I'm thinking of getting World of Warcraft or Guild Wars this week or sometime soon at least, so I'm pretty well asking you guys about which you think is the best. Guild Wars may be free2play afterr you buy the thing, but that doesn't matter to me. I'm just wondering which one I should buy for quality and community, etc.
Thanks ahead.

Both games are quality products but if I was forced to choose between these 2 I would have to say WoW. It is a true MMORPG world rather then all instanced. Much more play value. Loads of good content and a lot of raids if you have the time. Graphics are nice but they are a bit cartoony for my taste. The game world is very large.
It has a few down sides like monthly fees and the PvP is just a silly grind in instanced battlegrounds. At 60 there isn't much to do besides raids and the endless PvP rank grind. If you are into either one, it will keep you entertained for a long while.
Guild Wars is fun but because of its very limited scope you will pretty much play it out in a month or two. Its PvP isn't much different from WoW. Fight over flags and relics on small instanced battlegrounds.
Of the 2 communities, I would have to go with WoW. Depending on your personality, you may have a tough time finding any mature players. GW's community is just bad.
Good luck
Sent me an email if you want me to mail you some pizza rolls.
WoW is a lot of bolox GW is so much better besides and besides no need to pay monthly for WoW when you know a free server
you do know free servers are not allowed, right?
and i'm the one who gets called a fanboy and people say i bash games all the time (which i DON'T) and you got this guy here, who no one says a goddamn word to.
Hmm, thanks for the tips.
I think I'll prob go with WoW, even though it has fees per month (which is only £8.99 UK ) so it's not too bad.

After reading some of he/she/it's posts I get the feeling trolling forums is the only game they really play.
Yes, World of Warcraft is better than Guild Wars, in Guild Wars, you HAVE to do the missions, in World of Warcraft, you're (semi) free to do what you want.
And really, £9 GBP a month isn't a huge amount by pretty much any person in a developed country's imagination.

No Userbar here, sorry to disappoint.
No one says anything to it because it never says anything worth hearing !

i'm glad my posts are worth reading then.
I say guild wars only because it has no monthly fee. No other game deserves your monthy payments atm.
Guild Wars, first off its free!! Its a fun game with great Pvp action. Graphics are beautiful, unlike WoW which has very cartoon like graphics horrible community with lots of kids argueing about Vin Diesel and Chuck Norris. I have played both and I highly recommend that you buy GW. Save that 15$ every month and buy your self something nice!
Guild wars I played for two days, WoW I've played over a month. Make your own conclusion.
It's very hard to get constructive comments in a thread like this...best way to find out is to READ the comments that people have written in the voting sections of the 2 games, if you read through enough pages you get a good idea of what the game is like.
That being said, they're both good games, they're just totally different from one another.
I mean with GW you can form a small group (guild) of friends work out a "team build" and try to dominate the arenas, if it doesn't work try other builds, you could probably have fun with that for ages. (If you're into that sort of thing) The actual "mmorpg" part of the game is short but it's well designed and is fun to play through. Classes and skills are good fun and the whole game is a professional package.
WoW is probably slightly better in that all these good points still exist (even the guild/arena type thing with battlegrounds now) but the mmorpg part of the game is much longer and infinitely more involving.
Both good games...hugely different...play 'em BOTH at the same time, after all, one is free of monthly fees! (And each one can give you a slight break from the other if needed) It's like getting 2 games for the price of one
guld wars is a bit to short so i would go with wow

I havn't gone through all the replies because i bet half of them are people moaning at you for asking the same question asked a million times already but i will give you what i think is a semi accurate response based on my experiences with both games.
Do you want a game where you can get addicted to and a so called social life killer?
If the answer is yes, get WoW because GW just doesn't have the same lastability. With WoW, you can easily lose yourself in it for a good 6 months with fairly frequent play but GW just doesn't have the same addictiveness. Having said that, if you're a casual gamer who is looking for a game to play for a few hours each night, GW is your best bet.
The only problem you will find is that in WoW, to get maximum enjoyment, you need to join a good guild and on any server these days, this isn't easy. Even when new servers open, most of the good guilds require you to have a level 60 with raid instance experience.
WoW, much more satisfying solo and group content. Pvp, you may find a bit more crap than guild wars though.
We gave up on him a long time ago.
Buy'em bought. Play Guild Wars from Wednesday to Monday, then play Guild Wars on tuesday due to WoW's weekly maintenance. Heck that's what I do! Guild Wars simply lacks PVE content, and it's not the kinda game where I can spend 30-40 hours a week where I'll PVP non-stop! Cause that's what Guild Wars excels at... PVP!! You grind non-stop to unlock items and abilities to make your PVP experience more better.

GW has 1-2 days worth of content and your done. WoW has 1-2 months of content. WoW has a horrible community but not near as bad as GW. GW is well done and a quality game but it is one of the worst MMORPG's I have played. There is a reason GW has no monthly fee. Nobody would pay for it if they charged. GW is essentially a MMORPG with training wheels. Its good for a few days but after awhile you may want to play a real MMORPG.
I am not the biggest WoW fan but its a very well done game. Its fun and enjoyable. If you can ignore the immature community it is fun. If you like solo and make alts even better. But if you want value for your money stay far away from GW.
