This is one of the coolest games showcased at E3. The integration with mobile, how they did it, is truly innovative.
I'm not really part of the PC master race, but I can't see shelling out 500 bones for a gimped piece of hardware and mediocre software service that require a subscription to play online games. The first release of the console generation is never their best and worth waiting for the improvements.
Being Devil's advocate, I wouldn't want to shell out $2500 in order to play the game on a PC when I could pay $500 and get a console that is optimized for it already (and where the manufacturer is taking a hit and selling it to me at less than cost). Maybe that's outlandish, but if we're talking about a system that can run even a cryengine 3 game on high settings, you're looking at at least $1000 just for graphics card and processor.
As far as hardware woes, ummmmmm yeah, those suck, but I'm sure that it will be better this time around because they always learn from their mistakes, HA! Make sure to make use of your warranty!
Arguement kinda falls down because you don't have to spend $2500..
Well, no, you might not HAVE to. However, if you look at something like a Titan as a graphics card then you're talking well over $1000 alone. Add in a couple quad processors (like i7s) and you're talking about another $600-$800.
Remember we're talking about running The Division on MAX settings on PC. I don't even know if a $2500 system would do it. Sure, I'm sure they could bring it to the PC with some gimped settings, but why? I think you'd be hard pressed to find a system that runs something like The Witcher 2 on Ultra settings that is below $2000.
It could just boil down to art style and how they want their game displayed. Maybe they don't want the graphics to be dulled for lesser PCs. The market that could run it on PC would be super small, too (aboslutely no numbers to back that up).
I can build a PC for under $700 that'll run any game available today on max settings, and this same PC will be upgradeable for the next 5 years.
Back on topic. I really want to play this game, but I also really don't want to buy a console when I have a perfectly good PC to use.
The point of the console is, when you turn the system on and put the game in.. it will just work. No problems with hardware compatibility, no drivers to update, or graphics card issues. You put the game in, and you play it, or start it from the menu.
Sure you can worry about bottlenecks and making the best PC you can for how little or how much money you want to spend, and you may fall somewhere in between the recommended and max specs, and more times than not you'll still run the game just fine -- but theres always a large amount of players who get a game, and can't figure out how to get it to play well. Be it lagging issues or crashing issues, or connection problems, or poor performance.
When you get a console and a console game.. you just play them. That for some people is enough to pay for.

We all can get our hands on an e-machine that can 'run' any game today on max setting.
But you are kidding yourself with $700 if you want quality...unless you are only talking about MMOs
you should look into building computers, since you seem to hacka knack for it.....
can easily build a computer that will run everything on max for under a 1000
Oh my this game looks sick. This is the first time I have seen any video on it. Though I would rather play mouse + KB any day of the week, I think they just sold me on the PS4 for this. It's time to retire my PS3 soon anyway. For now it just serves as my Blu-Ray and Netflix player.
And let the Console vs PC war begin... fps games in consoles are bad = fact
Anyways can't wait for this game it looks soooooo awesome!
I think its dependent on the game in question. Looks like The Division will have a lot of movement, ducking, covering and things like that. Kind of like how Gears of War was, though this looks - right now - to be done a little better. I wouldn't have wanted to play GoW with a M&K though, so environmental and movement wise, I think a controller would be great.
700-800 is the magic number for building a decent budget computer. If you shop smart and do your research it is easily put together for that price range. Every computer I have built has been in that price range or cheaper and has always been able to play pretty much any pc game on max settings that are currently out and that have come out for 2+ years after. With a decent MB you have the ability to upgrade your ram and video card in a few years, which often isn't even needed.
Anyhow I will grab this game for PC if it comes out for it, and potentially also for PS even if it does make it to PC.
The game looks cool but if it doesn't get released on the PC I won't be buying it. I'm not saying consoles are bad I just prefer KB+M as I cannot get the hang of a controller... old dog and all...
Originally posted by BillMurphy Personally, I just want it on the PC for the controls. If the PS4 edition allowed M+KB hookup, I'd be okay with that.
Bill have you brought this up with those you know in the industry? b/c quite frankly, this really needs to happen. the crossover would yield higher sales and interest i think, expanding playerbase at least on the console side. and it would probably help in eliminating all those pesky crossover features we currently see in games like Defiance if the dev teams were being given an honest dual focus, rather than an apparent dual focus that actually seems to lean in favor of consoles.

The game really got my attention but..................................
If you watched the interviews player looting is only in regards to "freshly looted items in pvp areas." Soon as you make it back to a safe hub that item is yours to do with what you please whether it be to use it or sell it to a player. The game is going a high risk great rewards route the best items will only be available in the pvp zones sure you can buy them off other players at a hub but if you want to get it your self you need skill to actually get the best gear. Also getting to a safe hub isn't so easy you have two choices attempt to stealthily walk back through the streets trying to avoid other players or do the quick escape high risk route as was done in the gameplay video by laying down a rescue beacon which alerts all players in the area whether friendly or hostile of your position and will put you at a very high risk of losing your freshly acquired items.
And let the Console vs PC war begin... fps games in consoles are bad = fact

There is no war because the battle has been decided already, and consoles lost. PCs beat consoles in every possible way that you can compare them. Consoles are simply a way for a giant corporation to market last year's technology to children who's parents are stupid enough to buy it for them.
Isn't this entire Game + app thing getting a little lame?
I understand that tablets and mobile devices are becoming more advanced but are people seriously even looking to "Game on the go"?
As if people aren't distracted enough these days. This entire trend just sound so...meh.
I get to play a mini-game of the game, game that I play at my home on the go go.
Jeezus...disconnect people. lol
Now on the other hand...if we can actually port the entire game from our consoles/pcs to our mobile devices. Then yeah im all for it but giving me a lame mini game isn't what I call a port.
Wow... Everything's an MMO now. People that call their games MMOs that are just not MMOs make themselves look like retards.

Sales.
Games that are released on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC the PC version ALWAYS sells less than the console versions.
Also, because the console versions sell for more and have less piracy they have higher profit margins.

Exactly, Bill. The controls for consoles are extremely clunky when playing a game where you actually need to aim. It's funny, even watching the developers play Destiny at E3 made me chuckle. They seemed to be having a slightly difficult time themselves trying to aim.
Its to early to hype yet, might be as crappy as defiance as far as we know. Gameplay vids like this says nothing about the game anyway, looks entirely scripted so keeping my breath so far.
Naturally it requires a band of swedes to actually make something a slight interessting... We need more of em by the looks of 2013 to make this crappy year look better.

Just curious, any reason why? PC GoW MP was awesome, and practically everyone played kb+m. Had way more intense matches there than any I ever had on the 360 version.
Though I will say, wall bouncing didn't work anywhere near the same degree as it did on the 360 where it was either do that and gnash or die.
OT: Put me down for another that hopes for KB+M native on PS4 if PC version doesn't come out, though I'd be surprised if it didn't.
I wouldn't call this an MMO though. If one must, from what I read it sounds closer to GW1 style where you gather at the hub, form your party there and then go on a private instance. Only major difference I've read are the open PvP areas where you can run into another group and during extraction.

Probably a hubber, like those you mentioned (probably holds 50-100 players on the same instance tops).
Definately won't allow all players (thousands) to be on the same new york instance (doubt it'll have other big areas at launch anyways)

MMORPG Gamers/Developers need a reality check!
I really like to know how the App looks on a tablet.
Other then that definitly a game to keep a eye on.
All the assassins creed were on PC
Watch Dogs on PC too and that's a new franchise also.
