Nope, I was implying that the points he is using for defense are actually points I would use against the NGE.
However I think I came across abit harsh to ya with it Sidebuster, nothing personal. I am sorry if I offended you, I took it alittle personal when you started saying people were just stubborn about not wanting to give it another try.
So if I say that I think the game is more fun now than before the NGE. How does that make your points stronger?

You said that all should stop defending the NGE. I asked why should I do that?
Thx. I'm not paying for it though. Using the 10 day trail. The game pre CU and after CU sucked so badly that I'm never going to pay for it. Because of the NGE it doesn't suck that much anymore so I got a game to play for 10 days.

How can you tell when it's a SOE employee, simple, they quote directly from SOE publications! Not to mention they left no gap, no true opinion expressed. It's like a sales pitch from a greasy haired used car salesman.
My personal favorite is regarding the Jedi. Sorry, the Jedi are complaining cuz they had to work for a long time to get it, as for the rest. Just those complaining cuz in the Star Wars environment, at this timeline is non-existent! Yes there were "force-sensitive", but no trained Jedi outside of Obi-Wan and Yoda, and they were both in exile, well hidden from Palpatine and Vadar.
But now they can attempt to suck more money out of people by trying to push "new strategy" guides at your local game centers. Seems the old ones aren't worth much.

The strategy guides are done by Prima, not SOE. And most MMORPG strategy guides become worthless over time. There's been no less than four different City of Heroes guides - they now come in binders so you can just buy strategy guide expansions.
I realize you were just being facetious, but there's better ways to be a smart ass than to look like a dumb ass.

Exactly, in my opinion it just isnt right to completely overhaul the game mechanics like this in an ongoing game. I personally devoted nearly three years of my life to the game as it was. Its not a matter of being afraid of change, but in these cases the changes should be more incremental than sweeping. If they were determined to do these things, as they clearly were, they should have made a new game. Clear and simple, I paid for one game and they turned it into another and this goes way beyond the disclaimer that "gameplay may change over time". This wasnt change this was a complete destruction of the game and insertion of a new kids version of the game.

If i am being honest, i dont know why many of you are complaining so much about the game. What is wrong with it i ask? i think that even after the change it is still a great mmorpg, i mean u can fly in space and shoot things, not many other rpgs allow this oh and the 9 profession thing isnt all bad, i mean the only really point in having so many different professions was for individuality, which yes you do definately need in an mmorpg but cmon! the 9 professions that are left are still great ones to have. So i hope that swg manages to hang on it has the potential for a gr8 game, SOE just needs to get it right.

Some people play games to accumulate. Whether it be wealth, power, prestige, stuff, or whatever, they enjoy a game only so long as they are gaining something. When a big change hits, positive or negative, that stuff that they've accumulated's value changes, and if it goes down in any way (even moderately), it is a bad thing. Sometimes "nerfs", as they are called, are required for balance lest the system run into an out of control buff spiral (buffed Jedi, now have to buff Bounty Hunter, oh no, Jedi need to be buffed now). That's okay with them, but the loss of something they distinctly believe to be theirs, even if it is something as stupid as a pistol, is a travesty that cuts through to their very self image. It cuts deep and they just can't move on. It's really quite sad.

Flying in space is cool, but the lack of the 'land' game concerns me. And I say lack because it is greatly decreased. No decay on everything for crafters, lack of efficent buffs for the entainers to hand out basicaly removes their reason to be there. Sure you can build ships and buildings, but since those don't decay it will only be a matter of time until those are gone as options as well. Meanwhle the interface really leaves much to be desired. I rather liked the old F# key system. It worked out well, a lot better then selecting the special move and then right clicking to make it work. The problem with combat was never with the interface, just ballance. And the NGE turns the ballance upside down suddenly the commando is king and the Jedi is a common class that gets killed in combat very easly. I tried both of them on the demo and the Commando can shoot his way out of everything while the Jedi is doomed to fighting everything at close range while everyone else shoots him or her. Utlimatly there are more problems then this, but since I just played the demo and then deleted it 24 hours later I could not go into depth about them at this time. Maybe in a few months when everything settles down I'll try again. And that means after they balance out the NGE, and after the servers get stablized (IE Rumors of Consolidation and Japanize servers shut down). Meanwhile I'll keep on reading the boards, checking out the news on it, but from what I have seen the NGE may not be the saving grace that many people thought it would be. <End of Late Night Rant>

Well this may be true for some people but I wouldn't say it was the majority. I had so much time and energy invested in this game. I had a profession that I worked hard to attain and was proud of my accomplishment. I had weapons and resources that I had also worked to acquire. I had helped build a community, a cyber town with real people behind the avatars. People I cared about. But the thing that bound us all together was the love of Star Wars and the complexity of SWG. It may not have been a game for casual players or those with short attention spans. Maybe that is why it wasn't as successful as it could have been. IMO it was like chess is to checkers. Is checkers fun? Sure. Is chess more challenging? You bet.
SWG in it's orginal form had so much potential. Even after the CU the dream of what it could be was still there. With the NGE that dream is officially dead. It is now ordinary and mainstream. The only thing that makes it different is that it's Star Wars. Had they just fixed the original it could have been amazing. But they decided to use a band aid (CU) instead and the patient died. Now we have franken-SWG (NGE). The scope and depth is now gone. Were people bitching pre-CU, post-CU and post-NGE? Sure. Did they represent the feelings of most players? No. Could the game be better? Of course. Did most veterans feel the CU was the wrong solution? Yes. Did many go along with it? Yes. Whether you like the NGE or not it isn't the vision that was SWG. If you like the NGE then game on more power to you. But I for one can't get the love back after all that has happened. The lies, broken promises and the killing of the dream. Was SWG struggling? Yes. Could it have been prevented if they would have listened to their community? Possibly. This leads to the crux of why I believe many veterans are so disgusted. They love the game and many feel that if our ideas had been heeded things might have been different. Now we'll never know. /shrug /sigh

Well said, it is as if they have coded away the very soul of the game. If they were determined to put out an online arcade game, they should have made it an entirely seperate game.

The new game seams to be geared to six year olds, maybe thats where soe thinks the money is, and that might explain the post being poorly written.

"Some people play games to accumulate. It's really quite sad."

Well you got my attention with the first 3 words and then lost it with the rest of the rubbish you wrote.
SOE = NGE = Death of SWG
Simple as, nuff said.

The new game seams to be geared to six year olds, maybe thats where soe thinks the money is, and that might explain the post being poorly written.
