I know that there are other MMOs coming out like The Elderscrolls Online and EverQuest Next AND!!!! that's it. But those two MMOs don't come out until next year or 2014. I PROMISE YOU! So this is the only MMO coming out at this time; this year.
So that being said, we've seen a ton of improvements to this game, it's a new overhall of the system, an improvement in performance and graphics and story and gameplay and combat.
So why not preorder? The price is cheap for PC, 30 bucks, and it's great content for a little bit of money. Have you played the beta, gotten used to the game, is it good bad?
I actually haven't preordered yet, but I'm going to wait until my August 15th paycheck to preorder. Only because of money reasons.

Favorite MMO: Vanilla WoW
Currently playing: GW2, EVE
Excited for: Wildstar, maybe?
already own it, bought original 1.0 CE (played FFXI for like 5-6 years with a ton of RL friends, so i was gonna get it regardless). Hated 1.0 up until the end where i started to enjoy the combat a lot more, so i was excited to see all those changes in a new world/story/servers. Sadly what they did was toss out most of that and go with what every other MMO since WoW, which i tried to enjoy, but im already sick of seeing.
Il basically have a paid CE copy of the game wasting away. Luckly EQN looks like they are trying new stuff and the elderscrolls MMO is pretty much the single player game but sligtly adjusted for MMO style, so il be happy about playing that for a while with a small band of buddys.
But yah, reasons why im ignoring my copy...well its nothing really new, combats pretty dull and same old, same old quest grind, same old everything pretty much (by design of course, they are trying too hard to be up to "standard" after messing up its turned into nothing really special aside from the looks and story)
I have yes, and the reason why I have is because it gives me that old school MMO feeling. It may not be for everyone, it may be more of a niche market, but man, it feel nice.
Also, the game for PC is only 30 bucks which is not expensive at all.
Killing dragons is my shit
After seeing the EQN presentation, I have reservations about this game delivering.
I mean it's Final Fantasy and all, though not the original devs from the 80's / 90's, but every other MMORPG seems more pale.
I'm not sure what this game adds to the genre anymore.

Recognize the voice? Yep sounds like Penny Arcade's Extra Credits.
I don't see how EQN presentation has anything to do with this game delivering. They never promised game breaking innovation. Yoshi P has only set out to make a solid MMORPG not a MMORPGFPSRTS.
And, I pre-ordered during P3 (even though I own it already for early access).
destroying stuff is defnitly something news...yes, especially if its as they say. F2P has to have a cash shop (would have prefered P2P myself, but i cant change that) and where did it say its aiming for the casual and has WoW graphics? sorry have you seen EQ which pre-dates WoW? its always been colorful high fanatsy. You know what games targeting the casual and copying WoW on purpose? FFXIV...and the devs say so themselves.
My wife and I played in the original FFXIV beta and really didn't like the game.
Recently some of our WoW guildies were raving about how awesome ARR is, but we didn't pay much attention assuming the game really wouldn't be for us.
Now that we have started looking into it some, it appears as though there have been a lot of positive changes regarding the things we disliked the most during the original Beta. We have to give SE credit for admitting the original game launch was a failure, and to rebuild it from the ground up.
Though we are very interested in playing, we're not ready to commit to pre-orders until we've had a chance to check it out some during open Beta 4. If we feel confident that it is a game that can draw us in for a long time to come, we'll probably pick up 2 x digital CE pre-orders.
I really wish we had checked it out sooner for the opportunity to play in one of the previous beta phases, but like I said the game was not even on our radar due to our previous experience with the original launch beta.
I did battle with ignorance today, and ignorance won.
To exercise power costs effort and demands courage. That is why so many fail to assert rights to which they are perfectly entitled - because a right is a kind of power but they are too lazy or too cowardly to exercise it. The virtues which cloak these faults are called patience and forbearance.
You do realize this is a FINAL FANTASY game , right ?

Pre-ordered the CE soon as i had tasted a bit of p3!
Was looking for a game that reminded me of my old WoW days back in Vanilla and TBC when i had the most fun. Playing the Beta gave me that same feeling i got playing back then so it was a no brainer for me. From what i have read it seems like its gonna be a blast and ill have plenty to do! The fact its FF themed is just a bonus.
I pre-ordered the original game and am very sad that I did back then because the game sucked.
I've played a couple days in the beta of ARR and I still don't like it.
It's still subscription based where all new MMORPGs coming out are Free2Play or Buy2Play.
Star Trek Online - Best Free MMORPG of 2012
Personally I am keeping an eye on this title, along with other mmo's slated for launch on the PS4. I have quite a few console buddies who are interested in picking up mmo titles. So Ill wait and see how it goes on PC and PS3 first.
Cheers!
