Hi guys,
I haven't tried BSG Online yet, but I have been considering it. I really love shows like BSG and firefly that show space the way it really is: Cold, quiet, dark. Ok, so they aren't -that- realistic... But I do like the physics of BSG, it makes for really interesting space combat that you just don't see in other movies or television.
I liked it so much that I made a minimalist online multiplayer game with space physics:
I am wondering if something like this is what I can expect in BSG and ya'lls thoughts and feelings on space physics and why the heck we don't see more of it.

"Energy weapons" that don't have appreciable transit time and limited range? Inertia, no "brakes"? Orbital systems where you're the only physical object within a cubic parsec? Landings that resemble Lunar Lander more than Star Wars? Kinetic energy weapons that take months to arrive at target? Kepler? Constant-acceleration drives, or limited by fuel?
Ok. Sounds a little 'slow' for typical Shooter fare, though. Better include a very large gravity well for slingshots (several of them?). And access to good reading libraries for the players.
Ah, I see from the splash page that you've already been making Shooter compromises to "realistic" physics. Carry on then.
Self-pity imprisons us in the walls of our own self-absorption. The whole world shrinks down to the size of our problem, and the more we dwell on it, the smaller we are and the larger the problem seems to grow.
