Miguel Caron stated that they intend to add all the factions at a later date. He spoke of the difficulties of adding the SoB's, but didn't say it wasn't happening. I think Necrons are a priority though.

I have faith. The way the game is shaping up to be more of a massive pvp campaign, there. would be little story involved i think. ALL quests are given by chain of command.

Having them as a playable race just feels lorebreaking imo.

The new Necrons are not soulless anymore. They do communicate. Although I would think its mostly the leaders.

    For an example:

"Few Necrons awaken from stasis-sleep with fully functioning consciousness. Most arise addled by the long slumber, their wits and reason slow to come fully online. Not so Anrakyr - he rose from dormancy with his mind intact and a great purpose foremost in his mind: to reunite the dynasties. Embracing this as his destiny, Anrakyr abdicated all responsibility to his own Tomb World of Pyrrhia and led an army into the stars."

"Trazyn the Infinite is a preserver of histories, artefacts and events. In his possession are technologies and relics that are so valuable as to be priceless. Amongst his collection are the fabled wraithbone choir of Altansar, the preserved head of Sebastian Thor, the ossified husk of an Enslaver and a giant man clad in baroque power armour. In such a dangerous galaxy, Trazyn is loath to go out and explore it himself, but with so many exquisite artefacts to see and catalogue, he cannot afford to miss out. As a result he will send out substitutes of himself to do his dirty work. On the battlefield this can become increasingly irritating, as killing what appears to be Trazyn may simply be a Lychguard or a Necron Lord. Meanwhile, somewhere nearby, the real Trazyn is busy smashing his way through his foes to get his metal hands on his latest acquisition."

As you see, Necrons are, if you could call it 'living beeings' now. So they could actually be playable perhaps.

pretty sure for most loyal fans, the old necrons are still the `true` necron in their hearts.

Matt Ward`s heretic lore reworks can go elsewhere and flush himself into the abyss of the eye of terror.

Sisters of Battle when implemented, than i am sure as part of the marine faction, and not a faction on its own(like we see in DoW:soulstorm).

As for necrons, too imba to be player faction, just a guest, but when the first campain over and the winner decided, a new one start(and for a new planet) where the npc faction is the necrons.

Considering all the facts: They will be adding all the factions at some point.

The reason why they aren't adding Sister's of Battle, is because of how they were discussing the game's features and gameplay, they considered them to be a little too much, overpowered and the such, imbalanced if you will. But it isn't out of the realm of possibilities, I'm sure they'll add them as I am an avid Sister's of Battle fan myself.

I am a little puzzled as to how they'll add Necron's to the mix, but I think it'll be cool. I'd love to see how they incorporate all factions (excluding Tyranids to the list of playables of course)

If you don't get the significance of this, it's referring to piece of 'fluff ' (lore) written by ward in which the Blood angels lead by Dante are engaged in a battle with the Necrons.. Mid way through the weeks long battle the Tyranids turn up and the former combatants team up to kill the nids.

After the Tyranids are killed both sides simply cease hostilities and walk away treating each other as honorable adversaries.

    Seriously WTF?!

Is that from the Blood Angels novels? If it is, you just gave me the reason to stay away from them @.@. I guess I`ll just start reading  the other chapter`s novels then....

lol, isnt it better when we made a necron topic about this?:D

(the main question about necrons: are they still with the C'tan or are they enemies? )

Got off track from poor Sisters of Battle :)

but to not waste my post here for more off, here it is: i hope when the sisters implemented(altho i am sure with eldar) they got flame throwers or melta guns. ( :D )

I think it's a mistake to not add the sisters as an analogue to Marines for female players, or for men who like playing women....I don't understand why it would be such an issue...they use power armor and bolters, whole they don't interface directly with their armor via the black carapace, they still are known to be an effect enough fighting force that I wouldn't mind them being just as strong as space marines for game balance purposes.

Your argument is like a two legged dog with an eating disorder...weak and unbalanced.

HERESY!!!! oh... but you are prolly right.

So lore-wise the Sisters and the Space Marines have little to do with each other, beside both being part of the Empire of mankind. Sisters are the Chamber Militant of one branch of the Inquisition while the Space Marines are their own thing, quite independent from everything else in the Empire. It is not rare that the two have conflicting objectives and may even fight each other as seen in many Dawn of War games. Much more likely that they will cooperate though.

Game-wise, yeah. It is better to have all Empire-related factions under the same umbrella or then you end up with Oks, Eldars, 4+ Chaos Factions and 12 Empire factions which could lead to the Empire factions allying with each other and dominating all maps.

The Sisters of Battle as part of the Space Marine faction?  To quote Darth Vader from Episode III:

    NooOoooOooOOoo!

The Adeptas Sororitas need to be part of their own Inquisition Faction or at least part of the Imperial Army faction.  It makes no sense to have them grouped with the Marines.

Remember, the Brides of the Emperor - the Sisters progenitors - fought the Marines tooth and nail:

    http://warhammer40k.wikia.com/wiki/Adepta_Sororitas

"...at the height of the Age of Apostasy in 378.M36, an elite Space Marine strike force composed of forces drawn from the Imperial FistsBlack TemplarsFire HawksSoul Drinkers, and the forces of the Adeptus Mechanicus assaulted the renegade High Lord Goge Vandire's seat of power -- the Ecclesiarchal Palace on Terra. The Space Marines, believing Vandire to be only protected by legions of zealous but ineffective Frateris Templar troops, launched one of their trademark lightning Drop Pod assaults. However, once on the ground, the Astartes found to their dismay that they had grossly underestimated the opposition. Facing them were a corps of superbly trained warrior women, clad in Power Armour and wielding Bolters, who fought with a passion remarkable even to their Astartes opponents and stood their ground to the last woman, fearless and fanatical in the belief that they were protecting the Emperor Himself. The Space Marines' assault bogged down as they were pushed back with casualties, and the attackers were forced to resort to a long, grinding and bloody siege of the Imperial Palace complex with quarter neither asked for nor given."

