However, they are going for large-scale PVP While maintaining at least 30FPS. THey don't want GW2's pop in and pop out, which makes you getting killed from a character you never saw.

I like games with graphics somewhere around the year of 2013... not 2001
are they not planning on improving those models or is that the final.
That's first pass. This game is just barely starting development. They have 2+ years to perfect them.
cool. i like the concept of the game... i just cant get into games that look horrible.. cheap graphics will surely kill my buzz.
Not trolling just wanted an answer about future goals of the graphics or if they were planning on remaining the same.
Think of these as proto-type models. One thing, though, to remember, is that this game is pushing for playability in large battles, over "glitz". If it comes down to making pores show up on models or getting the frame rate up 10fps... they'll go with the FPS.
I'd describe it as somewhere between DAOC and WOW -- like a slightly cartoonish version of DAOC. It's not going to win any awards for state of the art visual when it comes out in 2015. But if everything goes well, it should look decently enough and play great. It won't be an epic fail due to graphics engine like SWTOR Ilum or GW 2 WvW.

As someone who is super hyped over this game, I will try and give you my honest answer. They have stated that this game will not be the prettiest game out there at release (late 2015). There is a good reason for it though. Unlike every other MMO that has PvP tacked on, this is a PvP game where massive battles (and small battles) constantly happen. The battles are meant to support 500 players in one small area. They have stated that they will sacrifice whatever they need in order to have a fluid, responsive combat with that many people in one area. Will the graphics be better than WoW? Of course. Will they be better than GW2? I am not sure, to be honest. If those graphics cause the PvP to not be fun, then the answer is no.
I think this video will give you an idea of what the character model skins will look like, but not the physics/movement/terrain (none of this is created yet): http://www.twitch.tv/citystategames/c/2195418. This really only gives us an idea of the direction of the art, but not really the overall "graphics" of the game.

The demo models are already way WAY superior than either of those games. Let's not try fool ourselves thinking this game will be a top end graphics mmo built on todays modern engines designed for small scale mmo engagements (themepark engines which is the reason they are so highly instanced. The engines they use are also used for many other single to small multi-player games). It will look modern enough for what it sets out to do.
Will it look like superior to Wow? Hell yes and by a long shot. The specs detailed for models already are vastly superior to Wow's and is being developed using DX11.
The models they currently have are more detailed than what you can really tell on the livestreams they have shown.
They are only streaming at 480p, that cuts down the quality a lot.
In the video of the st'rm model in 3ds max you can kinda tell how detailed they are, but not as much as you could in a 1080p stream.
Basicly World of Warcraft characters models are 2000 polygons. CU models are 12,000 polygons. Thats a huge upgrade. Its not going to be as detailed as a crytek 30k polygon model, but we're also shooting for high fps gameplay here.
12k polygons running at 400 fps is awesome. 6x better detailed models than wow running at 4x the framerate if that tells you anything at all.
This is the actual link, the other person was trying to get you to.
The animated walk cycle of the "St'rm"prototype model begins at about 6:05 in the video located at this link - obviously, just a bare starting point, but it's a very interesting character concept, with a lot of nice detail in the walk cycle even at this early date.
(Posted the time because most of the rest of the video is Mark Jacobs talking, and I don't think any of the graphics are going to resemble Mark Jacobs talking, lol.)
Also, Mark Jacobs has specifically said that the game "will not be cartoony." I realize that is a very general comment, but he was very clear about it. This is a great relief to me personally, as cartoony games tend to make my eyes bug out of my head after I have stared at the monitor for a not-very-long time. (Especially if the theme color of the zone is bright orange, for example - pfft.)
So far I am intrigued and encouraged by the concept art and the character modeling I have seen from this project.

Andrew / MJ also said it'll feature DX11.

Sorry, I thought from your topic/question, that you were someone in the graphical arts/modelling profession.
1000 characters on the screen at once, at 30 frames per second. (No graphical lag)
The character models will be made up of 12,000 triangles, which is approximately about the density of WoW, I believe, but not cartoony, like WoW.
Proto-alpha gameplay demo : http://www.twitch.tv/citystategames/c/2195418 which shows two of the base models they've made so far.
[mod edit]. These models are high polygon models created in ZBrush, not anywhere close to models created in 2001.
Game Created in 2001
