EQ1 remake as EQv1.99 and i come back.
Seriously if they would remake EQ1 with new grafics, new classes and races and keep most of the EQ1 game system then i would love to buy that.
EQ2 is horrible compared to EQ1, overall EQ2 has nothing to do with EQ1.
I love EQ and i often think about the times with my 3 60is Necro, BM and Mage. EQ1 was the best game i have ever played and i played them all.
Only DAOC or AO,AC1 comes close, the rest is sadly nothing in comparsion.

Have you given any thought to coming back to see what EQ has to offer now? The level cap is up to 70, so you'd have plenty to do. The graphics are old, sure, but they've improved. Some common critters, like spiders, have all new models, and some zones have been updated, for better or worse (specifically, Lavastorm and Nektulos).
For all the people looking for a new EQ1, the old one is still there waiting for you, and it is a whole new game twice a year.

The latest expantion lets you do monstermisions that alow you to play "monsters". Like neschria says they have revamped some zones and with each expantion it seams those new zones graphic's are a improvement. Sure your toon still looks the same from Luclin but the world around you has been changeing.
Maybe Dark and light can fill the shoes of lost eq1
i Loved eq1 and u are right DAOC is the only thing that came close to it
I preorded dark and light it looks tome it has alot of good charistics of a game like eq1 and daoc
hopefully they incorperate some of their ideas.

Was about to say the same thing, if you want old EQ1 updated with lots of new stuff etc Vanguard is the way to go, after all it is being made by the ppl that made EQ1
if they made a old skool server that is just vellious enabled i would come back and play. but until then or until vanguard comes out i will stick with eq2.

You are well well wide of the mark with that IMO
Vangaurd already has a large following and its still in early beta, its being back by Microsoft so it will have alot of money behind it for advertising, press etc.
It may not have alot of new stuff (but it does have some really good stuff) but I see nothing ground breaking in any other games coming out either.
What VG is aiming for is a throw back to older style game play. i.e Harder leveling, more grouping, meaningful travel (ie no ports) no instacning, etc
Will it have as many subscribers at WoW? No but thats becuase most people playing WoW wont like the tougher game play. Brad has said he will be over the moon with 500,000 playing for 4 plus years. They are in it for the long haul, not the fast buck.
VG will not flop it will be around for along time imo It will atract a group of players who want a challenge in there MMORPG WoW is proof there are more than enough players out there to fill all the games coming out.
Oh geeze, People, People. Have respect and faith. Vanguard will come out fine, and me loving their previous work On eq1 all the way up to Velious, am very pleased in the style of games they make, they know what they are doing, sure it takes them some time, but they do it right, hopefully this time they dont sell out to sony. If they go SOE. I give up on all mmo's......

seriously though, besides Dnl vanguard is arguably the most highly anticipated game to be released in '06 it has enough fanbase to release right now if it had to.
no it is not going to compete with wow's fan base and it doesn't need to, to be successful. like somebody els already said they will be thrilled with 500k people playing and as long as i am on a high pop server and have fun that is all that matters to me
