Your time period to play early is over as this is the general release, so that complaint is pretty invalid.
Well seeing as how I requested mon-wed of work off, yeah thats time I set aside specifically to play this game. And seeing as how today is LAUNCH day I thought I would be doing nothing but playing. Oh wait.
Seriously? If you haven t learned from other lauch days, you have no one to blame but yourself.
Yes. Seriously. And you guys are totally right... I dropped $200 to play a game that currently isn't working as soon as it "launches" I have no valid argument...right. And my name is Santa Claus. Fuckin noobs
Well considering I knew this would happen, I think we can see who the noob is.
Oh yes, all knowing soki how could you have not known this? Yes of course you know this...you know everything
You took time from work off to play an MMO early before the beta, got to do it, and are now complaining about the release that is standard for release days of every other MMO?
You not only brought this on yourself, but I hope your boss scolds you for taking time off from work for such a trivial matter.

Beta? Marketing spin. They have a working cash shop which is open for business and taking in revenue. It's launched, period. It's the same as a subscription game charging $15 a month for Beta, which you'd never sit still for. I already said it once but I'll say it again:
Once a game's business model kicks in and starts to generate revenue, that game is launched. It doesn't matter what the business model is.
But I agree it does show an interest in the game, that's the one positive thing to be taken from this.
^^ This. The "it's beta" excuse is old, weak, and lame. Once you start taking money, it ain't beta. Beta used to imply "free" because why would you pay for an unfinished or trial product (the players got something by getting a free or early taste and the company got to test server load and such things before launch, so it was a win-win), but somewhere along the line, this idea of "paid beta" was sold to players. Which is complete BS: they whole and entire point of testing is to prevent problems like these, not use it as a marketing tool and make some $$$. Typical Cryptic here.
ROFLMAO come on people you havent learned the golden rule yet. ALL MMOs have launch issue you have to give at LEAST a moneth lee way for them to dort out all the unexpected issues and bugs before you can honestly give them shit, now after that the flood gates are open.
now after saying that i do have to say that the fact that its affecting other games, is not acceptable at all.
in the end im not to suprised after the lanch day patch of champions ill never be shocked by anything cryptics dose.
eh oh well i wasnt planning on trying this game out for a few weeks anyway to let the lowbie zone not be flooded anymore and then bugs to be worked out, oh and wait to see what kinda shit is pulled right after lanch
Back in the day Cryptic's first MMO, City of Heroes, actually had a comparatively smoother launch than Neverwinter so far.
And that's back when MMO launches would crash more than a teen that's driving while simultaneously putting on makeup, texting friends, and seat dancing to some Taylor Swift song in an SUV with 4 bent wheels and no brakes.

true but your forgetting a few things, mainly that the group that is made up of cryptic now is not the same people that it was made up of back then, diffrent company, diffrent people.
to many things have changed but then agian, my fanboy is showing so i guess im a bit bias on this.
also to be fair alot of it ws due to NCsoft, as much as i dislike them.
F2P may be the way of the future, but ya know they dont make them like they used to Proper Grammer & spelling are extra, corrections will be LOL at.

One big applause for this guy.

Frankly, that is even more silly: you are paying for the hope that a game will eventually release. KS for MMOs is inherently a bad idea, based on the money requirements to make something decent and chances that the game will actually be good anyway. But you know what they say about fools and their money...
Well I'm finally in but the game seems to have lots of issues still. Been getting lots of lagg, rubberbanding, and animations not triggering right or at all. Hopefully they will get it all sorted soon. Guess I'll go play some gw2 and let this one cook a bit more...

I wouldn't say it's really Cryptic's fault, it's simply standard procedure because getting a lot of server blades for a smooth launch when you have the highest numbers of players wouldn't be cost effective in the long run because population tends to normalize after a while. While server maintenance costs are generally negligible in this day and age, hardware infrastructure cost itself is very much real.
Civilized men are more discourteous than savages because they know they can be impolite without having their skulls split, as a general thing.
All launches is the same, error error, servers full.. does the companies have some kind of fetish for having overpopulated server at launch? Why dont they simply get enough server from start?

You know these companies can rent extra capacity right? They don't have to permanently buy all the hardware.
They can just rent extra blades in the DataCenter they are using to cope with launch and then reduce it again later on!
That was the whole idea behind the Super Server Infrastructure model Cryptic uses with their games CO, STO and now Neverwinter.
It was a total mess with STO launch.... with login issues and long queue times for two weeks.
Then it was the EXACT same debacle again when STO went F2P.

Proof or it never happened...
If you were there during STO launch and STO F2P.... then you got your proof.
If not... ask any STO veteran player and they'll tell you.
As I only mentioned launch and F2P launch.... but it was pretty much with every new Season content release that the servers were crashing again and again.... going through the same issues over and over again. When people came back to try out the new content.
But that's not proof; it's anecdotal conjecture. Providing more nameless people to contribute their own anecdotal conjecture is not proof, either. The question was not whether or not there was a problem. The question was how Cryptic dealt with the problem, which you stated was, "They just tell people they are looking into it, while the truth is that they just wait till enough people get fed up trying and the servers settle down themselves."
It was asked that you provide proof for this, which requires more than you just stating your experience of the problem itself. How is it you know that Cryptic made no attempt to fix the problem?

The ''open beta' excuse is valid, but this also effects Star Trek online and Champions online
It's not! People are paying "real" money since last week. The cash shop is there accepting you hard earned cash!
It's launch! But F2P games use the "Open Beta" tactic and keep their games in "Open Beta" forever... so they can get away with practically anything.
It's a clever tactic really! Just not for us gamers.
Exactly! Any game that claims to be in Beta when it has a cash shop open is talking shite. If the shop is up and they're taking your money it's a released game, no matter what they call it. You don't pay a sub for a beta, this is no different. Once that preferred business model kicks in and starts to generate revenue, that game is in a released state.
I feel sorry for those that actually paid up front for the early access and now can't get in. There's a lesson to be learned here folks. Stop paying for early access, be a little patient, wait for a review, and maybe we'll start to see working, stable, fully featured games released.
The cash shop was open during closed beta. I guess that means the closed beta was a full launch? LOL! Of course, if you knew anything about PWE, you'd know that they open up the cash shop during closed beta as SOP (and refund Zen during character wipes). It's how they fund the game's development. Now don't get me wrong, I think it's completely contrary to the way bigger companies do things, but it seems to work for them (so far). The Cash Shop & early access purchases are like preorders & early-access for subbed games. It's how the development is being funded for NW (since STO has been nothing but a drain on Cryptic/PWE's resources).
Of course, the official "Live Launch" date is June 20, which anyone who's actually been paying attention to the dev notes would know. That makes less than 2 months of open beta - completely destroying JeroKane's claim.
See, you can't just make up your own personal, narrow definitions for industry terms like "beta" and "official launch," then expect everyone else - least of all the actual companies who use them - to adhere to those definitions.
As for not being able to get in to the game: it's been addressed on NW's Twitter page & forums. Too many people patching at once. "Be patient" is the phrase of the day.
