However, those who had already migrated their DCUO to ProSiebenSat were excluded from that concession. Their DCUO accts were married to ProSiebenSat for life.
Wow. That's harsh.
Just checked my SOE account and that Pro-Seben migration message is gone that was there in the past. Right now downloading DCUO through Steam (SOE version of course) to see if I can play on the SOE servers directly. If I can than the statement SpottyGekko has copied is not accurate...
Will update later on after the 18Gb has been downloaded @3Mb/s
"You checked your SOE account..." which means you did not migrate it to ProSiebenSat when SOE originally forced it (or tried to) ?
As I said, if you didn't migrate, you can now play DCUO via your original (legacy) SOE account, without having to create a ProSiebenSat account. That's why you're no longer seeing the migration message.
I migrated back then but the migration message was no longer there...
The download of the 18Gb is completed, fired up DCUO and *drumroll please* I had a message from the launcher that I have to logon through pro-seben. Well, guess that also settles the EQNext thing - NO-GO for me (and a lot of other EU players I guess)

I'm in the same boat. Left DCUO for a time (after 500+ hours of gameplay), was not aware of the Pro7 shenanigans, tried to go back... Access denied, try to make a pro7 account. Funny thing is, since the migration 'window' expired and non-migrated accounts were deleted. I went as far as trying to solve matters through Pro7, only to find open hostility and incompetence from their (so-called) customer support people.
The end result is the same: EQNext (or any other SOE game) is a no-go for me too.
Originally posted by cheyane Reizla could you try logging with a VPN. Since you downloaded all the files please could you.
Not gonna work. First of all, I'm not gonna install any VPN on my system (too much fuzz to try something I don't like ), secondly, my SOE account is flagged as NETHERLANDS for my country. I already tried a proxy (set to Chigago) to sign up for EQNext and it still gave me the choice for US or EU site...
Oh damnit. This is bad thanks for that Reizla. Now I know .I wonder if you create a new account using a proxy then the account will not be flagged then use it to run EQ Next.

This might most likely work. But as said before, I have an active Station Pass for SOE running now and have over 7K SC on it along with (old) boxed EQ, EQ2 VG and DP including some nice goodies and veteran rewards. I'm not gonna make a new account and ditch the one I already have just to play EQNext and pay for SC there as well...
...though I guess SOE really would not mind me to pay twice...
It's a bit strange that SOE doesn't want to be bothered looking after their european players.
Europe only has a little over 700M potential customers. But SOE would rather concentrate on the slightly more than 300M potential customers in the USA.
SOE has constantly failed to market their games in Europe, that is why they have partnered with PS1, but PS1 aren't idiots, they demanded they control the EU service, much to the bane of every player out there.
I'm still trying to figure out if my SOE account will work on the US servers, I quit SOE games when they tried to force us to move to PS1. Though I do have a PS1 account and all PS1 accounts are automatically signed up for the EQN beta (which to me suggests they don't have enough accounts for beta).

You could probably create a SOE account via a VPN (using a fake US residential address), but then you'd be stuck using game cards as your only payment method, unless you had an american bank account or USD PayPal.
That's if can still create and activate a new Station account without registering a verifiable payment method (i.e. credit card or bank debit). The account is classified via it's payment currency, and (as I found out) it's incredibly difficult to change the payment currency. In fact, CS initially told me it was impossible to change the payment currency. It was a long and hard fight to get that done...
There could also be potential problems with entering game registration codes if you bought the game in europe.
i will not be playing this if im forced to go through ProSiebenSat.1, i will try play through my soe account and play the usa servers, if that is blocked then i wont go near the game at all

I gave it an other try to register on the EQNext site and this time after the 1st screen to apply for beta where I entered my logon details, I went to the overall Station logon for my account. Entering my account data again I had the message that my signup for beta had succeeded. I also have the eMail confirmation already as well *YAY*
Wasn't DCUO in Playstation not tied to Pro7? If that is the case, perhaps the only decent way to play EQNext in EU is to do it through the inevitable console version. I known nothing of the sort is announced, but judging by the gameplay style and some of the design choices (i.e. number of abilities limited to a controller-happy 8) it is pretty obvious we're going to get one.

Indeed, this will be the first real test of SOE's deal with ProSiebenSat.
DCUO and PS2 were both "small games", and the potential customer issues arising from being forced to play via ProSiebenSat would have been insignificant.
But EQNext is going to be attracting a great deal more interest from players worldwide, so the potential for a large amount of resistance from euro players is far more likely.
There's going to be a great many euro players dusting off their old SOE accounts and trying to play that way. That means the reaction from SOE might be quite harsh in an attempt to "squash the resistance" early.

That's indeed the site I was redirected to after I was on the "apply for beta" from the EQNext main page. Hope this one works for those who're still looping in the US/EU site pick.
I've added a link to the petition in the first post. As shown in the past, as far as the Everquest franchise is concerned, if enough people shout, SOE will listen.

1. I hate that website design differs from US and EU.
2. EQN EU website has no forums, roundtable and polls while US has them.

Netherlands. But earlier on I could not register at all. I think SOE has found the US/EU selection issue and fixed it.
