Get What You Pay For

First impressions...

It is pants.

Graphics are rubbish....feels completely childish

Character creation is terrible ....

Waste of time mobs ... got no xp for killing mobs just quest completion (I think)  all chars rip through mobs in starter zones in a truly meaningless way.   Sure it has to be easy but this was pointless.

2 Character slots only on free version (over all servers) .. barely any more with paid founders packs costing £40-120

No drops from mobs or at least very few so .. forget gearing up by grinding option - at least in starter zone ..

Feels claustrophobic already

Is there any reason to play this game over others out there with much more class ?

Actually you do get XP from mobs.... unless they've changed that due to exploit of xp.  Which is something that should have been done off the bat in development which they have been told numerous times of the exploit which they ignored.

But I agree the game is completely rubbish and you get what you pay for, this is the quality of F2P games.

A free to play hate post, this is both new and interesting.

Perfect World brought something new to the table and was worth playing for a few weeks at least.    Tera, GW2, SWTOR all had something new or were worth playing , again for at least a few weeks.

This game appears to have ...nothing ..

It is on the surface .. embarrassingly bad

Maybe you should get past the tutorial before raging about the game. Just a thought...

When has graphics made or break a game?

You get exp for killing mobs, its small but it depends on how hard it was, just like any MMO.

2 Character slots only on free version (over all servers) .. barely any more with paid founders packs costing £40-120

I can live with it, it is annoying, ill agree.

Plenty of drops, my bags are constantly getting full.

I'm not newerwinter fan, it has its terrible sides but you lost me at tera and swtor.  Seriously, what has swtor brough to gaming world except perfect example how NOT to spend 100 million dollars (or was it 200 million?).

    Perfect worlds also brought... what????

Trolling a bad game is still trolling.

No fate but what we make, so make me a ham sandwich please.

Actually. no I shouldn't.   If I don't get any excitement from 20 mins play ....why am I going to invest my valuable time trying to find  it.

The opening animation sequence is dire as well.

The graphics and character creation wont get any better after the tutorial will they ?

The mobs look like collage cut outs being animated towards me on at 12 fps

I haven't even been told in game I'm in a tutorial or a starter zone.

You do yourself zero favors by not at least giving a balanced opinion and state something good about the game. Post like this are typically labeled "hate post" and no one takes them seriously.

Was there really nothing you like about the game? I can't remember the last game where there wasn't at least one thing I dug.

Sorry, just not hip enough to understand what this means "It is pants."

Of course, the game has faults but graphics, really?  I thing the graphics and atmosphere are better than average and work well in the game.  I do feel the game launched (yes launched people. Cut it out with your only open beta nonsense) with very little content.  Oh yeah, we do have the Foundry which is fun but shouldn't make up for lack of developer made content.

You do get xp from mobs so not sure where that criticism came from.  Stick to the Foundry and keep all your money and you will be fine.

Trolling a bad game is still trolling.

SWTOR brought voiced quests and fairly compelling character storyline.

    It also brought Star Wars.

Granted it brought a lot of shite but this gamer has nothing except perhaps the foundry ...

Perfect World brought a modern setting and some reasonably interesting questing options, innovative factions and pretty decent graphics.

I dont mind forking out on a box if a company spent millions of dollars developing the game.  Im not sure why you think anyone should for out 30 to 200 dollars when the company seemingly spend bugger all on this.

The OP already made up his mind. He should just /uninstall and move on. Nobody will convince him that the game is fun, that the graphics aren't "that" horrible or any of his other complaints are due to not playing past the tutorial.

  • PanzerbasePanzerbase Member Posts: 423
So why are you telling us? We don't care, go uninstall.
  • TsuruTsuru Member UncommonPosts: 297

    [mod edit]?

Yea. Impressions. You havent given one. The definition of impression is: An idea, feeling, or opinion about something or someone, esp. one formed without conscious thought or on the basis of little evidence.

Note the bold part. Little evidence, you've played 20 mins, thats not long enough to know anything about the game.

How exactly have your posts convinced me or any one else with half a brain and at least a few pubic hairs that my impressions dont reflect the actual game?

I played 40 mins on two chars and I have played years worth of time in  many many MMORPGs stretching over 15 years.

While you're most certainly welcome to your own opinions, please do not post comments about a game when you have only played the tutorial.  This is not what I would expect from a valued poster, and it only fosters a flame war (especially when there are dozens of other threads that have done the same thing).

In my opinion, the adult thing to do would be to play it until level 30-40 and then give your impressions in a well thought out manner as opposed to your original post, followed by equally hostile responses to those who would naturally (and I'm sure you know they would) disagree feverishly and or ask you to get past the initial tutorial.

