i read on the square-enix website about the 'worldpass' system and i get the concept but i dont understand it fully, do you have to get the pass from an NPC in game...and once u have the pass does your friend have to already have 1 char created?...is it possible to move a current char to the new 'worldpass' server that u have the code for?...or do u have to make a new char and pay an extra buck just to hang witcha friends?...... . . .. . .........(still cant belive its $12.75 such an unlucky number)

ok...so like this might get confusing..
heres me <M>server=X and thats my one char...no alts
heres my friend <F>server=Y and thats his/her one char...no alts
so does <F>server=Y have to make a new char...
and if yes can he/she delete <F>server=y and just use the new world-passed char? and do World Passes cost gil?

ok, for somereason my mind is making this over complex...lemme see here
ok so we both allready have one char made...to use the WP thing and get together the person who is moving has to receive the WP code?(how does that work) then type it in when making a >new< char and then that char will be created on the server that the world pass is for...now if you make the >new< char to do this can you delete your original char, and incurr no extra costs? i.e. char 1 go bye bye char 2 becomes char 1 will it still be an extra buck?

how much do the WP's cost? are they available in all starting towns...or all towns....how easily can you gather the amnt of gil?

Retarded, so what is stopping you from just creating this character on the other server to start with ?? Or is this in place because you are only allowed 1 character no matter which server??
Everyone is getting really confused about this, and its because your leaving out some assumed information that WE DONT KNOW LOL!!!
The only ways this would make sense would be if you can only create 1 character no matter which server your on unless you have a WP... Or else nothing would stop people but saying screw the gil and just starting a character on the other server!

OK, im going to repeat what i Understand so far, and i hope i got most of it correct.
Your character is randomly put on a chosen server, I do not know how many different servers their are.
It is possible that your "Freind" would have bought and signed up for FFXI and gets placed on the same server becuase the servers are random.
If my Freind didnt get randomly chosen on the same server as I am on, then we cannot play together. However if i Aquire a worldpass, i can get my freind to move to my server, but he has to Start a completly new character on the server im on.
The Parts i dont understand are, if i join my freind on his server from a Worldpass, do i have to pay $1.00 a month for the extra character?
Are all the characters i create on the same server?, so when i use a world pass, my old character is deleted, and any new character i create is $1.00 but will only stay on this server?
Also, How many people are aloud on a server?
Also, i wanted to say this, The Only Reason you would need to use a Worldpass, is mainly if you had plans to play with freinds you know on the Internet from chats, IMs, boards, or guilds...ect. It would be easier to plan a FFXI guild if all its members could play on the same server.
HOWEVER, if to many people move to the same server and it becomes to crowded, the Square Game masters, will do a "World Shifter" in which event they move your previous character to a different server with less people. They do not push you to a new server and make you start all over, right?
Wow...I'll make it simple as I know how.
You and your friend both make a charcter. He goes to server A, while you go to server B. You happen to buy a WP. You give your friend the code. He has to create a new character using the code that you gave him. If he doesn't want to pay the $1, then he has to delete his other character first.
