General chats are like that in every online game you go, this is a common behaviour in the internet, I blame it for the annonimity of the players and their age, but most importantly their annonimity.
People just let themselves "let loose" more when they are behind their screens, so you see all this trash talk, sexual subjects, name calling and general trolling, I'm 100% sure that if you meet those people in person, they would be the entire opposite person.
My best advice is, ignore the global chat, focus on the gameplay, join a a nice guild, people usually act a lot nicer in guilds, especially veteran players who got lots of friends in their guilds, I actually have a lot of fun in Tera both gameplay and community (not global).
generally yes but in my history of countless online games the ones that use characters with huge boobs and little clothing(which i don't mind at all) attract a lot more of this type of chatter in my experience.. in these games I always am forced to turn off map chat in the starter zones at least.. usually all MMOs zone chat is horrible on free beta weekends as well.. there have been a couple execptions though in my experience..
I angered the clerk in a clothing shop today. She asked me what size I was and I said actual, because I am not to scale. I like vending machines 'cause snacks are better when they fall. If I buy a candy bar at a store, oftentimes, I will drop it... so that it achieves its maximum flavor potential. --Mitch Hedberg

Id say 90% of the general chat centered around the sexualization of women in videogames start as a result of someone who has a bone to pick with it starting an argument or making some smug comment., which then inevitably leads to people trolling them by being as crass as humanly possible.
Tera's community is on par for any f2p title for anyone who isn't letting their bias color their perceptions.
Originally posted by Purutzil Welcome to the F2P comunity, full of idiots who clog the game up with stupid chat. Hopefully it gets better as the 'intelectually declined' leave off to harrass another game.
Huh? I've heard complaints about the community consistently since launch.
And generally those complaints are preceded or followed by some complaint about the sexualizatiom of the game. Most folks get their panties on a tiff about something and then they start scrutinizing everything.
Thats not just Tera or sexual armor in video games btw, that pretty much applies to everything. I catch myself doing it all the time.
