I like how you guys just insult me with the power of fanboism but don't have any refutals for my argument. The fact is, almost every developer of an old successful MMO that tried to make a comeback fell flat on their face.
Mark already did with Warhammer and yet you still campaign for a blind money throwing contest?? And I dedicated an entire post to how bad WoW is so not sure where you're going with that.
Please see my post about warhammer. Mark was an officer of a public company at that point. Other than being on camera for some of the videos he may not even have known what was going on. It sounds like Hickman ran a snowjob.
If my post wasn't enough and If you'd like a private conversation about some of the ways I think WAR went wrong(that have nothing to do with anyone specific, for the most part), feel free to PM me. Otherwise, take a hike.
So your argument is "I think he didn't have much to do with the game?" i was in Warhammer beta and i can tell you firsthand Mark Jacobs was very involved with WAR, usually on a daily basis. Don't let wishful thinking fool you, Warhammer was a fully Mark Jacobs game and it was bad.......very bad. But feel free to buy a car before you testdrive it. Works out well in real life.
So, if you have no interest in this game or have any stake in this game failing, why are you still here? Rest of the backers here earned their money and this game is what we are looking for and will invest in what we believe in, and nothing you say is going to change anything.
Originally posted by jbgunz So let me get this straight....you people are dropping money into a game you know nothing about.....wasint this "Millionaire" on warhammer as well? yikes
Yep, that pretty much sums it up! Least someone around here gets it *GRINS*
lol Except Warhammer didnt show the vision he wanted. Thats what happens when you rely to much on investors for games like these (RvR games are high risk type games for Investors to back).
Funny, DAoC was done by Mark Jacobs and a dozen devs with 2.5mil in under 18 months. This game has so much more potential given that it wont be focusing on PvE, will have over 2x the money put into it with his true vision in mind.
I worked for it, I earned it, it's my money and I'll do whatever the hell I feel like doing with it. Now I'm going to go have lunch and stop feeding the trolls.

Warhammer was most likely ruined by the people that controlled the cash, not the actual game developers.
CU is intentionally avoiding that funding model to retain creative control.
Originally posted by Otakun I wonder how people will feel about wasting their money 2 years down the road? I guess it wont suck as bad to know then.
thats how i feel to...i somehow dont see the vision nor do i trust the minds behind the game...and the timeline is just to far off...i dont loose anything by buying the finished products in 2-3 years for 50 bucks...the additional 20-25 are long depreciated by then...they have absolutly nothing to show for and i allready got burned with dark falls 2

You obviously have no idea how a corporate environment works. He was a point man, but not the actual decision-maker. Also, he only had as much knowledge as people within the organization conveyed to him. If they provided false, incomplete, or mistaken knowledge to him, what else does does he have to go on?
Once you're out working in the world awhile, especially if you ever get into corporate management, you'll understand.
In one of the reply's MJ said they will be creating their own engine from scratch. Interesting.
"As of now we are going to build the engine from scratch. We love some of the off the shelf engines out there but our focus has got to be on an engine that can handle the load of ton of players even if it means it isn't as pretty. Rendering speed trumps all in our case."
I agree with you but dude you know nothing about this game what so ever. Reality check pls.I can pretty much tell you anything to about whats gonna be in my game..are you gonna pledge to? Seriously its your people money but what if this imaginary game turns out to be a big pile of doodo? then what?

Never spend money you can't do without.
What does it matter, if you hold true to that axiom?

That's the risk. The reward is getting a game you have invested in. If people think the risk is worth the reward then that should be just fine with you. Most likely better odds than the casino!
Before you invest answer me this mister investor.....have you seen anyting related to the product. Hey dont get me wrong I could careless what you do with your money. This is like watchin people at the casino pissin their money up a tree. This is great entertainment though. Keep it comin!!

They have faith in this game and developer. You can't argue or reason with faith. Faith does not have to follow any sort of logic. I say if people want to throw money at CU KS good for them. Everyone involved knows the risks they are taking. As long as this community doesn't get as obnoxious as the GW2 community did I can not see a reason for anyone not to support them.
Good luck Mark, and the CSE team. Been following this game here reddit and Facebook since the first mention, and figured it was time to come out of the shadows.
See you guys in alpha.. I will be more vocal in the Official founder's forum.

You're just slightly more than half my age, Sonny.

Then don't.
Why do people feel the need to post when they're not interested in things, that have no impact on them? Who are they trying to convince, and why?
