Neverwinter: Is the game dead now?

OmiragOmirag Member UncommonPosts: 276

What should they do? The game is heavily exploited. Do they rollback? Wipe the server? Pretend they are tracking down people and say they fixed the problem? What do you think?

(I would add rollbacks to the poll but I have no idea how too edit the poll)

    How about a rollback?
  • OmiragOmirag Member UncommonPosts: 276
My issue with the rollback is there have been photos shown of this exploit being used for weeks. If they rollback...how far?

No, it will be a hackers, exploiters and botters paradise, but yeah unless a wipe is done it's history for any legit player.

The game is a jest, who cares how exploited a run of the mill F2P themepark is? In a few months everyone will have forgotten it exists.

No the game isn't dead and in few weeks people will forget about it. Forums are always full of doom and gloom. In game however, it is different story.

I'd be more pissed about a rollback than an exploit that doesn't even effect me. I guarantee the majority of players don't even know there was an exploit, let alone care.

My money is on most of the "wipe the server" poll results are people who hate/don't play the game.

I feel that a wipe is the only way to fix everything that went wreng to date.

The founders AD i got are worth notheing, tracking down the offenders and leaving the economy as it is won't fix things.

neither will a rollback as exploits have been hampering the economy since launch (yes, launch, don't give me the - its beta- crap pls)

Well, it is technically still in beta. They could say they decided to wipe, start fresh for 'launch' after this issue.

edit: haha just saw ereadal message...oh well i stand by it

I agree that the best action to take would be a character wipe, but they can't do that without angering all the people that (whether stupidly or not) bought from their cash shop already.

The people who play and enjoy it care.

    What should they do ?:

    • wipe the servers
    • reset all Zen balances to match actual cash spent
    • relaunch the game (pretend it's still open beta, w/e...)

    What will they do ?:

    • fix the Gateway/AH bug
    • confiscate large blocks of AD where they can find them
    • ban a few accounts (might even perma-ban a few to set an example)
    • clamp down hard on the forums and ride out the storm...

MODS of MMORPG.com please add a rollback button to the poll. Thank you much!

The AD has been laundered though. It is everywhere. Innocent people have fake AD and exploiters have AD. The problem is that the exploiters found an exploit that completely destroys the economy. Would bans fix all the alts and thousands of people with fake AD? would you be able to sort out who was innocent and who was not?

Estimated downtime is at least two more hours. We’ll have more updates for you soon. Thanks for your support and patience as we continue smoothing things out during Open Beta!

First, they need to fix the exploitable content.

Second, they need to track down the exploiters and ban their account.

Third, make it a monthly sub and do away with the stupid cash shop (Zen, AD, etc.) altogether.

It went wrong from the instant Cryptic got their hands on the IP for this game, frankly.  They're completely inept at seeing the mile-wide exploiting flaws in their games.

If they do a rollback, fine.  If they ban-wave all the exploiters and flush the AD they cheated for that's better.  If they wipe, I don't think I could be arsed to level up my honestly-played alts again, since the novelty factor will be zero and there's always the chance that Cryptic will fall flat on their faces yet again in the near future.

Oh well, downloading Ragnarok II now from Steam to keep me occupied through the present - and inevitable future - downtime.

this would make for a legitimate reason to do a full wipe, and take legal action against the offenders

He didn't make a dime from me ,  and wiping the game isn't going to make him lose the money he obtained from suckers who spend real money on a free to play game .

If anything people will get more Astral Diamonds on their characters and the exploiters will be banned. This is the whole part of Open Beta, see where the exploits are. I know people want to call it live, but the cash shop is live, the game is in Beta it's a big difference. The AH will probably be wiped though if people really want a wipe.

+1  Totally agree.  I didn't know there was an exploit until about an hour before shards went down and I played well into the morning(EST) last night.  If this has been common knowledge for 12 hours, I must protest...not quite common kowledge.   I don't even care about this exploit, it hasn't effected my gameplay.   I am starting to get the feeling that most of those complaining are somehow involved in this exploit.   I mean on NW forums there are people complaining about the money spend on founder packs when they are not even founders.   On NW forums if you are a founder, it is labeled by your name.   These people complaining about their $200 that they did not even spend are probably the same ones complaining about the exploit they participated in.   Also can we note, there are exploits and bugs in all games (to varying degrees).   If they rollback these servers they are pushing consequences on the innocent, who just want to continue playing and developing their characters.   They idea that MMOs are now competitive is what has caused this issue to begin with.   Just enjoy the game people.  If you use exploits, you are only ruining the game for yourself, and now that you are complaining on every forum, others as well...

If I want a world in which people can purchase success and power with cash, I'll play Real Life. Keep Virtual Worlds Virtual!
