Thought DFUW forum are full of QQ, but it nothing compared the new QQ that is going on for ESO. The game has been delayed and will be made as console friendly.
The mods in those boards are locking one thread per min during peak E3 coverage.
See it for yourself. http://forums.bethsoft.com/forum/190-elder-scrolls-online-general-discussion/
I am very glad that I didn't wait for ESO and jumped into Darkfall. We have many that are waiting for Camelot Unchained which will release in 2017 :-)

I would guess that 70% of the complaints with DFUW relate to older players super pissed that combat is different now. You cant cheat and macro-bot your character up anymore, and they are publicly banning cheaters with a website listing banned players and what clan they are in. These people are pissed, extremely vocal, and very interested in driving new players away so the game fails and they have a shot of getting the old game back...where they were very big fish in an extremely small pond.
I would then guess 20% of the complaints are from people who expected a polished product. I don't blame them, game is rough but not unplayable and its getting better slowly. Not nearly as bad as some people make it out to be...but it was really...really bad during beta.
and the rest...well cant make everyone happy I guess. This is a game that you are either going to love or hate..and some play the game and hate it for whatever reason...well mostly because they can no longer faceroll groups of people since they implemented roles over the soldier of 1 that everyone was in the first game.
Combat is more restrictive, and it is a touch slower...benefit is that this time around 99% of the people who play darkfall wont suck horribly at it and leave, downside is that 1% who were good at 1.0 are pissed they cant faceroll the lesser skilled players...its a trade off for more people. Well I take that back they can still faceroll players but they can no longer solo large groups of players. Combat is more forgiving and more people will be an acceptable level of competitiveness with a bit of practice and without the aid of macro scripts like in the first game.
Certainly not as bad as the old vets make it out to be. If you are into sandbox combat, farming pve mobs for prowress or afk resource harvesting, like the aspect that pvp can happen at any time...and think poltics related to clan warfare is fun...its a game for you. Just don't expect communication from the developers or speedy development, and expect trumped up developer posts that are way too over ambitious...expect a stated ETA to mean that a week after the ETA has passed they will break silence to give the new ETA lol.
Slim pickings until a large budget sandbox with full loot appears, made by people not restricted to suits...which may be never. By far the best of its type though...not that its competition is anything remotely acceptable.
Very well said . I do think AV would have been better off let DF1.0 server up and running and let rest of us enjoy DFUW. I don't understand the rational behind closing DF1.0. Server maint cost I guess...
Now Playing: DARKFALL Unholy Wars "Return to Open World, Full Loot PvP, Conquest in a Sandbox MMO with player driven economy! Just like classic MMOs!"
DF1 vets are not all happy. Some of us love the new game.
Go ahead and play ESO. Oh wait it is not Spring 2014. Cross you finger that you get in the beta lottery ha ha.

