I think Dave Georgeson's comparison with the JJ Trek reboot about sums it up. Same name, same basic universe, all new look, all new attitude. While I am kind of amused with a few of the new mechanics being introduced, it does feel somewhat detached from what has been established in Everquest thus far.

It's impossible to come to that conclusion at this point. Need more information besides tech demos.
So far it "looks like a duck" But, OK, fair point. I'll wait for it to quack and waddle before I lable it a duck. Ehhh, Who knows? Maybe it'll actually cluck instead.
I would agree with the previous assessment of it being similar to the JJ Abrams Trek reboot. It is a way to make it new and viable for a new generation of gamers. They are not even trying to get us into their fold (being the old, EQ1 players). They could give two s*&ts about us.
They want new money, younger money and it is obvious what they are marketing for. I am not all that displeased, basically because I had no expectations. I learned a long time ago to not believe anything Smedly ever says, and you wont be disappointed. In fact, it is often better to assume he is flat out lying, to be honest.
