I find that quite funny, claiming it's open beta, yet banning like it's gone 'gold' :)

http://neocron-game.com/ - now totally F2P no cash-shops or micro transactions at all.

Also i forgot to point out that it might not be technically doable to roll-back the servers, not every company have that sort of infrastructure these days as it is costly.

And as for wiping the servers... .. . Not sure that is such a good idea either. People tend to get over financial loss a lot faster then loss of time. So they risk a lot more people leaving if they wipe the servers then they do by keeping the exploited economy. Especially as a server wipe would hurt the casual player a lot more then the exploited economy.

@fusion: well just look at it as them testing the ban function on people breaking the EULA =P

This have been a good conversation

That is how it always goes. It might be called Astral-gate by the ones who like to seem in the know but all in all it will not do much.

I was expecting  the same. That's not what appears to be happening.

A lot of people I know got banned. Some tested the exploit once (on themselves) to see if it was true and then reported the exploit straight away. Some didn't exploit at all, but were actually victimized by it (someone bid negative on their items and they lost the items they were auctioning).

Atm it seems all of these people have been perma banned. So much for beta being about reporting & fixing problems.

lol, i keep laughing at all these beta remarks.not everything wich is called beta is a beta.   this is not a spoon :p

Exactly. This game is just not finished and playable.

It seemed finished and playable when I tried it, but, as the above poster stated, the game is crap. I found it extremely repetitive while retaining only the most tentative connection to D&D. That being said, for those players that do, somehow, enjoy the game I wish them the best of luck. Were I still playing/interested I'd be in favor of a wipe for much of the same reasons I favored  a server wipe in the original Darkfall.

Client crashes, Memory leaks, Faulty game design, Numerous exploits, Too many bugs ...

These cannot make a game finished or playable.

I played with the founder's pack and now my $60 is also looted / cheated.

This game is a shame and the companies behind it should do something.

Else, this game will just be an example of the manipulative malpractice EXECUTED between a service provider and the service

My money is on most of the "wipe the server" poll results are people who hate/don't play the game.

It's not gonna affect you, when they do nothing and the Whole ingame economy is insanely inflated due to the insane amount of AD in circulation.

Legit players have already an Extremely tough time gathering AD.  Items and Upgrades, etc were already crazy expensive. With now the entire ingame economy litterly destroyed! Good Luck getting anything the legit way.

    What can i say.

Some need to learn the hard way, dont get in bed with Cryptic NCsoft learned the hard way.

Hell even our "Bill Roper"  learned that :P

Wipe the server, close down the game. Bring it back up again when it's actually ready. Refund everyone's money that bought Zen.

... it will never happen... but it should.

I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

I want to know how all this happened in the first place? How are there so many holes in this game to allow all these exploits? I think as you do, just restart the game, give the founders what they deserve and let us all start from scratch. I know there are tons of innocent players around that would never ever exploit, but for us folks, it is too late to try to get this economy under wraps again. I worked hard to get where I am atm, but damn, I do not want to live in this world where there are cheaters who have billions of AD for nothing. Personally I think this whole damn planet needs a rest. I can't comprehend how any human would even feel remotely okay with exploiting a game like they have! Is there no shame? No feeling of how dirty one might be for doing this? It really is beyond my comprehension. It honestly makes me feel bad for humanity. And I know it is just a game. A virtual world. But if all these humans could do this in real life would they exploit it? Serious question there.

    Faulty Game Design.

Greed of real money from developer and publisher.

    Just one mistake.

Sorry m8t, keep repeating that last line to yourself every morning when you look in the mirror and every night before you turn out the light.

Perhaps that will make you feel better about yourself.

I have never cheated in a game. Never will. Call me a loser and a sucker if you will. I don't have to tell myself stories so that I can live with myself image

IF someone is losing sleep over cheating on a bloody video game they need to get their priorities straight or get medical help. IF you feel that if you cheated on a game you wouldnt be able to  live with yourself you too need to seek profesional help.

SpottyGekko that comment should be reserved for the developers/publishers, not the poster you quoted.