We've seen a lot of rhetoric and posts about this game with the exact same content as yours on this forum.  You can look them up and see the amount.  In all of them, they were the same as you and judged the game based on character creation and didn't even finish the tutorial before publicly displaying their discontent.  Imagine if a game you enjoyed was met by a someone who did the same exact thing -- and you saw it multiple times by people who obviously didn't give the game any chance -- and how you would respond.

In addition, the time you have played MMORPG has no relevance to this matter.  Many of us have been playing MUDs, and started actual MMOs with Ultima Online.  That does not give someone immunity to fallacy; though it does apparently give quite a lot of people a big head as they believe they have some profound insight in the genre as a whole.

Let's take a look at Age of Conan for example.  The start of that game -- the first couple of hours -- were not representative of the game as a whole.  Let's look at any book, and then remember the old saying "you can't judge a book by it's cover".  All you have accomplished is repeat what others had and, in my opinion, shown a certain sort of ignorance or intent to needlessly start a flame war.  If someone likes a game, then your words will have no affect on them, and as a whole most people don't really care about how the universe seems to revolve around you, your thoughts and your "experience" (in response to your posts and not the original).

Harshly said, maybe.  Though some of us truly need a wake up call.  All most of us ask is to post something in an unbiased and well informed fashion, thereby sparking a mature and informative discussion as opposed to what I have seen here in your presumably provocative mannerism.

Due to frequent travel in my youth, English isn't something I consider my primary language (and thus I obtained quirky ways of writing).  German and French were always easier for me despite my family being U.S. citizens for over a century.  Spanish I learned as a requirement in school, Japanese and Korean I acquired for my youthful desire of anime and gaming (and also work now).  I only debate in English to help me work with it (and limit things).  In addition, I'm not smart enough to remain fluent in everything and typically need exposure to get in the groove of things again if I haven't heard it in a while.  If you understand Mandarin, I know a little, but it has actually been a challenge and could use some help.

Also, I thoroughly enjoy debates and have accounts on over a dozen sites for this.  If you wish to engage in such, please put effort in a post and provide sources -- I will then do the same with what I already wrote (if I didn't) as well as with my responses to your own.  Expanding my information on a subject makes my stance either change or strengthen the next time I speak of it or write a thesis.  Allow me to thank you sincerely for your time.

It's nice to see that the OP felt so disgusted by the game that he had to come and bash it on here...

'Cause, you know, it probably took him longer to post this "review" of the game than he spent playing the game.  So his opinion on the subject should matter greatly to all of us.

Let's all wait for his ill-formed response; I find this thread entertaining.

ONLY 2 CHARACTER SLOTS?! OH NOS!  It's free to play... this is the kind of stuff that annoys me.  People complaining that free to play games don't give them enough free stuff...  I wish this free to play garbage never existed.

yup, and it only costs a whole whopping $5 to get 2 more slots!  I might have to spend my entire yearly salary just to get 2 character slots omgz!

For the price of a normal game, you could buy 30 extra character slots :)

We're all so sarcasticly bad XD

Your time is so obviously valuable, that you choose to play a Free game... If your time brings in such value normally, try out paid games.

The opening animation sequence is dire as well.

?? Not sure what you are trying to say here? I assume you mean something about the beginning cut-scene? I thought it was quite good graphically and actually a bit emotionally compelling.

The graphics and character creation wont get any better after the tutorial will they ?

No, but in what game are you given the option to pick your characters place of origin, what they did there, and also fill in an entire Bio about them? Most MMO's dont offer that kind of character customization.

P.S. There were sliders to adjust your characters features, maybe you missed them by rushing through?

The mobs look like collage cut outs being animated towards me on at 12 fps

You should seriously consider getting a new computer. I am force capped at 60fps the entire time I play the game and no mob has ever looked 2D or 'like collage cut outs.'

Dont blame a game for your computer.

I haven't even been told in game I'm in a tutorial or a starter zone.

And this upsets you... why? Do you need the game to hold your hand even harder than it was in the NW tutorial zones? Because if so, you might want to try games with different approach.

I have no idea about the world I am in .. cos the map is crap.

This. This sentence is why I started this reply in the first place. Are you really trying to tell me that the ONLY way YOU can have an idea about the WORLD you are in, is by looking at a MAP?! You sir need to stop opening the maps in games and TAKE A LOOK AROUND YOU!

In original EQ and other games of its day, there WAS NO MAP!! Imagine that! And yet I can still get around EVERY SINGLE old world zone without the use of a map. You know why? I paid attention to the world around me! and because of that, I had a GREAT idea of the world I was in.

In summation, don't take your own flaws/misconceptions and think that that is what the game is.

Nothing like a balanced review after playing a game for half an hour. The start of the game is training and yes, the mobs are easy. I think the characters are a bit meh... But some of the scenery is stunning, and it can get quite difficult. My wife is in a group as I type and she is the only healer, and she is struggling a bit. Great game, thoroughly enjoying it. The players efforts on the foundry are outstanding, so many good adventures created.
