I've bought three busts in a row. WAR,AOC,and GW 2. If UW gets me game locked , I'm gonna upgrade my PC.If ity fails I'm giving up on morpg's indefinately.
Chin up my friend. Next year it looks like Sandbox games are going to make a comeback. I have to say I do stand with you on this one, games have become a shame and players make me feel ashamed sometimes to be part of the community.
If I quit video games I am going to have to filled the void some how. I heard crack is good for taking up some of your spare time.
I loved Darkfall, so I'm pretty certain UW is going to do well by me. We shall see, though...
And I'm kinda with you, OP. I haven't found an MMO that can hold my interest since Darkfall. If I burn out on UW, I don't know that I'll quit MMOing forever, but it'll be a long hiatus. Maybe I'm just getting old or something.
I'd ask you not to give up on the genre just yet but you picked not one, not two, but three mmorpgs that are so far different than what you are now banking your whole decision on if you should continue playing that it's hard for me to take you seriously.
That's like me saying I played Darkfall, EvE and Mortal Online. Now I going to pick up Storm Legion and if it doesn't impress me I'm giving up on the entire genre. Ask yourself does that even make sense?

No amount of wishful thinking can make a game based on FFA full looting PvP a success. Couple this with the initial release failure and the really horrible looking combat animations of this new game. A niche game will always remain a niche game.
Playing: GW2 Waiting on: TESO Next Flop: Planetside 2 Best MMO of all time: Asheron's Call - The first company to recreate AC will be the next greatest MMO.
The last two mmorps I liked were DAoC and SB.I love the politics and treachery in GvG type games.I can't stand solo player games with a sub.
I played SB when it went FtP and was in a disasterous state, but I still really liked to log on and roll with my crew every night. No othert game since has captured me since.
UW doen't have to be perfect and polished(bab, bah, bah) for me to get into it.
Online gaming for me has been pretty dead for a while. But that's because of my own specific wants. I want a game that is essientially a carbon-copy of Eve-online but with twitch combat. I don't really care if it's in space, but I really dislike how developers are too scared to implement item and equipment destruction. Equipment shouldn't be common in looting, it should be player built. Resources should be what's lootable. Individual resources shouldn't be spread out all over the place, but rather should be distributed so that people would have to trade, or take by force. And I don't really like free-for-all PvP everywhere. I think there should be some safe areas, or at least protected areas, for people to play in, even if it's just a small percentage of the game world.

Themeparks have sucked lately and judging by the last 3 you played I would recommend steering clear from themeparks for a while. I would delve into sandboxes and DF but I would caution you that there isnt alot of construction in DF, so keep your eye out for the next sandbox with great construction also, IE Repopulation, etc. DF is fun though, the danger factor definately gives survival the adrenalin factor. I just hope they retain first person capability with ranged.
I feel you OP. Not only did I buy the ones you mentioned, but SWTOR, DCUO and FFXIV as well. I enjoyed SWTOR until the dev pulled the rug out. I enjoy GW2 a lot, but I think once you've hit 80 and have WvW'd for a month or so you run out of stuff to do pretty quick. I've found myself pretty bored lately.
Looking forward to UW, Wizardry Online, Neverwinter and TESO. However, it's hard to say how long I'll continue to spend my money on MMO's when they seem to flop one after another.
Last game I was able to play for a year or more was LOTRO. The last two expansions have been horrible though. Before that it was DAoC for me. I'm at the point where I don't care if the game is hardcore ffa pvp or if it's pve heavy. I just want something that's going to keep me busy for a long time, and will continue to sustain itself with new content.

Um what do you call ultima online or asherons call. Plz do not be ignorant to games tgat started mmos or to full loot period. You are talking about sonething you obviously have no clue about.
Save yourself the money and just quit while you're ahead. Face it, you'll never get that feeling of when you played your first MMO back, its like a drug.
OP I've also bought many of the same mmos that you've gotten plus a couple more and everytime I'm utterly dissapointed. Its been like this for a long time. Although I have extremely high hopes for planetside 2. I've played a lot of the beta and haven't played for about 3 weeks because I don't want to have to start over again at release. This game is going to be one of the best mmo's to hit the market in a while. I really suggest giving it a try when it comes out, just hope you like fps'

I'll need to give a few sandboxes a whirl before I can say that...

Wow. Smh, honestly I have to blame you. You bought into the hype of those games and was disappointed, yet critics gave you a early warning about each of them.

Its your own fault.
If you read the paid critics, they hyped up the game to the sky. If you read the negative gamer critics, you would never buy a game because there will always be people hating on games.

And most of the problems with these games didn't come until later levels or end game.

Next year seems to be having some good titles coming out, one that intrest me is SoE development of EQ next (currently thet tempory name SoE calling it) They seem to be taking old school MMO this case EQ1 and adding sandbox elements to it, they say there aiming for the largest sandbox type MMO to get released. So i am looking forward to see if they pull it off and hope they do. they says it will be playable at fanfair next year so im assuming it will be like beta or alpha ish at end of next year.

Which many people warned you within the first damn week!! Look at GW2. Again that's your fault. Critics gave you a warning. You chose to ignore those warnings. Can't blame anybody but yourself.

Yeah DF was good but didn't last awhile... before that the last good game was SWG and before that EQ. Of course I chose to play EQ over SWG since I already had years into it lol.... been a terrible few years now haha.

It won't be a ful blown sandbox game, so you might give up right now.
If it's not broken, you are not innovating.
