Personally, it seems like WildStar is the most hyped talked about MMO. But those are good top 3 choices no matter the order. Even though a rarely see EQN chatter.
Maybe the post should be entitled... "The MMOs of 2013" because as of right now, it's not that we are really dying to play any of those titles... it's just that they are likely to be the only titles worth trying in 2013.
Honestly all I see on the horizon is "more of the same" with a different coat of paint. I think it's pretty obvious they need to come up with an entirely new genre of game, this one is the horse that has been beaten to death so much it hardly resembles a horse anymore.
I agree, there are some really stunning visuals being created... but the underlying core of gameplay just remains the same. It's like a new model car coming out... skin deep it looks new and exciting, but generally speaking, it's still the same car under the hood... just a new year and price tagged onto it.
ESO was my number 1 till they announced EQN would be releasing shortly after Aug. EQ1 was my first MMO love but if ESO lands as B2P I may play that just for the 3 faction war. I wonder if EQN will have PvP other then just a open world FFA server? This would make or break what games I buy this year.
I agree with ESO and Wildstar.. but the rest.. meh, never played any previous Final Fantasy games or Everquest.. and ArcheAge seemed interesting in the beginning, but not so much compared to ESO and Wildstar.
Leave it to MMORPG.com to make an MMO that has ZERO concrete details the most anticipated MMO of a year thats half over.
Articles like this never disappointment when it comes to disappointing.
Sorry but some mmo just have a certain pull even if we know hardly anything about them. The EQ name has this kind pull, EQN is vast news even if we are in the dark.
And isn't it funny that so far that EQN is number one in 90% percent of the responses. Will it be a fantastic game, who knows but you can bet your ass that many on this site are watching the game.
ArcheAge, Wildstar appears to be the next good titles... I'm just not sure anymore. I'm not even sure I like MMO games anymore. After so many bad releases, I'm just a bit numb about them. I'm hoping EQ next will retake the throne but Planetside 2 is going exactly where it shouldn't.
For me I would just change the order around, basically having EQN last because I have yet to be impressed with any news about the game, but I agree with the list, those are the games I look forward to playing this year.

Best part is, the guy in the video says "Most Wanted MMOs of 2013" to imply that the list consists of the most wanted mmos to be released this year (2013) instead the title should have been.
Most anticipated MMOs of 2013

For gamers like me ( started in 2000 with EQ) you don't need any details about it, just the words EQ Next are more then enough to trigger a reflex like pavlov dogs. If EQ next was pre-selling I would buy it right now. Even though I have my share of disappointments on the last years.
I hope one of the will be good but to be honest I don't expect one of those games to meet my definition of a MMORPG or even the definition listed on WIKI.
A good list (Better choices than the best of 2013)
My most wanted are:
EQ Next
Elder Scrolls Online
Phantasy Star Online 2
SWG 2
FF XIV ARR (as long as I can use old discs which I bought just as soon as they closed off new accounts and proceeded to close the original version. I am not buying the new ARR version)
"What games are you most looking forward to learning more about or playing in the rest of this year?"
From the list, only WildStar. (and off the list maybe Firefall...)
I have some anticipation (or just plain curiousity) on FF XIV and ArcheAge (:a??e?d? sorry, couldn't skip it, loved that thread about its pronunciation). AA seems like a decent game based on the infos out there, and FF XIV... well, probably my account is still exist somewhere in their database, though I don't even remember the name nor the passwd I've never looked back after the first failed launch.
TESO, I don't see myself playing it on the long term... I'll check it for sure, but factions, locked areas... not my kind of ES I guess.
And since I wasn't a big EQ'er, I think I'll pass the Next one as well.
I will keep an eye on Wildstar. It has to have great gameplay for me to play it. because they happened to chose an artstyle that I just don't care for (which is not easy to do ). The features so far are quite themeparky. I have to see if they are more then just a gimmick (housing, paths system).
ESO meh. Don't like what they are doing with it. I will keep playing the singleplayer games instead.
EQNext. Nothing to say about this. No clue what this will be about.
Don't care about FF series.
Archeage. Not sure about this one. I like sandbox features, but what I can remember from old beta footage was that the game seemed to be quite grindy.

This, unless you actually played and lived EQ nobody can really understand the pull that EQ has, it's a giant.
Sad that 4 of the games are fantasy, and wildstar is semi fantasy. The industry needs more high tech, historical or other genre games. Fantasy is played out.
Comments
Yeah planetside 2 is a success. Sonys march report had the game getting 750,000 unique logins per week. It's also their current best money maker.
That's a good amount of players, its probably the 3rd most played western mmo after wow and maybe gw2.

And EQN uses the same Forge Light graphic engine, it's going to look the nuts.
1. The Repopulation
2. ArcheAge
3. Black Desert
4. Blarggggg
5. Blargggggggggggggg

I had a feeling that EQ Next would be #1.

The Repopulation
Wild Star
Don't really have a 3, 4, and 5.
EQN might make it in my top 3 when we get more info on it
All I heard was... "Well aren't you just a little lolly pop triple dipped in psycho."

1. NC soft are publishing the game, you know like they published GW2. Carbine are the developers, so it isn't NC softs "game".

Only game I am waiting for is Pathfinder Online.

Edit: lol, it filtered the ipa characters.
No, SoE said that they had gone back to the drawing board since we last saw it.

Great list and I didn't know that some of those that worked on vanilla WoW are on Wildstar.
Where have I been?
