had already had enough.
I wouldn't judge the active server population by the trial servers. I'm on Deepwood Defiance and it is very well populated. I hopped around to a few servers after mine went to a trial server and settled there. That's one of the great things... if you don't like the server you are on you can easily switch.

If you play on European servers try Icewatch - lots of ppl play here, I have no idea about US shards

I want to go back to Rift, but pointless if no one is playing. Hence I am here, is there any good pop servers atm?

Back to Topic:
In the US you will want Faeblight, Wolfsbane, Deepwood or Greybriar. They are all decently populated.
Frankly it doesn't matter since you get free transfers.