Yeah its kind of funny the vets who know exactly what to expect from AV seem to be complaining that the game isn't where they want it to be right now.
For whatever reason they are stating that fluff like monliths, sea towers, and some other crap makes the game unfun...when all that stuff is just fluff...not saying I don't want it but ive played long enough to know what to expect.
No one cares about zealot leaving other than a few other bitter vets...majority of the game doesn't know them and doesn't care if a really small clan that's totally inactive is dying.
Game is improving,..and at that far faster than 1.0 improved when it was new.
Oh and the reason they don't keep 1.0 up is probably to reduce confusion as to what game people want to join...the fact that only a few thousand people were playing 1.0 towards the end and even less active daily...why keep the broken game no one wanted to play alive while the new game that fixes a lot of the old issues is launched ?
No one wanted to play 1.0, not even the vets who now long for it back...everyone was ready to let that game go...until they took away the vets ability to faceroll large groups of people and made it apparent they were not going to be 100% unstoppable this time around...which is more fun for the many new players 1.0 lacked.
I get why they hate the new game, I loved 1.0 for what it was...and it was a game that had a LOT more development time put into it than DFUW.. Give UW some time it will catch up and surpass where that game was...now that the game isn't built around totally broken mechanics combat and progression this time around. So glad the games not full of afk people running skill cast macros to skill up ...that's exactly what 1.0 was a month after launch...and the game lost many..many times more people than DFUW lost after its first month...I think the games on the right path and shows signs of a healthy playerbase.
For all that I miss with 1.0...the community was just 100% unable to play the game legit, which ruined the game for everyone else...which is why at the end only the cheaters and a few die hards remained...it had to be killed for its own good...game cant survive with no new players joining.
Game does need about 6-18 months before it gets to the same state as 1.0...its missing a lot of stuff new players wont notice...so long as they keep up their more active than usual patches and fixes things will be fine...game seems to improve weekly even if they are behind on their forever LOL ETA's. It does need work, it does need improvements to combat, it does need more content...but the foundations there this time, it didn't lose most of its players after the first month, and the game isn't full of people afk macroing their skills up...its full of people playing the game...and that's good.
Yes I saw yesterday and also had a little fun myself. I honestly think that ESO is going to be a complete failure and disgrace to the Elder Scrolls series, I want to see support for Add-On's More realistic Character Models and Life-Like game play not some generic MMO that has been there done that before but I have a feeling ESO will be crap.
DarkFall UnholyWars is pretty Damn good lots of players actively pvping and sieges compared to DF1 its actually a TRUE sandbox compared to EVE Online.

As for the response of ESO Forums, I believe they need to get rid of Summer the moderator who keeps doing lame things to the board, not sure if thats the only moderator but every post that I have seen locked has been by them apparently they do not know how to moderate and do stupid things to players who support their community.
Your first "guess" is a terrible one. MOST people wanted what was expected in DF2010, when UW was created all those concepts were changed beyond what people wanted and AV made changes that NO ONE asked for. The anger and frustration comes from years of being led to believe XX was going to happen only to be surprised that YY actually happened and it's not what was really needed, asked for, or wanted.
SOE tore SWG apart and that crowd was pissed for years.. still pissed even. Build up a fanbase and then shit all over them, see how you get treated.
DF2010 ftw.
Problem is that a few minor tweaks to 1.0...which was what DF2010 was going to be...wasn't going to get them more players. Population declined after every "expansion" and every "grind reduction".
They took a shot at a game that fixed most of the core issues with 1.0 which is why they did the remake. Core issues such as horrible gui, everyone cheating and macroing, and combat that only 1% of players exceled in...that was fixed.
Game needs a hell of a lot more improvements but I don't blame AV for trying to get more than 2k players across two servers.
Not sure if you remember how lame the game was with no one active and playing. Im not sure the "DFO combat #1" crowd realizes just how many people left the game because of the ridiculously high player skill curve on that game. Even the good players needed 3rd party scripts to fight. Yeah the 50 or so people who were awesome at 1.0 combat are really mad now...they are not longer unstoppable...and with all the new players...few really give a damn about their opinion on the old game that's dead.
I loved 1.0 for what it was, don't get me wrong...but you have to be blind to not see how the changes to combat were a good thing for the game. Right now on the NA server things are looking good population wise despite these old pro's spamming their "im quitting the game is shit" threads...the new blood is having fun and doesn't care..
Sad to see people leave like that, but in the end, they were unable to deal with the fact that the play field is a bit more tolerant to new players.

Awaiting Darkfall Unholy Wars
There is no rumor btw...unless your mistaken with the launch of the game in korea with them selling the rights to the game.
Also, people have been saying this since like 2002 when the game was still under development. Back when the game was vaporware and AV were a bunch of liars ect. Nice you think they are the worst company ever with no reasoning behind it though.
They are pretty damn slow, and really stupid to make ETA's on content to appease the community though...since they are really bad with predicting how long it takes them to do stuff...ill give you that. However a "good" company would have pulled the plug on this game long ago, im glad AV has it and sticks with it.
Game has a future, just not as a blockbuster AAA game with hundreds of thousands of players.
