If you look through the different tiers, you can see items from the original EQ.

  • Stein of Mogguk
  • Glowing Black Stone
  • Opaline Bracelet
  • Rubicite Bracelet and Helmet
  • Executioners Axe

If you watch the lore panel, they say that the video of EQNext with the human and kerran running, is in The Ashfang....the Ashfang is what happened when the Takish-Hiz city got destroyed by the spire explosion.

Below where that Kerran and Human were jumping...is the lost city of Takish-Hiz.

Not only should there be treasures there, there might also be a broken spire underground, maybe we will be able to repair it to teleport underground to Takish-Hiz.

They also briefly mention Archaeology....kind of makes you think that digging will lead to discoveries. Maybe not items laying in the dirt but certainly finding ancient ruins, tunnels, underground lost cities and all manner of things that would lead to finding lost treasures.

I look forward to this type of content.  Diggin around and finding new things implores us to adventure.

You're right OP, I see them too now.

That is seriously exciting if we can dig for treasures!

This kind of stuff is right up my alley, especially the mention of archeology; one of my favorite things to do in TEs games is read about things {books} and find them in my adventures, it just brings the world to life. More so than any other element IMO.The world feels lived in, like the original Star Wars universe, Middle Earth, Hyboria etc.. The history is what these worlds are built around.

Yes this is an amazing feature. I wonder if quest starters will be discovered this way too.

Yes! I love this type of stuff. MMO's need more of this. Instead of just focusing on killing stuff all the time.

Isn't this just like "harvesting a node" in many games, instead the digger get a chance to get an item?

The possibility of the universe collapsing into a singularity is higher than the birth of a perfect MMORPG.

Having started my adult life as an archaeologist, I really hope that EQ:N doesn't focus on digging things out of the dirt.  I've already dug my share of 1m x 1m x .5m holes in the ground.   I can assure you, it really isn't entertaining, and 99% of the time, it's rather fruitless.

Maybe their idea of archaeology includes the sub-sub-sub-discipline of paleoethnobotany.   What kinds of grains would ancient elven civilizations had available, and how would they prepare them?

Logic, my dear, merely enables one to be wrong with great authority.

I agree I think it's an upgrade to the shiny system as someone who had many shiny deaths very excited for this.
