Fun with Boxes!

KumaponKumapon Member EpicPosts: 1,605

Over in Korea, the Korean players have discovered that you can create things using box crates bought from Merchant Island. Using these box creates is just like lego or blocks from Minecraft. Players are starting to create some amazing things using box crates.

Can't find land to build that house you always wanted? No problem use box crates to create that lovely house of yours.

Or use box crates to make a challenging maze!

Or you can create a jumping puzzle!

Players have just started creating, what will you create in ArcheAge ?

Love the goats.  Can you really raise livestock?

Cool pics btw.  The lighting looks so realistic, and building with crates looks fun.

Oh yes you can defenitly raise livestock in ArcheAge. Here is a chart of the types of animals that are available.

Is it true that every farmed / livestock type harvest follows 3 simple steps? (plant > water > harvest for plants or place in a spot > feed > milk / butcher for animals?)

From what I've heard, Archeage is a small watered down MMO + Basic watered down farmville + limited pvp / housing / ships.

It's all good to have options, but its pretty lame if they are over simplistic and without any real variance.

Yes the game is very limited.

The World size is extremely limited

    Western Continent

    Eastern Continent

    Merchant Island

    Pirate Island

Massive Oceans with 1000's of islands inbetween

    Under the Ocean to explore

Third northern Continent is the biggest of them all.

Very watered down and limited features...

Player Housing (This entire town is player made)

    Castle Building

    Farming

    Mount Raising

    Pet Breeding

    Criminal System

    Dynamic Rift Events

    World Bosses

    Ferre Porn

    Very limiting PVP.....

    Castle Seige

    Castle Seige Part2

    Pirateing on the Ocean

    World PVP

    World PVP Part 2

I could go on and on about this very simplistic and limited game, but I don't want to bore you. Maybe you should check out WOW , I hear that is a very complicated game.

No need to get all butthurt, I'm just saying that it doesn't matter how many "features" they have if those "features" are simplistic and limited.  I'm asking to get a better idea if I've wasted my time keeping an eye on this game for the last few years.

What can you do on the islands? Can you build houses? Are they generic plots for castlebuilding?

What can you do with the animals / Plants you grow? Can you craft with the harvests or just sell them?

Is the crafting simply mashing 2 generic items together or an involved process (Not talking about house/ship building)

Can you update and upgrade housing / castles or are they all the same?

I like the box building, but will they get nerfed since it seems like an unintended feature and I've heard you can only build housing in very small selected areas?

Can you find your own little corner of the world hidden away and settle it on your own? (Even if you have to run away when it is attacked then come back to rebuild after the attackers leave)

    Kumapon.., too funny !!!

LMAO 'over simplified' game......Totally agree with you Kuma, these 'players' hear certain things from god knows where, then start spitting out the same thing over and over without checking it out for themselves.

This game has so many different things going for it, im amazed that someone like the above poster could even begin to think this game is limited and shallow. Where the fuck does that even come from? Probably game devs trying to shoot this game down before launch because they know its going to blow their game out of the water.

Thanks for the info, that really interesting....

Funny how that works isn't it?  Hsppens all the time in other forums.

Sandbox means open world, non-linear gaming PERIOD!

Subscription Gaming, especially MMO gaming is a Cash grab bigger then the most P2W cash shop!

Bring Back Exploration and lengthy progression times. RPG's have always been about the Journey not the destination!!!

Some have housing plot(s), some just more land to farm/plant. Pirates homebase.  Castles are only on the Northern continent.

What can you do with the animals / Plants you grow? Can you craft with the harvests or just sell them?

While there is some limited resource nodes in the wild, the majority of what you Craft with will be things either you or someone else raised. Trees just for Wood, Fruit trees for fruit and less wood if you chop them down, Cows for milk or slaughter them for meat and leather. Coral reefs and Seaweed in underwater farms...

Is the crafting simply mashing 2 generic items together or an involved process (Not talking about house/ship building)

Not the most complex crafting ever, but most everything is done as an upgrade process.  Metal > Sword1 , Sword1+Metal&Wood > Sword2, ... Sword6+Metal&Wood&MobDrop > Swrod7.  There are also 7 grades of item quality, determined by quality of base component, random upgrades in quality based on skill.

Labor point system limiting how much can be done in any certain time period. Gather or Craft

Can you update and upgrade housing / castles or are they all the same?

Houses have several different floorplans, single room cottage to multi level guildhall. Castles are bought as wall segments and assembled in the design of your choice. Only limiter is there is a maximum distance from your Claim point. (was 100m in CBT4, might have changed)

I like the box building, but will they get nerfed since it seems like an unintended feature and I've heard you can only build housing in very small selected areas?

Jake Song has stated they are planning on adding more housing areas to the Southern continents, on the Northern houses can be placed in a radius around the Claim point (again 250m in CBT4)

Can you find your own little corner of the world hidden away and settle it on your own? (Even if you have to run away when it is attacked then come back to rebuild after the attackers leave)

Yes. For instance there is one tiny island, basically just enough room for a single house. Or find some secluded mountain valley/plateau to place crops/herds. There is supposed to be off the road housing areas that have yet to be discovered.

This is pretty awesome, but i wonder how long they last and at what point will there be so many junk structures that they have to nerf it some how.

When i saw the first forest planted by someone i wondered the same thing...

It's funny how little things like boxes that the devs probably never intended to do much turned into a form of player art.

“There are certain queer times and occasions in this strange mixed affair we call life when a man takes this whole universe for a vast practical joke, though the wit thereof he but dimly discerns, and more than suspects that the joke is at nobody's expense but his own.”
