Vampires/Warewolfs MMORPG

Is it just me or would a Vampires/Warewolfs setting MMORPG be awsome?  Theres just so much gothic scary stuff regarding this area of mythology/myths.  I love game lore and a game like this would sure have alot of it.  Immagine starting the game with a nice juicy video about a vampire killing your family and making you a vampire, then you growing up as a vampire killer.  (just one path)  Or a warewolf who's being chased by vampires etc.  Then how about a Dark Age of Camelot type realm combat where its a mass of vampires against a mass of warewolfs?  Man its great stuff.  What do the rest of you think?

Is there a Vampire/Warewolf/Gothic MMORPG out there? Cuzz if there is i would love to find out.

    Well.......there should be.

I have been pushing this idea here on the forums for years now. Every time someone brings it up we all discuss it and agree that it is a phenomenal idea. Unfortunately no gaming developer has yet managed to sell the idea and get the proverbial ball rolling.

Its a damn shame especially with underworld 2 coming out soon.

That would be really cool, but like how many classes would there be? How many races? Would the quests involve just like killing things or would you have like certain factions where you are good with some and bad with others. How would the pvp be (As in could vamps kill other vamps and werewolves other werewolves) Could you be like a kick ass vampire hitman that kills only vamps or like a badass werewolf slayer/actual werewolf. I think something like that would be kool. where you could like also put hits on someone's head or you get your head wanted because you killed someone or sumthing.

What would some of the move be?? Would the vampire be like a mage/rouge and the werewolf (or werebear) would be like the fighter class. How would u integrate healing classes (if there is any??) This would be an amazing game, and alot of people would dig it, but we also have to discuss stuff like that...

    Am I ever wrong??

thats whats fun about it, its a completely new experience.  I'd say there would be a few of those old mythological creatures, like vamps, warewolfs, maybe gargoyles, you know the like.  As for  factions and suck, how about your profession decides which path you take, but you can change it any time.  So if i decide to kill all the vamps i come across then i'm a vamp hunter etc

Sounds really cool, wish somone would do it; could also be like vampire: bloodlines - with all the different types of vampire e.t.c to add more variety to the game.

    Blood Nation: Sneak Peek!
    By terpischore on 2004-10-01 00:00:00

Icarus Studios, in conjunction with Platinum Studios, has just announced the development of their new action MMORPG, Blood Nation. Set amidst a decades-old war between Humans and Vampires, this PvP-intensive game boasts a zone-free, adaptable environment, vehicles, pets, crafting, character development through missions and skills rather than leveling, and creatures with distinctively different abilities.

Humans, led by Dean Jeddis, reside primarily in cities bathed in ultraviolet light, located in the Western part of the world. While naturally less agile than their Vampiric counterparts, Humans make use of a wide range of vehicles and energy-based weapons in order to balance the scales. Strength grows in numbers, aided by command computers that alert Humans to the location of their foes. A large-scale, well-organized attack could very well prove victorious, even in the face of a larger group of enemies.

The ever-hungry, bloodthirsty Vampires, led by Dervish Khan, dwell in dark caves and structures spread out around the Eastern part of the world. A Vampires strength lies in his speed and agility, and with increasing power, he can even learn to glide. Unlike Humans, Vampires fare best when hunting alone as feeding becomes more burdensome in numbers.

Central to Humans is the Lightstone, an artifact that radiates a vast source of ultraviolet light which can be draining to the life force of a Vampire. The Darkstone, a Vampiric relic of unknown origin, absorbs light and envelops Vampiric dwellings in utter darkness. Both races strive to protect their stones at all costs, as the artifacts serve as a primary source of both strength and defense.

Players of both races will primarily run missions in order to gain experience, and will have the option, over time, to cross races if they so choose. A Vampire can die a traditional death and be reborn to a human body. Likewise, a Human can die by the hand of a Vampire and become a Vampire himself. Combat will be primarily focused on PvP, further fueling the war between the races and lending itself to the instinct of survival.

