Doing a graphic novel based off a zombie apocolypse what era..

Instead of the future or the present, I wanted to do one in a past era, what would make a more unique and better era, American Civil war era or a medievel era?

I would think midieval. You'd have alot less work to 'sell' that characters beleive in zombies, as witchcraft and the undead were common topics during those periods, and less so during the civil war era.

IA with the previous comment for the medieval era. It's my initial choice as well. On the other hand, for the civil war era, what came to mind to wrap the zombie theme around it would be something sci-fi like war experiments gone wrong.
