I know the PC UI is something that a lot of people don't like. Though more realistically they'll work on story and other content since it ties into the show, and it's work that the console versions will benefit from.
Due to frequent travel in my youth, English isn't something I consider my primary language (and thus I obtained quirky ways of writing). German and French were always easier for me despite my family being U.S. citizens for over a century. Spanish I learned as a requirement in school, Japanese and Korean I acquired for my youthful desire of anime and gaming (and also work now). I only debate in English to help me work with it (and limit things). In addition, I'm not smart enough to remain fluent in everything and typically need exposure to get in the groove of things again if I haven't heard it in a while. If you understand Mandarin, I know a little, but it has actually been a challenge and could use some help.
Also, I thoroughly enjoy debates and have accounts on over a dozen sites for this. If you wish to engage in such, please put effort in a post and provide sources -- I will then do the same with what I already wrote (if I didn't) as well as with my responses to your own. Expanding my information on a subject makes my stance either change or strengthen the next time I speak of it or write a thesis. Allow me to thank you sincerely for your time.

I think they are pretty much there, ready for release.
all of the options in the poll are reasonable (except for spectral mounts which i dont see how it fits with a postapocalyptic world), specially the chat malfunctioning that discourage people to talk to others need to be changed.
-I personally want more customization. Split outfits into separate pieces (gloves, boots, pants, etc) and be able to dye each piece.
-Add more variety of side missions (more modes besides time trial and the others). The game needs Guild Bases (outposts) that can be invaded by dynamic npc invasions and who knows, even a pvp mode based on guild outposts take over (fighting for resources sort of pvp).
-More variety of mounts (trucks that can carry your entire group?), what kind of truck doesnt fit 5 people..... seriously. Be able to upgrade mounts like you could do in the game RAGE (Add more durable tires, upgrade engine, add guns, change guns for rocket launchers, etc). Paint your cars and add some designs.
-Be able to interact with more environmental objects. See a raider camp on the road? how about some granade launchers and blow up their cars, or steal them for a short while. Even better, how about your runaway on your mount and they get in their cars and chase you while shooting at you?
-Friendly NPC reaction when you shoot them like they do in Left 4 Dead.
A side note: i remember the map wide invasions in RIFT, the group of NPCs running through the whole map attacking outposts and killing all npc. THAT would make a lot more sense in Defiance (raiding outposts for resources). It would be a hell of a lot fun as a shooter to go about preventing these dynamic invasions from raiders, hellbugs, 99ers, etc, in the different outspots.

Agree with all the above: Spectral mounts was joke btw.
Hard to vote here because there are so many issues that are equally important but for me two top things are PC UI + Chat. Although i am quite certain PC UI will never change.

Strangely I found the UI even more irritating with my xbox controller so unplugged it and went back to kb/mouse. But chat is my major issue, it is anti-social.
It takes some getting used to, but the UI isn't that bad for me really. I think I got it memorized now. I can hit spacebar and get things done in about 5 seconds /brag lol. Of course I played all last week only stopping to sleep/eat/poo. If I have one complaint it's balance. Some weapons are alot better than others in different situations. Rocket Launchers in PvP are still too strong, and the stupid bug egg gun is annoying to no end lol. I like my big machine gun, but controlling it is a pain in the behind. I do like 5 round bursts in most occasions unless I'm getting swarmed, then it's spray and pray time lol. All other guns seem to be easy to control and have like almost no recoil. Even semi-auto sniper rifles are easier to control. Take a .50 Barret and shoot all the rounds without aiming, you'll be shooting all over America, and never hit your target. Take a M249 and do the same, you'll hit your target at least 50% of the time hehe. In game it's like total opposite though.

I am addicted to my assault rifle, particularly with the +10% melee. It just does everything, ranged, up close spray in the face (that sounded dodgy). Can't get enough of it.

That's what I use for my back up when I'm low on ammo with my machine gun. I like machine guns cuz of the huge clip capacity.
I chose Chat, mostly because Trion is already releasing a patch that squashes a lot of the basic bugs.
The UI is fine, I'm not sure why people claim it needs fixed? If they made the basic UI you would scream they copied WoW or some other BS.
The UI took me maybe a day to get used to where everything is. One person keeps talking about how it takes 5 clicks to get anywhere in the UI.
Here is the secret...I = Inventory, L = loadouts, K = EGO perks. Thos are the three I find myself in the most, I'm sure there are shortcuts for most of where you need to go.
After a week of playing the game I flip through the UI to find what I need with very little issues.
The modding menu does need some work, as someone said, the option to break items down for resources in batches would be nice,
It takes like 93 operations to scrap an item, ( turn it into arkfall junk, currency used for keycodes and modding ).
I just want to scream at the screen, and sometimes I do!
And I do events mainly, and all side missions, not so much into main story, I get a LOT of crap.
Inventory is part of this, I hate it with a passion, add to this items that can not be deleted or scrapped!
Give us a BANK!
That would solve a lot of my problems.
Still, kind of enjoying it, for some reason.
I just can not stop to imagine what this could have been had it been done right.
I understand that progression is VERY slow and the curve is shallow, you gain very little power very slowly.
And that is OK in a game like this.
Just wish they had upped the differences in weapons a little bit, let all stats differ by say 10%, excluding weapon levels and inherent mods.
That would make the search for the ultimate weapon a lot more interesting, even though it would only be slightly better then base, we need that incentive!
Not to mention it would give a HUGE boost to trading, and in that add a sliver of social interaction to this thing.
Say:
Dmg: 100-110
Reload: 1.8-2
Clip 20-22
Add in bloom, recoil, aim, fallof and the permutations are huge.
Still giving a "all stats perfect" VS an "all stats sucks" weapon only a 10-20% difference.
And in reality, as late game none would use ultimate crap, and none could get their hands on a perfect one, only giving you a couple of percent in boost.

What i suspected. People care more about the UI not being different than the game getting more content and substance.
I voted on better side mission diversity, since thats the bulk of the content. Improving that will improve gameplay.
The UI..you get use to it, it could be improved with inventory sorting tabs. Anyone with working brain will learn the UI in about 15min of tiral and error. Once you get use to it...its not a huge deal.
Redoing the UI would take a lot of development resources, and i think those resources would be far better spent making the actual game better with more and diverse content.
Oh and i do realize the UI complaints are about 70% "its not like a mmorpg" type of complaints, which kinda bother me.

It's about finding the right guns, and the right mods....
There are some that have some outstanding stats...
I have yet to find an Orange tiered weapon myself, and I am typically in the top 5 in damage delt in arkfalls. Until last night I was typically First or second, but last night I was usually around third or fourth.

Yeah, there are a lot of weapon options currently. Find it slightly irritating having to swap my favourite weapon when it reaches max xp.

One of the fun things about the game, is that you don't have to switch to another gun. Will you gain Ego points faster if you do? Sure? Will it effect game play not really.

I have no problem navigating the UI. I don't get the fuss over it.
However, chat ...
I use teamspeak but it is nice to be able to chat to others who are not in TS.

More sandbox game play and territory control and guilds fighting other guilds. ie Darkfall with guns.
Yeah, guild bases and GvG would be cool.
