Really need to see the graphic in motion tbh. Game graphic is more than textures. Particles, cloth and advanced bone systems is imo more important, since you use it to bring a character to live. Textures is almost reduced to colors when the character is running anyways.

it's not really an mmo.  it's a co-op action rpg with some aspects similar to an MMO.  same goes for Destiny.  The closest mmo to compare it to is Guild Wars 1

Art is subjective. I think TESO looks bland while EQ:Next has an awesome, vivid style that I absolutely love. So yeah, it is a deciding factor... I'll be playing EQ:Next.

Yes, was actual thinking of that exact clip. It looks really good. You could easely make a animated tv show with this graphic. Elder scrolls online dont look half as good in motion imo.

Another thing the screenshot in the op doesnt do Justice is the materials speculars. Leather, metal and hair actual reflects the sunlight

The reason for the "cartoony" art style is to showcase SOEmote, which he explained in the presentation. Also, although making the graphics up to par with other games would be possible, it would be a mistake because the gameplay would suffer. All of the dynamic elements that they're using in this game are extremely stressful on hardware and servers. It doesn't matter how pretty a game is, if I'm walking through a lag storm constantly, I'm done.

I'm looking forward to The Division as well. Just a heads up though, it's a console only game. Specifically made for the next gen consoles. I do enjoy EQNexts art style as well. I'll be playing both.

The bigger issue is they're going a bit to crazy with the system requirements from the previews...

Looks like it's going to just not be playable by anything that's mid range..

Personally i think cartoony graphics are too much behind the times, can't be bothered with them anymore, but definitely going to be looking into The Division too, no idea it looked that good! i'll just have to agree with the AWESOME! image

I am sorry, I am really not trying to troll your game... but how can you even JUSTIFY EQN graphics? In 2013, or even 2015 when it launches? Seriously. You say it is timeless, I feel like it is 10 years behind already! Sorry, but for me the visuals of EQN, the longer I look at it, the less I like them. It's a pity, since I really like their ideas of gameplay. Why on earth they EVER came to that graphics is beyond me. *shrug* I just don't get it what target audience they are making this for... it clearly isn't me.

In the first 2 pictures. What you see in the first picture is truly next gen stylized art,Full of emotion and ready to go explore the depths of the world. Which equals one happy player, and when the player smiles so will the character. While what you see in the 2nd  picture you have 3 frustrated players who see this  huge mountain they would like to go explore unfortunately, there is this invisable force field that blocks all access to go any further as the  characters stand emotionless in some exiting ?? Sand.

Now onto the 2nd set of pictures. Now the first one I'm not sure what happened with your version of the screen shot. Because the original source was vibrant and full of color. Not washed out like what you presented here. The  2nd and last picture of the bunch does a great job in showing All the browns, greys and muddy green TESO is going to have in it...

So you were showing us that EQN is the better looking game i take it.

I dont like catroon style graphics and really there was no need to go with that style.. balls to the EQ emotion stuff hardly anyone will use it.. still its what they have done and there is nothing that can be done about it.

I will only play EQ:N if it has a really good pvp and crafting system.

While I don't like EQN's cartoony art style I can live with it if the gameplay is interesting enough.

I doubt it most gamers can live with an art style no matter how much they may hate it if the game is good.  I have read so many times how a person hated WoW for its art style but stayed because vanilla WoW was fun. That shot in Feerot in the presentation was very very good I thought anyway.

TESO could have at least much better aesthetics, i dunno why they messed it so hard ...

the same for EQN they made too far cartoonish characters for my taste, and their warrior looks like lion king ... seriously ?  yes cats are adorable but this is the worst beats race i have ever seen in MMO ...

anyway EQN is far ahead than TESO in graphics, quality and aesthetics ...
