With word going around about old classes getting major updates, and a new class on the way,
how about we use this thread to throw around some creative class ideas for something new to GW2!?
it can be one of the old GW1 classes that didnt make it to GW2, or can be a brand new class to the GW2/1 universe.

im a huge fan of pet classes, be nice to have a full on summoner type class with permanent pets that don't suck.
magical based with weakening spells and dots. and yes I know youll say necro but the necro sucks.

What? When did they say or suggest this? I heard that they were likely NOT going to add a new class, just a new race or 2 and develop the current professions more.
Would love a source for this, as you are getting me excited.
Take the Magic: The Gathering 'What Color Are You?' Quiz.
How would it work?
for my idea of the Rit, it would be a shape shifter class that summons spirits of life and death to defend its call.
can shape shift into life creatures like animals and angels, or into death creatures like undead ghouls. Depending on spec and skills you choose.
can summon enviro-weapons for others to use. If not used within 30 seconds the weapon turns into a minion that flies and fight on its own.
Has great healing skills as well.

Well, i haven't heard anything about a new class, but this is an interesting thread. If any new classes are introduced, i would like to see old ones from GW1.
Monk
Ritualist
Paragon
Assassin
etc.
NEW IDEAS that can refresh the STALE state of MMORPGs
would be fun

I've always had a thing for Borgs
MAGA
Where did you hear this rumour of a new class? Because Arenanet already said they wouldn't need a new class since they can make old classes fill new archetypes through new weapons and traits.
This is not a game.
Yeah, no word of new classes.
They talked about weapons.
As someone said, 1hand spear, javelin, crossbow, scythe and maybe one polearm.
Currently playing: GW2
Going cardboard starter kit: Ticket to ride, Pandemic, Carcassonne, Dominion, 7 Wonders
Remember this is MMOExposed, Arenanet probably announced the new class in his reality but not in ours.

Well we need a martial arts class like a monk. A more healing oriented class will make a difference when trying the holy trinity setup in a dungeon.
There's no mention of a new profession. Actually Colin had stated that a new profession was the least likely thing we'd see. One thing they're actually working on is eventually having all weapons available to all professions, each having their own unique set of skills to go with them. Now THAT intrigues me... a two-handed wielding mesmer? Yummy. Engineer with a greatsword or staff? The potential is huge there.
Unfortunately threads like this will inevitably lead to discussions of the defunct trinity, we need healers and tanks, that sort of crap that is and will remain outside the design of this game. I think, rather than letting the thread denigrate into useless banter about a profession that will never come to light, it would be far more interesting to consider they types of skills a profession would have with weapons they currently can't use. A mesmer, for example, with a two-handed hammer that strikes the ground near him resulting in a ranged and targeted AoE knockdown effect, or a spin move that pulls distant enemies to him yet at the same time knocks enemies close to him away.
Oderint, dum metuant.
I'd rather design new weapons so every class gets new skills, but if I had to design a new GW2 class, it would have to be a heavy armor class, since there are fewer of them than any other type. Perhaps something that uses technology like the engineer, but focuses on melee weapons and skills rather than ranged weapons and skills.
Maybe it could be based off of stolen Aetherblade technology and do stuff like stun enemies with electrified blades, lower enemy mobility with oil slicks and steam clouds(that you are immune to), and finish them off with an elite that summons a steam hammer (like the elementalists fire sword).
This is just a basic concept, and I don't have any mechanics worked out yet.
Since when is Tuesday a direction?
