Anybody else noticed some resemblances with "Monkey Island"?
I think such an art style would be great! It's not childish, but beautiful and witty.
Maybe "EverQuest Next" is a bit going into this direction! I would love a MMOG with such a graphic:

I dunno m8, that clip actually looks pretty damn good...obviously due to CryEngine 3...
But, there's no mishapen, oversized, lion-raped Drolvarg "Drerra" offspring like we saw at EverQuest Next's debut...so...hard connection to make there...
Out of the entire reveal, the only thing you didn't like is the Kerra? And you say the entire game is made of horrible graphics? ... not sure what to say to that one.

It just sounds like you were being very critical of what they presented. Not much praise along with a mountain of criticism sounds harsh.
1. The "EverQuest Next" engine will be not much worse than CryEngine 3. The difference will be the voxel engine, but that's what I am pointing at, because the blockishness will lead to something somewhat similar to the "Monkey Island" style.
2. I am not saying that it's the same. But others make gross comparisons. In my opinion the spirit of the art style is closer to "Monkey Island" than to "WoW". ;-)
3. Of course "EverQuest Next" is way more realistic than "Monkey Island" and not focusing on being comical. I am just talking about a slight parallelism...

i get it, you dont like the graphics, now quit spewing your dislike all over the forums, whats even worse is you think your being clever...

Those graphics look amazing for an mmo, people will complain about anything.
The OPs comparison is not fair. The world actually looks really pretty. However they could change the shaders and the lighting to give it a darker tone.
LOL yes they cloned Mufasa and Belle for the reveal!
On a general note:
I think many people have a problem with some singular aspects like the Kerran and then trash the whole picture. I think the graphic style of "EverQuest Next" is very good and fitting the cubical environment:

I just wanted to bring an example like "Monkey Island" which is a game for adults with cartoony graphics and in my opinion looks great in 3D.
I admit that the art style could be better, it's far from perfect!
The faces look great under some circumstances (see above), but lackluster in others.
I was really disappointed by the concept art. The artist has some problems with proportions, and other stuff. It doesn't look professional to me. Another example is the cover art:
It's nowhere near to Keith Parkinson. The blonde elf's face looks like carved out of wood. The artist lacks skill in painting faces. The setting is unreal: To the right: a small pond, to the left we see a river down in the valley... this makes little sense and shows that the artist has limited comprehension of physics or doesn't care for an immersive scene. There is no equality regarding gender: only females in the front. the only male human is hiding behind another female. The female at the right has a male leg though, which looks totally silly. This is bad art.
Actually I was really worried when I saw the concept art and then a bit relieved after I saw the in game scenes: The in-game graphic artists are way better than the cover artist and concept artist.
