Looking through a burned CD I have of my old UO files I came across a classic post from 08/04/05, it was so classic that I decided to save it as an html file when I saw it...and it's still classic today, it was fun re-reading it 7 years later.
Zilor, whomever and wherever you are, thank you twice!

That was not a rebuke, mate, it's a rant, a very inarticulately phrased one. Frankly, I ceased reading after the second line and regret even that much.
Here's a snippet that should save everyone else from wasting their time on this drek. It also acts as a fine summation...
I agree with those sentiments. UO truly was destroyed by the idiots in charge.
However, why did you skip over the first sentence for the second, if you wanted a reason:
And the fourth:
When someone is angry, read between the lines.
He may be angry, but it's because he's right!
I read between those lines and I am going to go out on a limb here and say I doubt he is angry because he is "right". I am assuming this guy was one of the "wolves" and he hunted all the "sheep" and if they couldn't handle they should go cry...
I get that vibe from this joker, he ran out of people to gank because of changes made to the game and is now pissing the bed.
That Guild Wars 2 login screen knocked up my wife. Must be the second coming!
...Yeah. That pretty much sums up my feelings.
Really sad what happened to UO.
I have been pimping a game though that is similar to UO if you are still seeking your pre-tram fix.
Here is thread I made when I dicvered the game last week.

I am not trying to derail your thread at all- I have been searching for a game for so long and totally agree with the Post you shared. For a million reasons. I only mention this because I imagine your tastes are similar to mine (your feelings about the "industry" as well) and I think you may find this game a treat.
No. I think its far deeper than that.
I am one of those "sheep" who enjoys FFA type games for the danger. They could have done SO MUCH to fix the blatant griefing. Instead they killed the game.
He's right, that was just a straight rant. If you had a mind meld with him or something, it MIGHT be coherent. But, the translation to everything you quoted is thus:
"The stupid idiots ruined this game."
"They didn't know what they were doing, the morons messed up the game."
"What a bunch of jackasses, I hate how they jacked up this game."
If you agree with him emotionally, then maybe you would think it's alright. But what he wrote was anything but special...merely a inarticulate venting of impotent anger.
LOL- Thats because gaming is serious bizznezz =P
No. I understand. He may have spent YEARS developing his toon and the BANG the whole world changes (not just a few minor rules/additions)
I was there and remembewr the outcry. The fact is- Griefing and PKing was a huge problem..... But the answer was not to change the entire game.
EDIT: That would be like Wow suddenly saying "we are going semi 2D and offering FFA with permadeath"... God, that would be fun to read their forums after THAT announcment
Agreed.
Yes Griefing was a big problem for many players. The incremental changes were showing results. The skill loss upon death for red players drastically cut down on the number of PKs; I thought it was a great compromise. Think it was the Everquest envy that made EA castrate UO shortly thereafter.
So why dig out this 1 of millions old posts
God, this takes me back years...