With the release of a graphic novel and feature film to compliment the release of the game, Blood Nation appears to be a promising venture for combat-oriented players who enjoy the Vampiric theme.

We will bring you more information on this exciting new game as it's available, so stay tuned!

There ya go guys.Icarus studios is currently developing Fallen Earth as well.

White Wolf should get directly involved, whatever the project happens to be. They have the definitive system already developed for tabletop games, and there are far too few skill-based games on the market now. They'd probably have to redefine skills like "streetsmart" and such, but the bones of the system are very strong, as is the lore behind it all. Also, at least from a business standpoint, White Wolf has some name recognition; that, in turn, gives them a bit of a built-in audience, which is pretty much mandatory for new releases these days.

Another bonus is the fact that the various White Wolf games (Vampire: The Masquerade, Mage: The Ascension, Mummy: The Resurrection, Werewolf: The Apocalypse, etc.) all fit together within the mythology, which gives a ton of source material and numerous options for expansion packs. Why there hasn't been a serious move to do something like this is a bit of a mystery to me, though perhaps it's because the real strength of White Wolf, as with TSR and all tabletop RPGs, has always been the storytelling rather than the source material. It's definitely an idea that appeals to me, however.

I would LOVE to see a Vampire/Werewolf/Gothic style MMO, especially a Whitewolf Masquerade based game, I think that would be the end all, be all for me without a dbout. But Whitewolf is very very picky with who they deal in IP's and LR's and the product would have to be extremely high quality so I think it might take a long time until a developer could even do it properly in the first place.

I also loved the movie Underworld (can't wait for Evolution) and almost as soon as I saw it I thought a similar story, not the whole movie of course because that would not work, would make for an awesome mmorpg setting.

An huge gothic city setting controlled by various vampire clans and humans, a gigantic sewer system where werewolfes roam free, a vast dark and creepy forest on the outskirts of town... I mean seriously the whole thing would have so much possibility and would be so different from anything released recently.

Wasn't meant to be offensive. I was curious. Because I know people go Vampire or Vampyre and the two are supposed to be different. Don't jump the gun next time. Assumptions just make an ass out of you.

Personally I would dearly LOVE to see a well executed White Wolf Storyteller based MMORPG... And it ports well to the computer already with a few tweaks to the skills. Vampire: Bloodlines was a fantastic adaptation of the game to computer. It wasn't canonical to the game but it was still extremely well done and very well balanced. I suspect that such an MMORPG would be an overnight success.

I wonder why they haven't done one already....

Someone asked how many races/classes such a game would have.

Well just speaking from the "Storyteller" series you'd have multiple "races":
    Vampires
    Werewolves
    Wraiths
    Mummies
    Mages

Each "Race" has multiple "Classes" as well. Hell Werewolves, Mages and Vampires have over 20 'classes' each.

You could go absolutely NUTS with the storyteller game system. Hell just Vampire would provide a ton of options... you start mixing the different systems together and you get a very complex and fun game experience. I've played MUSE's that did it so I know an MMO could pull it off.

Maybe down the line when you lvl up alot you can be a type of Daywalker where you're a vampire but also have some human characteristics like not be affected by light etc.

    so Warewolf

    vampire

    daywalker

    gargoyle

    deamon

some sort of aqua beast humanoid

then u have your standard human/mage/barbarian etc

Well if they went strictly by the White Wolf games:

Vampires (and I'm only listing about 1/4 of them)
    Tremere
    Ventrue
    Brujah
    Gangrel
    Toreadore
    Nosferatu
    Tcimeze (sp?)

There are a like number of types of Mage & Werewolf as well... Mummies and Wraiths are pretty much a 1 shot deal though they do vary depending on what skills you choose.

So figure about 30 possible "classes" with infinite possibilities of how you choose your skills within those classes.

A couple questions to the world of darkness? fans....

What time period? Or A hole diffrent world?

Do you want it more like some of the vampire books that are out now? If so Which ones?

How would they implant biting into a mmorpg?

Would it be gear towards more realistic or fantasy?

I'm just wondering what kind of game you guys are actually thinking of....
