Question to Everquest players

MultibyteMultibyte Member UncommonPosts: 130

Hi,

I have never played Everquest and I am curious about it. Which one should I try, Everquest or Everquest II ?

Thanks.

Probably EQ2, it's easier to get in to.

How could anyone answer this without knowing what kind of mmos you like? It all depends on your preferences. Both games have (had) large followings, and no one can read your mind.

What mmos have you played before? What did you like and dislike about them? What are you looking for in an mmo?

I have played WoW, EVE (still playing despite I am not a huge PvP fan), LotRO, GW2, Rift. I have briefly tried Tera, Dragon's Prophet, Neverwinter, The Secret World, Age of Wushu, but could not get in any one of them.

I like immersion, seamless world, world feeling like a world not a game where you access content through menus. So, I don't like pretty much none of the new MMORPGs. lol

GW2 was nice except it is not a seamless world and a little too zergy. WoW was nice until they decided to dumb it down to age 6 level, and filled it up with teleportation points  and menus to access dungeons/raids. I still play EVE but it is a little too much PvP for me, otherwise it is what I call "a game with a brain".

Play Vanguard.  It's right in the middle of what you are used to and what you are looking for.  The only reason to go to Everquest right now is to learn the races, everything else is going to change in a year anyway and you won't know squat, not even the lore.  Vanguard is wide open if your machine can handle it.  Plus it will acclimate you to the sandbox theory so that when Next does come out, you will be more prepared.
