"Good MMOs are not designed for one type of player" video

Good video, they talk about other aspects too but that quote really stuck out.

EDIT

  • classes are like MOBAs to focus attention on the action on screen. Also partly inpsired by SWG.
  • "will players be able to create events?" additional tools like found in Landmark for UGC, so extend that...
  • "crafting will be achievable without combat"
  • SWG classes like entertainer aren't in the game but not ruled out. Still havn't fleshed out all the classes yet.

for me the crafter only is possible stucked out... ;)

Now we have two threads about that interview.. but yes, overall a few new infos.. at least something. Although i would have expected a little bit more from gamescom.. the presentation was almost the same, and new infos are rather sparsely.

I liked what he said about landmark being only one kind of toolset available to players, to me that means we might have access to at least some of the AI allowing us to write our own stories via dungeon maker ect.

Interesting interview.  It does sound like EQN is quite a way from beta though, which could mean release late next year.  I just hope they spend a lot of time on polish and don't rush to meet a deadline that is unrealistic.

Did anyone understand the second question about PVP where Georgeson was like "I-uhhh uhhhh, I can't say, haha"?

He should have turned the question around like: "Will Everquest Next be too hard for casual players and only focused on the hardcore?" I wonder what Dave Gerogeson would have said then.

If GW2 is considered open world then yes you are there to explore the open world.