After this they went back to their old name Daughters of the Emperor, then under the Decree Passive loophole (it forbade the Church from having "men" under arms) became the Sisters of Battle.

PLEASE don't put them with the Space Marines!

No, dont mistaken, i am happy when they got its own faction, but there is a thing what needs answear:

    - why would the marines and sisters fight againts eachother when all of them fight for the emperor? (no, dont say DoW, thats too weak for answear :D because that game is created for that prupose "king of the hill" againts all "factions" with weak explanation <- imperium of man is a faction, marines and guards and sorositas just a groups in it).

    In-lore it is really easy.

The Adeptus Sororitas are the military branch of the Ordo Hereticus of the Inquisition which, as the name implies, occupies itself of finding heretics, traitors, illegal psykers and that sort of thing.

If there would be suspicious of a certain Space Marine Captain going heretic, the Sisters would go and try to kick his ass, pronto. The line between heretic and "corrupted by chaos" is quite thin actually, so even if the Sisters work for the Ordro Hereticus, they have a great deal of work involving Chaos cultists and demons of course.

Why would a Space Marine Captain go heretic? for a thousands motives, they are a very independent-minded people, having their own planets and being part of the Empire, yes, but at the same time they consider themselves the Chosen of the Emperor and so above everyone else BUT the Emperor. Some Captains might start thinking heretical thoughts etc.... plus half the Chapters went with Horus at the time, so it is not that there isn't a precedent eh?

Why would the Space marines attack the Sisters? If they need to do X on planet Y and the sisters are stopping them because the Inquisition commanded them to do Z. The Space Marines might have to complete their mission regardless of opposition from ANY front.

But it is true that the two are much more likely to cooperate than to fight.

In lights of what Miguel said, however, that they do not much care if factions allies with each other and there are even tools in game to do that, then I now changed my stance and see the Sisters as part of the Inquisition or Imperial faction.

The other chamber militants of the Inquisition are the Grey Knights for the Ordo Malleus (specialists vs Demons) and the Deathwatch for Ordo Xenos (specialists versus aliens). The Deathwatch are just Space Marines, they are even taken from other Space Marines chapters. The Grey Knights are special space marines, own chapter, own rules, very psychic oriented and scary bad asses. This would not make for very good companions though, Deathwatch marines are just... well.. marines and while the Grey Knights are different, they tend to be few in numbers and highly squad-oriented as their psychic powers are enhanced the more of them are around

The main Imperial forces, however, are so vast. A guardsman is no match for a space marine, though, so maybe they could be a second F2P option? With the Sisters as main playing options supported by various Officio Assassinorum agents, commisars. elite guardsman and Grey Knights when needed. As members of the Inquisition, the Sisters of Battle are far more likely to fight side by side with the Imperial Guard than the Space marines as the latter tend to be more reclusive and private.

Thanks for the additional information on alliances.  I do hope that makes it into reality.  They can "hard code" that certain factions would never ally with each other, but allow other factions to either fight each other or ally at their discretion.

An easy way to do this is to make alliances zone and time dependent.  In other words, let's assume the Sisters of Battle are part of an Inquisition Faction.  As such -

    * they would be hard-coded that they could NEVER ally with Chaos or Orks

    * they could ally with any others, however those alliances would be: a) zone specific; b) time limited.

In other words, the Inquisition faction could decide to ally with the Space Marines to fight together in Zone X as allies; this would be for a certain time, which could be renewed.

This would add a political dimension to the game.  Ideally, each faction would also have sub-factions.

Well, I hope they will be available.. Personally, though my knowledge is limited, I know of no female space marines and I for one would welcome giving females playing the game the option to play as, well, females.

As the game market is growing more women find their way into different genres of computer games, and while they can play as males, would you like being forced to play as a female? I wouldn't, personally, for the sole reason of not being able to inject myself into the character as well as I could playing a male.

I fully admit being biased, however, as I know my wife prefer playing female characters.

Regardless, there are times where - as a developer - you have to let options come before lore. And to be frank, in this case it's actually a minor detail in lore anyway imo. That or include the only group of female warrios according to official canon.

I honestly believe that the Space Marines shouldn't get their *own* faction. They should be a sub-class of characters for an IMPERIUM faction. Choose Faction - Imperium. Class structures available - Space Marine (with all applicable specialty branches - IE, tech marine, chaplain, librarian, etc..), Inquisitorial (Inquisitor, Sister of Battle, etc...), Imperial Guardsmen, Ogryn, Stormtrooper, etc...

Problem: the imperial faction would then give you a lot more bang for your buck.

Pound by pound, selecting any other faction would be BAD because they do not have the sheer variety of classes and type of characters the Imperial faction will have.

As they are selling this stuff in a shop, it makes no sense to advantage one over the other.

In the tabletop game (though I am not familiar with recent events) the Empire is always broken in several factions, like Space Marines, Imperial Guard and Inquisition.

Keeping it this way make sure each faction give you roughly the same content without having one dominating the rest.

I guess they could keep all of them in the same faction, but you need to buy them separately in the shop, though I like it more if they keep all separate. There is no rule in the Tabletop game that stops Imperial factions from fighting one another.

yes, its give variety and little chaotic too, but i agree with the thinking, i mean usualy they are with each other and not againts and this way easier, But gives a little wierd look :) just imagine a band of good friends make a raid party with a spacemarine terminator, an imperial guard comissar, canoness from the bleeding heart, a fabrication general from adeptus mechanicus, and finaly a Marshal from adeptus arbites.

yes, i didnt want to see this way honestly :D