If exploiting a bug is easy as shit in this game because it's easy as pie, the game is broken. Playing a single-player game is a bit different; you can choose not to quicksave, choose the difficulty level of the whole game, godmode/give yourself best items in the game, etc. You cannot be a player in Neverwinter (or any mmo), shove your fucking head into the ground like a six year-old child (or an emu) and lecture others about how we're being bitchy and whining about "exploits" and "cheating".

Even if you're just finding out about the exploits and the collapse of the AD/Zen shitstorm, you aren't an any better person by saying "it doesn't effect me just play the game! Gosh!". People are paying big $$$$ (alot of people in this thread even) and putting in big trust in the developers for making a good game that is secure and not swiss-cheese'd with bugsploits.

Another thing to think about is this: If you are playing this single-player-mmo and all you need to play is in the game already (no need to trade for stuff) AND already know about this disaster, then make posts defending the dev/publishers actions is immoral, illogical, and tells others that when you are typing, you've replaced your brain with your ass. Now, you might be very intellectual and have a Ph.D in selling snakeoil but in the case of gaming, you're helping continue the failing of our genre.

I'm happy if you're having a good time  with this game and it's giving you entertainment and I hope you always do (if not with this game then other mmo's), but we all should understand that THIS DEVELOPER AND PUBLISHER have cheated people and this needs more coverage on gaming sites (might make another thread).

Relax dude, it's a game and only a complete moron would give any money to the cash shop when it's still in beta.

  • MajorBiggsMajorBiggs Member UncommonPosts: 709

Uh no, I won't relax and as you can see from forums (not just this one) that people just might take things seriously. Especially when money is involved, regardless if it is F2P.

I agree though on the rest of the post. I hardly spend money on a F2P title except when I can see myself putting alot of hours or it's like EQ2 and a regular subscription gives me the whole game. But lately F2P titles are getting alot more cash from the overall subscriber base than just having a flat fee...but yeah I wouldn't exactly people "retarded" cuz they'll say "you fucking sesquipedalian lysol-wearing motherf***er who are you to say what people do with their money!?".  They're getting alot of money already from players (all F2P mmo's are, how do you think they're running) so you and I might as well call half the people on this forum idiots lol

If the game is good then it can be sub based and be successful for a long time .. Look at WOW .
  • kjempffkjempff Member RarePosts: 1,759

Game dead ? Well those servers are certainly dead. They will find a few exploiters of the ah bug and those who did it recently, but as with the others exploits, they are only going for the worst cases.. the rest will go free. So I have no faith in a fair outcome from "investigating and banning".

When things settle and exploits have been addressed in some months or half a year, and if they make a brand new server with new economy, I might come back.. but then again.. who knows if other distractions have caught me then /cough EqNext.

You know the smart exploiters dont' have 100million on one account, they did it on anonymous accounts, split stuff up, sent it to other accounts numerous times, and bought legit items and resold.. exactly the same as in real life, the more complicated your transaction record is to unravel, the more chance there is to get away with it.

Open beta are great for optimizing server structure, server numbers and such. But not things like GW's oneshotting bosses, buggy AHs, non-existant graphical optimization, game freezes, malfuntioning AI mechanics (threat being borked for 3 months running, basicly screwing over 2/5 classes.)

Having a long beta is not the problem. Having bugs is not the problem. Having a NO WIPE open beta with THIS many bugs and then throwing REAL MONEY into the mix is the problem.
The game basically launched because of the shop. Too much real money is tied into this atm. The economy is DESTROYED and if they do a wipe many of the people will quit, if they do not many people will quit in a few months because the economy is unbearable.
In short, they fked themselves and more importantly the players. I do not blame Cryptic completely, although the glitches, bugs and exploits are clearly all their doing, but PWE insisted on launching the game during a beta state with a cash shop and fked the game. It is sad because something so beautiful that could easily sit on 2 Million+ constant players could now go to slowly die and be lucky to keep 100k after a year.

This AH bug for weeks is something that any halfway decent programmer would never have let into live code in the first place. Not to mention that checking inputs on the forms and trying to break them should have been handled by properly written tests and/or QA. It is sloppy, particularly as this is a piece of code tied to the value of Zen and AD.

    -1 for Cryptic

Cryptic + PWE = no surprise that something like this happened. Both companies are sub-par, but for different reasons.

A good game won't die off because of a little problem like this.  Neverwinter is a long way from being a good game though so who knows how it will be effected.
