Been catching up on older single player rpgs I’ve missed due to having a substandard pc at the time.

Currently playing “Drakensang – The Dark Eye” and Half Life e2.

Also, I’m probably the only person on earth that’s never played Skyrim so really looking forward to starting it.

The problem I have with most of my old school games is they are dos based and I dont have a PC that runs dos anymore.....I've tried dos box but it doesn't work worth a crap with the games I have tried on it anyway.....I'd love to dust off the Master of Magic and Daggerfall CDs but they just dont run on my PC.

Neverwinter nights 2 Again.....the don't make them like this anymore....:)

Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there, wondering, fearing, doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before.

Same.  I got into a little D&D kick and started playing ToEE, NWN2 to include Storm of Zehir, and some Icewind Dale 2.  I tried Baldur's Gate: Enhance Edition but after a while I remembered why I don't like the pre 3.5 rule set.

I keep trying to get into Daggerfall but I really hate how you have to use the mouse for combat (swing your sword with the mouse).

That is what is keeping me from getting into Daggerfall, too. It is strange because I have a blast in Arx Fatalis where a player uses their mouse to create the runes to cast magic spells.

    OT:
Right now, I'm not doing much gaming as I am in the middle of building a new PC. Should have my case fans this week and all will be good to go :) I am just playing short Board Games right now like Rail Empires: Iron Dragon or Catan: The Computer Game. Puerto Rico and San Juan are other good computerized board games I start up quite a bit lately.

I went on a buying spree earlier this month at GOG.com (Good Old Games) and have a good list of games that I will be getting into shortly. I even picked up Wizardry 6,7,8 from them, thanks to Loktofeit :)

I got Planescape: Torment when it released way back when and never got into it. Never made it out of the starting City :) This is another purchase I made at GOG and look forward to getting into.

yeah I have arx fatalis as well but haven't really gotten out of the starter/tutorial area. I really should buckle down and see if there is more there for me to like.

I have mixed reaction to the mouse/runes thing because it takes several tries for me to get the shape to activate.

Like Skyrim? Need more content? Try my Skyrim mod "Godfred's Tomb."

Vanguards actually 6-7 years old, i've been playing since beta alongside other mmo's.

Anyway, i've been playing a lot of Gothic 2  Night Of The Raven, best single player RPG ever made IMO.

I like to play Age of Empires II from time to time. This is with the community addition Forgotten Empires included. Which adds better AI and lets you play at modern widescreen desktop resolutions.

EDIT : Forgot to add Sim City 4, which I installed again after I uninstalled the ridiculously bad new Sim City.

I understand the frustration. I struggled with DOSBox, too. Have you tried D-Fend (Sourceforge link)? It is an easier front end loader for DOSBox. It has a "wizard" set up where you click a few options and it does the work for you. Since using that, I have few troubles getting my DOS games to work.

Personally the only modern MMORPG trend that annoys me is the idea that MMOs need to be designed in a way to attract people who don't actually like MMOs. Which to me makes about as much sense as someone trying to figure out a way to get vegetarians to eat at their steakhouse.

The weird thing about it is it all takes place underground. Claustrophobia could be a concern :)

It took me awhile to get "adequate" with the runes via mouse. Even after playing for hours, it is rare for me to get it right the first or second time. I don't use spells in combat because of this, though. It does have 3 nice "spell ready" slots that you can "pre-cast" and let loose when needed with a keystroke.

Arx Fatalis is not the greatest game in the world, but I have fun when I load it up. You slowly get to learn who you are in the game world and why you're there.

Many oldie's can be played if your willing to fork some low budget 2-6$ for games from GOG.COM no need for dosbox and ready for win-7-8.

Its cheap and all DRM free on GOG.COM.

Some awesome oldie games for sale.

I saw a few of the games on GoG.com also...How do they take dos based games and make them for windows7,8,etc?

Pool of Radiance is one I need to get back on.  There's so many classics, so little time.

Would OpenTTD count as an oldschool game? If so then that's what I'm playing.

It's quite relaxing to sit back and build elaborate, yet organized railroads in this game. Well, I guess that's why most play it!

    Currently Playing:
    nothing :(

I replayed PoR a couple years ago on Dosbox.  The good old days.  Need to get back to the series.
