What will you play until CU?

TuktzTuktz Member Posts: 299

Let's be honest, even the alpha/beta is a year or more (possibly 2) away.

What do you think you'll play in the meantime, to bide your time?

I beat starcraft 2 zerg expac in like a week, then lost interest lol.

Right now for me - Eve online - only game that even comes close to holding my interest anymore

Near term - TESO - at least they're trying to do something different than the STANDARD themepark mmo by adding a three realm RVR theme to the pvp.

I'll check out Wildstar and TESO in beta. If I like them a lot, I might buy them.

I've actually been tempted just to resubscribe to DAOC. EA really screwed up by taking the Come Back to Camelot campaign down right around the time CU was being announced. I bet they would have made some good money from people wanting to relive past DAOC glory if they could just see how the game is now for free for a week or two first. (No I'm not going to play on one of those other DAOC servers because I don't want to level from scratch on hard mode and their number of players is too low to support any kind of quality RvR.)

    DAOC Live (inactive): R11 Cleric R11 Druid R11 Minstrel R9 Eldritch R6 Sorc R6 Scout R6 Healer

I'll be eyeballing TESO, but Darkfall - Unholy Wars has caught my attention, I'll probably pick it up today to check it out.

This, with some smite on the side.

I loved the first Darkfall, but the imbalances left me frustrated more often than not.

Unholy Wars though, has proven to be FANTASTIC (despite the removal of quests). It'll probably keep me busy, that and Planetside 2. And Vanguard.

Not much out there nowadays that looks even semi decent tbh. Although I have my eye on Dragons Prophet , Neverwinter and Archeage. I hope one those will keep my attention.

In the mean time I guess its a mix of TSW/Smite/LOL and some playstation rpg classics. I am however really looking forward to the PS4. I hope they bust out some new RPG's.

  • Currently playing XCOM,  FTL and StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty. Got StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm lying ready, too. Space Hulk coming out this fall and Might & Magic 10 is on the horizon, looking very promising.

    I'm playing Darkfall : UW.

Good practice, I think, for getting acclimatized to the dangerousness of open pvp.  By the time CU comes out, it won't be a shock to get killed whilst minding my own business :)

Also, the similarities with no pve questing, player made economy, politics, land grabs. It's the nearest game to CU I think we've got at the moment.

Why DAoC of course.  Once in a blue moon, RIFT.

Excited to try Archeage, ESO.. Shroud of the Avatar when it comes out..

    Probably nothing too extensively, really.

I picked up DF:Unholy Wars for that very reason Ellya - it seemed the closest thing to CU that was around today and the concept is awesome. But the chat... my God... the chat.... it made the typical mmorpg.com troll look intelligent and thoughtful. That and I'm having an interesting time getting used to the UI (I never played Darkfall previously).

Yep, I'm having an ongoing challenge with the UI.  :)

And yes, the chat is... interesting!

But look see.. the prowess system is inspired! I can see that doing very nicely in CU, can't you?

I don't think you are allowed to, actually. Unsure of mmorpg.com's official policy, though.

Thinking of ArcheAge and Darkfall: UW myself.

Can't say there is any MMO that have catched my interest to play so think i might play Arma3 and PoE for about 6-7 months or so until IT opens up in January.

Will also play Grand Theft Auto V like a mad man once it's released on PC!

Primary game is LotRO, but I struggle a bit with finding the drive to log on lately.

Tried GW2 over Easter, but lost interest quickly. Got a lifetime subscription to TSW, but doesn't have time to log on as often as I'd like to.

Games on the horizon that might catch my interest is Neverwinter and CU, and Neverwinter is the dark horse in that race.

Had been playing TERA but taking a break maybe permanent as I've lost the urge to login and play.

Keeping an eye on Archeage.. but idk.

    ><

atm gw2, though its wvw is shit due to no collision detection (blob trains).

ill buy neverwinter cause i love the idea of a dungeon maker.

and ill surely check out TESO, though it doesnt seem all that great compared to it's cost and brand name.

Ps2, its the best modern game at rvr, way more strategy involved than gw2, aion and war. Though still lacking compared to ps1, shadowbane and daoc.

No you do cd like planetside, war and Aoc.

    So enemy models are stone
Friendly models are mud, push against them you pass through.

But you cant stand inside a friend or enemy (water)

It's not the reason WvW isn't that good though,

1 no names, the killer of it for me
    2 swaps every 2 weeks
    3 stupid downed state
    4 rez spam
