anyone know how long the game is down for?

it has been about an hour so far!

    Yeah, It's annoying when you haven't played for a week and decide to log in, and nothing happens.  ><

    It probably has something to do with the free weekend event. Not sure how long it'll be down. Official forums and several other sections of the main site at www.guildwars2.com are also down.

    It was posted on the forums before the downtime that servers would go down midnight pacific time for about 2 hrs.  That of course is all subject to change if problems arise.

    I've reached lvl 80 four times now and the games is still up and allowing me to play more.

    Yeah, I reached lvl 80, seven times (working on number eight) and can still play!

    Well even now you state that the downtime is such a rare occurence, why wouldn't there be some questions asked, especially if this the first time a player may have ever experienced such an event.

    if you are a WOW generation player and need that carrot dangling in front of you, yes.
