in Everquest
Hello, I am returning to Everquest after almost a year off and was wondering what major changes have happened within the year, if any.  I have tried almost every MMO out there since EQ and havent found one that was better.  Thanks.

    There is no better than EQ.

    Biggest thing is the server mergers, that wiped all < 12 characters. I somehow got caught up in a major error and lost ALL my characters except 3. Hope you had better luck.

    Everyone in the game is caught up in Depths of Darkhollow. Although at the end of my free tour I had every intention of purchasing the expansions and continuing, my problems with SOE will just not go away, and after hours of trying to figure out their payment system again I gave up.

    They probably wiped my 50 warrior on accident then, which sucks, but i was going to start a new toon anyway.  Thanks for the info.

    This was and still is the very best MMORPG available on the market today.

    Dont think that other Sony offerings are worth trying however.  EQ appears to be a one hit wonder for Sony Online Entertainment.

    IF i am correct. You should have your level 50 char but no chars under the of 10 due to the server merges

    EQ1 pre Luclin was the best MMO hands down. I've played many other MMos (DAoC, EQII, WoW, GW) out on the market, and no other game had such a nice community and great gameplay than EQ.

    Thats because sony didnt make the game. Verant did. The game was great until sony took it over and started releasing an expansion every few months. If u like the game now and hadnt played it back before sony owned it then u proably wouldn't like it as much now.

    It was 10x better back then. image I hate sony so much. Right now I prefer World of Warcraft because im into PvP even the little WoW has. Its also alot like Everquest.

    Hmm.

    I think Sony did make this game huge. With out Sony, we would still be running around in Norrath with the lower graphics. But thats just me.

     Thats great for you.  People have their likes and dislikes. Aswell how they like to play.

    I am considering coming back as well, can anyone tell me if anyone still uses some of the old world zones that were still considered good after lucling came out?  AKA High Keep

    Well Bobiin,

    I think there may be a ton that still play in the Kunark/Velious, but that is just on my server.

    I think on Zek? There is a guild that plays pre-luclin, which is pretty neat

    I tried coming back but just could not deal with the ancient graphics and gameplay compared to either EQ2 or WoW. I literally vomited just a bit in my mouth when I saw how crude the graphics were. There is just no going back for me, I might as well whip out my NES and start playing Contra again, great for nostalgia sake, but it's appeal is that of a Jay Leno monologue.

    And that is exactly why as much as I miss those days back when my Erudite SK hacked away at knolls in South Karana I have no desire to go back to EQ again. For those guys saying there isn't any better game than EQ, maybe, but the popular ones right now certainly aren't worse either.

    That would mean they delete a fungi tunic with many stuff on my account...lucky for everyone I don't currently plan to play EQ again, you have no idea at the amount of hatred you would read over a deleted fungi tunic (and hoard of stuff prolly worthless now).

     

    I hope there is more consideration to their deletes than levels.

    Some people on my server Povar do still play in old world zones but many of the older zones due to the difference in risk vs reward are less populated and tend to be a BYOG situation but i would love to play with you in some of the older zones. If you decide to come back on Povar send Gaeasheart a tell and ill log an alt to play with you if im not doing something else =).
