I bought the CE of the original 1.0 release of FFXIV. The site lists Pre-order bonuses of the new version as including a hat, a pet type thing, and Early Access.
Looking over the lodestone forums, it seems that old holders of accounts wont get Pre- Order bonuses. I don't really care about a hat and a pet, but are they really not going to let us start playing at the same time everyone who preorders will?
I mean, we are like the original damn pre-order-ers...
It adds to my confusion that we (CE holders) WILL be getting the new CE bonuses.
Surely they just didn't put in that we'll be getting Pre-order bonuses as well?
At least let us start when the Pre-orders are going to start....
Is there something i'm missing?
EDIT: I'd ask on the forums, but for some reason i'm not allowed to log in there. Says incorrect name or password.
Going to just the account login page though, i'm allowed into my account...dunno whats up with that.
EDIT2: Found my answer after all. FFXIV 1.0 account holders will NOT get early access unless you are a Legacy Member. You will have to buy another game to get into Early Access. Pretty dumb.
Will people who have the 1.0 Collector's Edition be able to apply the pre-order bonus in-game items and early access rights to their old accounts if they pre-order the standard PC version of the game?
The Deep Web is sca-ry.

I meant the SQ-E website, thanks. I edited that out
I'm pretty sure I just made this up in my mind, but I thought I read something whereby if you registered FFXIV 1.0 before it's official release way back, it will also count as a pre-order in terms of A Realm Reborn and early access.
Not able to find anything on that, but I could've sworn I saw it some where (might've just had a dream about that or something).
As for the early access thing, that will be in limited quantities as a whole (pre-ordering isn't a guarantee as they said the invites to it are in limited quantity with regards first come first serve pre-order sales). Given that, they might as well just have the official release on early access if they let everyone in and not the pre-orders and maybe Legacy (who likely would still be playing today if the game wasn't shut down).
Though it's understandable that the thought of that would potentially suck. Thankfully we'll have July for Open Beta and Beta Phase 3 if you were an owner of the original.
No doubt. But it also holds a very real possibility that all of their servers (and the areas) wouldn't be able to hold hundreds of thousands of people trying to log in at once. Early access will likely alleviate such.
The only thing SE ever promised was the ability to download the new version for free. The ability for owners of the Ver 1.o CE to receive the digital items from the new Collector's Edition was just officially added though hinted at previously. No mention was ever made about Pre release entry. You may be confusing that with Phase 4 Beta where you will have access to your old character and any progress will be saved for the Official release.
In the product overview SE stated that the Collector's Editions will be in limited quantities. All Legacy members will gain automatic early entry as well as those who pre order the Collector's Edition. That could easily amount to over 500K.
Nah, I wasn't confusing it with that. Just something that I could've sworn I read. Might've been feed back from some where and some one and I just can't remember where.
Understood. I know a lot of Forum posters where screaming for it but SE never formally replied to them.

Important Information for Customers Purchasing the PlayStation 3 Version

It is not possible to register or play two or more copies of the PS3 version on the same account even if you purchase additional software. Please note that only one Sony Entertainment Network account can be linked to a Square Enix Account.
Logging into the Same Account on both Windows and PlayStation 3
Customers who own a copy of FFXIV version 1.0 and wish to use their account on the PlayStation 3 version will need to purchase a copy of the PlayStation 3 version. However, please note that your account will only be able to log into one platform at a time.
Collector's Edition Digital Upgrade Service
The Collector's Edition digital upgrade offers customers the ability to upgrade their standard FFXIV account to Collector's Edition status via the FFXIV Service Center website that is scheduled to be opened at the launch of official service, which then grants the in-game bonus items included with the Collector's Edition. Customers in possession of the Collector's Edition for either version 1.0 or A Realm Reborn will receive these Collector's Edition items without needing to purchase the upgrade.
* Characters that have already been created will be able to receive the items.
