Just to start of... I can't get enough of watching the ~15 min video. So many things that looks awesome and provides things to think about.
I'm one of the types that believe that for the most part - the fantasy style MMO/ActionRPG genre is a bit worn out. Most of the latest MMO's that has been released, does not (imo) provide enough originality compared to the big successes - and I believe thats a necessity to make a financially viable product in that genre.
Now, let's get to the Lineage Eternal demo-video.... what sets it apart.
1) Top-down view:
Now.. this is not completely original, and has been seen in several games. Some like it - some don't. One thing this view provides though, is the ability to fit more environment into the view, and as such gives the viewer a larger sense of the surroundings, and if utilized correctly can really provide the developers with a great tool to create an atmospheric feel. Watching the large scales siege battle makes you feel like you're thrown right into the large battles in LOTR movies.. I love it!
2) ActionRPG as a real MMO?
This is somewhat unusual as well. D3 is by no means an MMO, but a multiplayer action RPG. Lineage is actually what I could call an ActionRPG while still being an MMO. This should be interesting... especially if they are able to create guild-wise content that supports larger groups/parties... In particular... think of the siege battle - just from a PvP perspective... could be quite amazing IMO.
3) Game Control
Here we have something quite extraordinary... controls. Notice the motions needed to activate specials. I'm very very curiuous how this will impact the actual feel and playability, because I for one have not tried anything like it.. should be interesting to see how this actually works when playing.
These are some of the thoughts that I have when I review the limited information I can drag out of watching the video... What do you guys think?

It is going to be an MMORPG like Lineage 1, focused in mass world pvp/pk-clan war-sieges in a persistent world, but there will be some instances too.
Example of world pvp in Lineage 1:

Example of a raid in Lineage 1(Lindvior):

Cool cool.
One of the things that worries me is how crazy the grind potentially is.. I'm a casual gamer myself and only play 5-15 hours a week... I heard Lineage 2 was absolutely insane and the grind game above all.

Probably there will be grind like L1-L2, because the main market of Lineage is Asia, and there people play more hardcore, western market is just an appetizer for Lineage franchise, it doesn't represent even 10% of Lineage total market. Because of this NC will focus on eastern market pattern mainly.
I'm not so entirely sure. The aesthetics and design of the game seems to be catered towards the western market rather than the asian with next to no manga-like graphics...
Perhaps they actually are trying to create a world-wide market product like GW2.

Yes, they will release Eternal here as they did to L1/L2, but don't think that western market will be priority because it won't. Like other games from NC such as L1/L2/Aion, NC only listens to Asian players and they only take into account feedback from Asian players.
Eternal in west will only attract a small hardcore player base, a niche market, as we see in L2. For western market, NC has ANET that focuses on western tastes(rush to level cap plus instanced pvp-pve), ANET will release GW2 all over the world too, but they will only take into account western tastes/feedback.
It is in development and there won't be news until late 2013(probably at G-Star 2013 in november).
I'm torn between I hope you're right (That they'll release some more info there).. and god I hope you're wrong (That we don't have to wait until November to get news.... )
hehe

Yeah I've learned to never buy in on the ground floor of an NCsoft game when it's focus is the Asian market. It either dies or takes a few months/years to be fun to play. Either way it's always better to wait.
But do you actually think that will be the case with this game as well?
I mean.. from what I can see, it looks like a very straight forward action RPG.. How high can that learning curve really be?
I think you have to look at the gaming experience.. how fun is it from the start? What is your own personal succescriteria for enjoying a game. If end-game is all you care about, the actual game-experience / feel might be of little relevance. My own personal view on that is, that if there is a fun aspect in gaming it.. action and right on enjoyment.. the end-game can wait until I'm there.. as long as I have acceptable fun getting there.
So my point is... if it's fun from the beginning.. then the long grind to get to end-level might not be an issue or a problem.
